Way to go #1

Although we'll get the typical sound off here I find the GM doom and gloom scenario just isn't there. They've added nothing new to a model that's in it's final producion run. Ford and Dodge have been slaughtering them with new options and models but GM is holding steady. The new GM truck will seal their fate good or bad. The current model is just a place holder until then.

I was visiting my buddy who works at a local Dodge dealer and every time I look at those Ram trucks I like them more and more. The Laramies are top notch but I'd be happy with an SLT with buckets. They've done a great job on their interiors. In a year or so we'll likely buy a 3500 for a camper.

Ford still numer 1 big surprize..yawn

Gm can still sell a large number of trucks because they are reliable! They are introducing new car models and their number one in sales are showing it. Their next reward will be when they introduce their new trucks next year. Nice try Ford and Dodge but GM will always be number one!

GM used to sell the most trucks until a year or so ago,they outsold Ford.I know Ford fans cant understand that..Ford never sold the most trucks for 35 years obviously Ford fans cant count...GM sold the most trucks until recentely..

And GM is on a good fight between Toyota for selling the most vehicles,but Toyota is in more countries than GM and its amazing toyota cant blow GM away as it has more markets to sell vehicles in.

In conclusion I am not a GM fan,ever since they stopped the Buick 455 GSX,I am not a Ford fan since they stopped the 429 cars and cetainly NOT a Toyota fan...cant be... I value my life too much to have a rusty frame,uncontrollable steering,no braking,side glass shattering lemon that certain unethical people buy in bulk and want to destroy America !! Furthermore,rock on RAM you rule !!

35 years is a damn long time, we will see if gm can over take them for a year with their redesign untill ford comes out with theirs.

The whole "GM sells more trucks" thing is such a load of crap. Do you use this nonsense logic to conclude "GM sells more cars and CUV's" too? Afterall, the Traverse has 3 freaking twins in the Buick Enclave, GM Acadia and Cadillac SRX. When comparing anything to Ford we look at the Chevrolet totals. Not the total for the entire parent company of hodgepodge brands. When comparing the Malibu sales to the Fusion sales do we also toss in the Buick car on top of the Malibu sales to go against the Ford Fusion??? No, we do not. And likewise, it's asinine to attempt to do so with the different truck brands. Chevrolet trucks are a brand, GM'c' trucks are yet another brand. Ford ALWAYS outsells Chevrolet. The reason why is simple. Ford builds nicer trucks inside and out and Chevrolet is not allowed to do so. Why anyone would even buy a Chevrolet Anything over a Ford anything is beyond my comprehension. Nothing Chevrolet has is as nice as what Ford has. Chevrolet is purposely held back by Buick and GMC so they can keep on existing. This makes it 100% Impossible for Chevrolet's to be as nice as Ford's. Only a fool would buy one.

VW had stated as a corporate goal that they would be the #1 volume global vehicle manufacturer by 2018. They are on track to attain that goal by 2016. 2 years early. Experts/pundits are accusing VW of watering down their brands by basing most of their portfolio products on 3 platforms. The fear is that the various companies/brands owned by VW will become rebadged products. Sounds familiar? Guess which company experts use as an example of committing that sin?
The answer in some respects is also a rebuttal to those who claim supremacy by combined sales.

I do hope that these sales figures are a sign of a strengthening USA economy. More sales equals more jobs. More jobs equals more sales.

It's amazing how pitiful ford propaganda chiefs are to artificially inflate pick up truck sales figures. For 35 yrs ford has counted f-150 thru f-950 as pick ups. I remember in 1980 automotive news reported on fords "agressive ad campaign to claim top selling pick ups from GM. A ford insider claimed the dropping of the f-100 in 1975 and making the f-150 was part of the effort to go only to an f series platform that ford could combine sales of light pick ups to commercial size vehicles as one truck and market them as the "best selling" pick up to try and regain a invisable sales lead over GM.
As I sat in the stands and watched the Indy 500 last week I had to grin as the 3 guys behind me commented on how the Chevy Silveraldo rescue trucks looked and sounded so much better than any other truck on the market. Next year, the Chevy's who now make the fords look so weak, will skunk them where the only people who would buy a ford are rednecks and uneducated hillbillies...just like now.

RAM IS TAKING OUT EVERYONE IN 2013....STARTING WITH FORD!! The Ram is the best truck in the full-size market today. Pure GUTS.....PURE GLORY.....RAMMMM!!!

I agree 100% RAM4U. Ford has not put any real effort into any of their full sized trucks in several years. RAM deserves to take the sales lead for creating and building one fine truck! The F-150 has been around since 2004 with minor updates. The Super Duty dates back to the late 90's. Ford needs to get with the program and design and introduce some completely new product. My next truck will be a RAM next year. Not another F-150.

Ford is #1. Always will be. Ram has a long way to go to even think about getting close and chevy is in the way by a long shot so wishful thinking on ram boys part. chevy is the first loser and ram is the 2nd loser, thats way down the line to me and that means they need a whole lot better truck than ram has now to even be in the same league as Ford. Ford wins and chevy and ram lose again!!

@Billy Davidson- Ford doesnt need to redesign them. Both trucks look fine. In fact, Id rather Ford hadnt changed the look of the F150 AT ALL since 04. That was a gorgeous truck. If I had the money next year to buy new, it wouldnt bother me at all if a 2013 Ford looked the same as an 04.

By the way Ford took taxpayer monies as well,several hundred million dollars and they build vehicles in Turkey to sell in America.RAM is selling great,their trucks never outsold Ford before and Chrysler is on a sales roll 26 months straight of sales growth . In Canada RAM is knocking on f-150's door the F-150 is the best seller and the Ram is the second best selling vehicle including cars in Canada so its well worth the money.It would be aweful just to have Ford as the only American brand,I would have to drive an import then.

Nice to see Nissan Frontier take up some of the market share of the smaller trucks since Ford exited the Ranger. It would not be good to let Tacoma have the whole small truck market to itself. Hopefully the new Colorado will be more competitive.

As for who is number one who really cares. I just hope that the new Silverado/Sierra is more competitive and gives some of the Chevy guys an upgraded Silverado. It would be nice to see all of the brands improve and to see more competition in the non full size field.

Trying to self justify themselves by adding up all the other brands to claim they sell more than Ford. If you add up the total Chevy/GMC sales numbers it equals 221,408. Ford under one truck line the F-SERIES sold 246,116 that is 24,708 more trucks on the road than GM using 2 different lines! Garbage is the only word I can think of to describe Goverment Motors and their hodgepodge brands. And why some of these morons love to keep repeating the "Guts Glory Ram" slogan is beyond me. They should change it to No Guts No Glory and Can't pass a crash test! Oh and where is Bob? I can't wait to read how GM has better fuel economy too!

Ford got a low interest loan like the other Big 2 corporations but they levied their assets, including their blue oval trademark. Much like you or I have to do when we borrow money. There's a huge difference in a loan and a donation. Look it up. See what Chrysler and GM borrowed and then what they were given. We have a tendency to turn our head at the facts when it's against our chosen brand. Truth is, I've been loyal to GM for many years and my pards have been loyal to both GM and Ram. Sadly, the Rams are all gone due to front-end problems, wheels bearing failure, eating tires, AC issues, and more.
I'm in the market for a full-size now and I just can't see giving GM one thin dime. Possibly a Ram but more than likely a F-150. My family has given 100's of thousands to them over the years (combined) and they took what 50 BILLION from tax payers.!??! I've given them too much already. Time and money. Oil consumption, oil leaks, electrical problems, transmission issues, and a check engine light that refuses to go off even after the tech's do all but replace every engine component. Give me a break!

I think Ram was pretty smart coming out with their refresh before the Chevies even come out. This will cost GM some sales because of all the people who don't like to wait forever might buy a Ram or Ford. There will be a few people who will say later that they rather have the Chevy, but this happens to folks all the time. As soon as you buy a product, something you like better comes out. Ram and Ford are going to steal all the sales they can while Chevy sits on its butt.

@Bill Davidson- I feel the same about Chevys. Im not a chevy guy but I think the style Chevy has been using looks just fine. Thought they looked fine back in 07? or whenever it was they redesigned them and my gf at the times dad bought one new. Twas a sharp truck and I still think they are. Not as good looking as the 99s tho.

The "who sells more debate" centered around trucks is based on brand not corporation. If you looked at corporate sales; Toyota and Fiat probably outsell GMC in combined truck sales. Toyota mother corporation includes Hino,Hilux,Tacoma, and Tundra. Fiat mother corporation includes Ram and Iveco. Do you want to keep pointing out the fact that those companies are in more markets globally? and do you want to keep the topic on corporate sales not brand sales ? and do you want to keep talking about global sales?

Ford is #1, Ram #2, Sierra #3, and Silverado #4.
It takes GMC mother corporation combined sales to beat Ram for 2nd in Canada.
If you want to look at GMC mother corporation sales in Canada, they are number 3 in Canada.
Chrysler is #2 for corporate sales in Canada.
Ford is #1 for corporate sales in Canada.

Why don't you comment on the fact that auto experts feel that VW will dilute individual brands by a corporate 3 platform format.

GM trucks continue to sell well because they come with large discounts, as much as $11250 off MSRP in the El Paso, TX, area for a 2012 Silverado Texas Edition 4dr.

These are not loss-leaders. There are many trucks to choose from at several dealerships advertising in the El Paso Times and GM truck owners are taking advantage of higher trade-in values to step up to a new one. Easy financing with the Credit Unions and Banks if you have a job and a verifiable credit history.

I know several guys from New Mexico who went to El Paso to trade in their old GM truck for a new, highly-optioned one.

I don't know of any Ford incentives in my area that even come close to those on GM and Dodge trucks. But Ford continues to outsell everyone else because Ford is lightyears ahead of both GM and Dodge.

I have and still own one of each American trucks, the oldest is a 2003 Dakota reg cab 4x4 V-8 spd, in the 7oK+ miles I have had decent luck with it, water pump (warrante), reg maint. and ball joints (I paid because I wanted ball joint with grease fittings) I bought Moog top of the line HD and the dealer , a friend of mine put them in under warrante!, thats it! and not a spot of rust and I run on the beach every week! there are 3 tacomas that do the same with us in a group, and every one of them has had there frames replaced (by toyota), and there rear bumpers are aftermarket now because of rust. then I have a 2011 F-150 reg cab 4x4 8' Ecco-Boost XL for the heavy stuff I need to haul and tow, this truck so far has been trouble free, and very powerful, it pulls my trailers like there not there, one is a 7,500 bost, and the other is a 6,000 Airsteam, even the Dakota has pulled them plenty of times, the 3dr truck is a 2011 Silverado Z-71, ect cab that the wife drives dayly, this truck is very comfy and quite, pulls both trailer just fine, and have had no problems, of all the trucks they all seam to get the same mpg! but the F-150 has the most power, the Dakota is the qickest, and the Chevy does the best in the hyw, dew to the grearing? the F-150 has the HD trailer tow pack with 3:72 lmtslp, th Z-71 has 3:42 autolk, and the Dakota has 3:92 posi. I would not hesatate to buy any American manufactured truck, I am probably going to trde in the Dakota for a new 2014 Ram or Chevy reg. cab 4x4, with the biggest most powerful engine I can, I hope the new Chevy does something with power and economy, but the 5.3 is fine, I'm sure the new one will be fine. On the subject of crash tests, just remember that they are all conducted with the test car or truck running into an immoveable barrier, never into one another, that is when you will see a diff. between a civic and a Silverado, they both do good in the Gov. tests but into one another I would rather be in the truck, even the Ram that for some reason is not rated very high, I would rather be in the Ram than any small car!

@sandman4x4-Nice to hear a different view. Instead of just cheering for one brand only like some of the Ford, Chevy, and RAM guys you own one of each. Each manufacturer has their strengths and weakness which I am sure you have discovered. Just like anything you buy including computers. Just because HP sells more computers than their competitors does not make them any better or any worse. If you take care of anything you will usually get good service.

VW/Porsche/Audi always shared platforms,bodies ect..it just took the so-called experts decades to figure that out !! I am smarter than them as I knew this decades ago..Research yourself,look at the VW/Audi brands and even their bodies are the same on alot of their cars for decades..Audi's were never nothing more than a glorified VW..I cant believe it took people this long to figure it out ! As I have said earlier if you have links to intelligent unbiased sources (Consumer Reports, KBB, Forbes, J.D. Power or any auto publication long term review) about Toyota's safety and dependability I am willing to look at it. The reason I don't take avg. forum posters word is I usually don't get quality info I end up with lies (not saying your Tundra story is because Toyota can produce a lemon like any other automaker). The reason I end up with those lies are people's defense mechanism kicks in when you say something bad about their brand or their brand doesn't get recognized (inferiority complex) so it then becomes well what does J.D. Power know or what does KBB know? Which would be why I post links from unbiased sources to explain myself.

As For Toyota being in more places around the world than GM I would call a GM problem not a valid excuse. I would rather be global giant than a domestic giant.

-Um, If GM is GMC and Chevrolet, BOE's point is 100% correct. Likewise if you think GM is GMC and Chevrolet and you compare the sales of those 2 brands to the 1 Ford brand, why then do you not say GM is Buick and Chevrolet? Or in the past GM would be Buick, Chevrolet, Pontiac, Saturn, Oldsmobile and the rest. You didn't combine the total of all GM brands in a given segment (IE: midsize sedan sales) and put them ALL against the sales of let's say the single Ford Taurus... No, you took the Chevrolet Imapla sales and pitted them against the Ford Taurus. Sales are tallied by individual brands and single nameplates. Not the sum total of corporate sales. And there is Zero doubt in my mind that the GMC Sierra ruins the prestige of the Chevrolet Silverado and thus the entire Chevrolet brand. The F-Series lends serious prestige and status to the entire Ford nameplate. This is something the Silverado cannot do for Chevrolet all because of GMC. Frankly, the entire Chevrolet brand is diluted to very low worth because of the other "GM" brands. This is precisely why Ford is held in higher regard over that of Chevrolet. Ford is Ford's premiere brand with a little Lincoln sprinkled on the top. Chevrolet is not "Chevrolet's" premiere brand because Chevrolet is not unto it's own. It has to share with GM siblings and is artificially held back from being a premiere brand so the others can survive. It will ultimately be GM's undoing for good longterm. GM should have just became Chevrolet Motor Co. and left the Govt. Motors stigma in the bankrupt past. The really do continue to ruin the only brand of true worth that they possess. It's baffling..

WOW! I own a 2011 Tundra 5.7 DoubleCab SR5, my first ever foreign-brand truck after owning both Silverado and F150.

Although MY Tundra has not had any problems or warranty issues, I would be interested in what the problems were with your Tundra and what model year it was, what engine, what transmission, etc. Did the dealer fix everything or did they rip you off?
