2008 PickupTrucks.com Half-Ton Shootout Second Takes

Shootoutsecondtakes

In case you haven’t already had a chance to read it, we’ve published the results of the 2008 PickupTrucks.com Half-Ton Shootout, along with our selection of the Best Overall Half-Ton Pickup: the 2009 Ford F-150.

There’s been lively debate about our scoring approach and selection. We’ve split our points system into Driving Impressions, Power and Performance, Features and Fuel Economy. There’s lots of empirical data to sift through, plus our subjective ride and feature evaluations. Agree with our pick or determine your own. For instance, if your needs lean toward acceleration performance, the Silverado or Tundra would probably be best for you.

The bottom line is that each truck performed best in at least one test, and we’d be happy to park any of them in our driveways.

Our choices in areas other than Best Overall Half-Ton:

-       Best Unloaded Ride: 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie, 5.7-liter V-8
-       Best Loaded Ride: 2009 Ford F-150 Lariat, 5.4-liter V-8
-       Best Power and Pulling Performance: 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Z71, 6.2-liter V-8
-       Best Offroad Performance: 2009 Nissan Titan PRO4X, 5.6-liter V-8

How would you have weighted, scored and selected your pick for Best Overall Half-Ton?

I didn't know you could get a 6.2L engine in a chevy 1/2 ton pickup. I know you can get a 6.0L
