Ahh, Ford proves again Goverment Motors (GM Chrysler Fiat)is not the way to go!

last I looked GM out sold ford.

Hey Points,

You're a F'ken Genius. I would have never thought that GM actually outsold Ford.

Bravo my friend, good find.

Most notable achievement: Ford & Nissan

Honorable Mentions: The rest

It's amazing with the recession going on that the figures are that high for any car manufacturer. I would like to see how many half tons sold and how many heavy duty sold , this would let us see if people are buying smaller trucks these days with high gas prices.

Wonder what the sales are in Canada, eh? Seems to be way more GM trucks on the road here. I guess different areas of the continent have different tastes and needs.

Once again GM out sold Ford!!! GM'S trucks are 3 year old designs and Ford has the new F-150 and soon will have a new Super Duty.

Now for you Ford lovers GMC and Chevrolet are GM trucks and did out sell Ford. Ford is just like our Liar and Chief Barack Hussein Obama who lies all the time about statistics.

Now I suppose some posters here are going to start bringing up government motors and all that crap. Ford has been lying about best selling truck for years. Ford fans can't deny sales numbers no matter how they try to spin it.

Come on Ranger kick Tacoma's ass you can do it .

@ Bob - GM/Obama corporation considers Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra separate brands. If GM/Obama Corp. could legally steal Ford's title of #1 away by combining sales; don't you think they would? Ask yourself that very question: why doesn't GM/Obama corp. combine sales???? and outsell Ford????? Why not??? Why????
Why Bob?
Since you brought up Government Corp. and said in another post that GM was going to pay us taxpayers back, I got something for you to read:
quote"
For starters, $6.7 billion doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of what G.M. actually owes us. Over the past 12 months, the Treasury has given it some $52 billion in the form of cash, loans and the purchase of that 60 percent of the company’s post-bankruptcy equity. And that number fails to take into account the two bailouts of G.M.’s former lending arm, GMAC, or the $3 billion spent on the “cash for clunkers program,” which doubtless kept the company from posting even deeper losses. Moreover, G.M. is not, in the strictest sense, paying back taxpayers at all. Rather, it is refunding $6.7 billion of an $18 billion escrow account that was given to it by the government when it emerged from bankruptcy. The rest of that account will be used to cover fourth-quarter losses (including $2.8 billion pledged for the rescue of G.M.’s major parts supplier, Delphi), repay loans from the Canadian government, and possibly prop up the automaker’s shaky European operations. That escrow account is due to expire in June, at which time G.M. will repay what remains of the $6.7 billion from this week’s pledge — and then pocket the estimated $5.6 billion remainder."

Bob - your name is very appropriate for you: 3 letters, simple to spell, you can spell it backwards and still get it right. A "B" at the beginning and a "B" at the end with a empty circle in the middle that is always gaping open!

ford owns!!!!!!!! combine f series with ranger and you beat chevy and gmc and cadillac and the other 753 other trucks General Mistake has

@bob: Lou just owned you

Mike L,

Why don't you guys ever combine GMC and Chevy.... They are both made from the GM. Just like Ford F-series is made by Ford.

Combine them to show the real winners of every month and year. I'm kinda sick seeing the second place Truck Manufacturer's picture always being displayed.

I find it amazing that Ford is going to kill the Ranger.
They had a 47.3 % sales increase. The Nissan Frontier also saw a huge jump (at least % wise).
Could we be seeing a resurgence of the compact truck?

Toyota sales have taken a huge hit. Even Toyota's popular Tacoma has lost sales. This last recall is going to hurt bad.

I am very surprised by the Dodge Ram drop in sales. They have the newest trucks - really surprising.

Poor Ram...

o GOD.. here come the GM combined outsold Ford... Ford is number one cus they only sell one brand of trucks etc etc etc etc etc... it never fails, its like clockwork... the same comments/arguments going back and forth every month yet everyone continues to come back and argue.. its very funny lol.. i bet mike gets a good laugh and looks forward to posting this story every month.. actually, mike, if you want a HUGE hit of a story, you should do one over how the totals should be figured up!! that would get you some insane attention right there. but anyways, i being a Ford guy myself think Ford is the winner.. but to each his own

good thing theyre gonna end the ranger... dont wanna keep selling them and all

@Jacob, Where do you come off by saying that the combined sales of the F-Series and the Ranger beat the sales of GM's trucks that are listed here?

January 2010- F-Series: 27,630
Ranger: 4,143 = 31,773

January 2010- Silverado: 22,772
Sierra: 7,271
Colorado: 1,939 = 31,982

GM outsold Ford by 209 units, which I know is not much of a difference, but if someone was to include the sales of Cadillac, then it would be a bigger sales difference.

hey mike the ford ranger ytd sales is wrong, its 4143, you copied the econoline sales of 6177

@tim: Thanks for catching the wrong YTD figure for the Ford Ranger. It's correct now. Sorry about that. It's been a long day of travel.

Ford makes the single best selling truck in America not GM. The F-150 makes the most sales out of the F-series lineup The Chevy Silverado can't even outsale the F-150 on it's own so that proves that that GM does not make the best selling truck, you would need two of GM fullsize trucks just to outsale one of Ford trucks. So Ford continue making the single best selling truck in America.

Ford has the best selling truck, The F-150 outsales the Silverado on its own and the Seirra Can't even outsale its twin are the Ram so how can GM have the best selling trucks when the Silverado can't even outsale the F-150 own its own please get the facts correct. So once again Ford Has the best selling truck not GM. And also the F-150 makes the F-series lineup possible.

The troll got stuck under the bridge again! Ford rocks.

Chevy/GMC > Ford

besides the F-series is a fleet queen, Ford sells more trucks to fleet then any other company....

Ford also sells more to retail customers than other company. Ford is #1.

Jake - why are fleet sales a bad thing? Fleets buy the best price and best relaibility. Ford rocks. Why are you into queens anyway?

Interesting I wonder out of curiosity how much the recall had an impact on the Tundra and the Tacoma.

Or if it didnt happen where they would probably be at.

I hate my curiousness at time

Given how fugly the silverado is vs. the sierra, its quite a stretch to suggest they are the "same" truck and that combined buyers would automatically buy a Chev if the GM was not offered. Simply would not happen. To suggest otherwise is simply idiotic. So the Chev/GM>Ford is complete BS.

The Chevy and the GMC are the same truck in every way that matters, different sheet metal, same frame, same suspension, same transmission, same engine... The people driving GMC's don't usually see it that way though, many strongly believe Chevy's to be inferior trucks (not only to GMC's) and would most likely buy Fords or Dodges if the Sierra disappeared. Chevy drivers tend to see them as the same truck on the other hand and would probably buy GMC's if the Silverado disappeared.

Alright! Here it is,Ford F series is best in sales according to how they have it broken on here.I mean come on when I see a #1 to the left of the F series I think it means # 1(just sayin)

I wonder if the new marketing is what killed "Dodge" Ram sales.

Riley @

Depends where you live in Canada, on the West Coast most trucks are Dodge Rams even the tow trucks are switching over to Dodge big time !

But official numbers,Ford,Dodge,GMC then Chevy, yes GMC brand outsells Chev here, but like the U.S add Chevy/GMC they outsell Ford,so its really GM trucks,Ford then Dodge, but Dodge is increasing in sales every month and who knows it might be number 1 in Canada in a couple years,as Chrysler is Canada's 2nd best selling brand for along time (except 2009 lack of vehicles on lots) but so far in 2010 it regained its number 2 title.

Ford and Nissan have increased their sales, and the reasons are clear! The same occurs for GM and Toyota low sales. The only question is what had happened to Dodge?

Some of you really don't get it do you? They are listed by brand and model. Last I looked GM was a corporation, not a brand. Thus GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado are brands. Same as Ford and it's F Series are a brand. You cannot combine the two because they are indeed sold and advertised under 2 different labels. Can anyone here prove that if GMC vanished tomorrow all the buyers would go to Chevy? There is a reason GM has not killed off GMC. They can sell an over priced up optioned Chevy to some suckers and call it "professional grade". FWIW for awhile GMC was the only recipient of the 6.2L V8 and the 6 speed tranny so there was a time where GMC was not a full on clone of a Silverado with different sheetmetal and interior. I am sure there are also subtle package differences with options Chevy does not offer as well. Once again making GMC a separate BRAND.

I think it is great that Nissan sales are up from last year.

Points...you get 50 extra points for that.
GM's twins did outsell Ford F150 by about 7,000 units combined. But we all know Chevrolet is going to outsell GMC by a lot anyway. However, Ford F150 outsold the Chevy Silverado. I have a feeling Toyota's recent problems may cause the Ford Ranger Classic Methuselah Edition to outsell the Tacoma. Toyota had to hat sales and production of some models...though the Tacoma was not included last I heard.

For the record I never stated that Chevy outsold Ford. I did state several times however that GM out sold Ford and that continues to be true today. Ford is a brand and a Corporation and GM is a corporation that produces the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra and when you combine the two brands they outsell Ford period end of story! The Silverado and GMC Sierra are made in the same plants on the same assembly lines and are virtually the same except cosmetics. Engines, transmissions and drive trains are identical. So I will state once again GM does out sell Ford period and of story! TAKE THAT AND STICK IT where the sun don't shine Ford fans. 2nd place is the First LOSER!!!!!!!!!! Ford is the First LOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a GM guy but I understand how this works and Ford is the best selling brand. However, I know as well as everyone else that it's a marketing victory and nothing more. Here are a few things that I find funny about some of post so far.

1) Chevy/GMC are two different truck lines.
True but they are closer to being the same truck then the F-150 and the Super duty are.

2) Fleet sales are about reliability.
My experience has been it comes down to price, price and/or bother-in-law deals.

3) GMC guys would go to Ford or Dodge if GMC didn't exist.
Wrong. There was an article on this very web site a few months ago that proved that is not so.

So from a GM guy, sure Ford is the best selling brand but it really doesn't mean much win you get below the surface.

Where are the Lincoln pickup production numbers ?
Maybe added to the F-150's numbers?

All this talk of combining brands is pointless. The sales figures are broken down by brand. Sheetmetal plays a part in purchasing. Design does influence the sales so when you say that GM trucks are the same in every way that matters you are forgetting that people want a truck that looks good to them. They may be the same truck but I like the GM front end better and would prefer a GM over a Chevy. Ford and Dodge have better interiors (where I spend most of the time) and would buy one of them before the Chevy.

Remember that the sales figures for comparison are broken down by brand. Sales are strongly influenced by design (Remember the T-100?). Yes GM sold more trucks than Ford but they also spent more money advertising two seperate brands so not only did their % drop (on both brands) they spent more as a Corporation than Ford to produce and market two similar trucks that look different. This is why Ford is #1, one brand, one marketing strategy and lower build cost.

you know for all the people who call gm government motors, i know they screwed up, i love gm, but how many people file for bankrupcy, how many of you care about the banks who recieved so much more money, i figured it out, each tax payer only forked over about 400 bucks to keep gm alive, is that such a big deal to everyone, isnt it worth 400 bucks just to keep one persons job alive, what if it was your family member whos job was on the line, and remember, its not all... gms fault, blame the unions too

media or not better...Wye you did said,f150 sold f250 sold, and f350 sold.they don't want us to see the number..ford is afraid of what people no the right numbers...

"1) Chevy/GMC are two different truck lines.
True but they are closer to being the same truck then the F-150 and the Super duty are."

Well your half right, there are more differences between the F-150 and Super Duty are different trucks. Saying the Sierra and Silverado are different trucks is almost like saying a black truck and a blue truck are different trucks, sure the power train, frame and options are all the same... but hey they are 2 different colors!

"3) GMC guys would go to Ford or Dodge if GMC didn't exist.
Wrong. There was an article on this very web site a few months ago that proved that is not so."

No your wrong, but thanks for playing.

How illiterate, it's always the same cry-babies. Bob get's owned by Lou.

Ford F-Series is the best selling trucks.

Can you bring in some better news? This is getting old

It's getting boring in here.

Yeah, more and different news, please. Tell us about the Raptor you were driving last week and why you were driving it? 6.2? Tell us about the 5.0...............

Mark,

6.2L is not out yet in the Raptor. I believe he is driving the 5.4L but I could be wrong

I am sure Mike is writing up a story on this. I know he won't hold out.

Give us more Ford news. I like to read about successful auto manufacturers.

They still want to kill the ranger even though it has a 47% increase...thats crazy.

I find it amazing that the Ranger is a 17 year old design and yet it's ranked 6th in pickup sales.

Josh, Ford must know something we don't know.

Some people just don't get it and keep bitching as to why Ford keeps claiming it's got the best-selling NAMEPLATE in the truck segment. The reason why Ford has all the rights to claim it's got the best-selling truck is because they are sold under the same brand and it's also the same model (F-series). From a business perspective, GM CANNOT combine the sales of GMC Sierra and Silverado because they are different brands and MODELS, REGARDLESS of the similarities of these trucks.

GM sure sells more trucks than Ford, but Ford has the best-selling truck (nameplate). GM fans should learn the difference.

This is like saying lets combine the sales of the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan because they're essentially the same car with a different grill. YOU CANNOT DO THAT.

I hope you get it.

TruckMan1,

Amen to that. Even General Motors knows this, it's just that the GM fanboys try to spin it their way. It is always a failed attempt we see month in and month out.

No failed attemempts here crap for brains Frank, GM out sells Ford in both trucks and cars and you CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!! Facts are facts and the fact is GM outsells Ford, period end of story! YOU LOSE!!
