The Scorpions Rock the Amarok, Say You Should Too

Volkswagen has gotten the thumbs up for its all-new Amarok pickup from the German equivalent of Toby Keith. The classic 1980s hair and heavy metal band, The Scorpions, got a sneak preview of the truck recently and rocked it like a hurricane.

“The Amarok is super stylish and a real eye-catcher. You just want to climb in and whizz off. It’s a beast of a vehicle,” said Rudolf Schenker, the Scorpion's founder and lead guitarist.

We're not quite sure what "whizz off" means, but it sure sounds like a positive endorsement.

“For me, a pickup like this stands for adventure, freedom and fun,” said Klaus Meine, the group's lead singer. “I’d travel everywhere in this car. It’s just cool, not flashy or over-the-top, but something for real men.”

Rudolf and Klaus liked the Amarok so much that Rudolf is headed to Chile next month to drive the Amarok during the Dakar Rally.

Unfortunately for Scorpion groupies here in the U.S., it's unlikely that you'll be able to be able to drive the Amarok like Rudolf and Klaus. There are no plans to bring it here any time soon.

Let's hope they remember the Amarok in the morning.

Are they the band that says "Do you want to play with my monkey?" :)

Ken, you are a clown! This was a very big group in the 70's and 80's, very successful worldwide.

"We're not quite sure what "whizz off" means"
Slang for leaving quickly. Used a lot in Australia.
