Ford Atlas Concept: Photo Gallery

Ford-atlas-concept-560.jpg

While Mark is busy on-site covering the release of the new Ford Atlas pickup concept at the Detroit Auto Show, over at Cars.com's KickingTires, we've got a photo gallery showing off all of the images we could get our hands on. From the grille that blew us away to the many cool detail shots, it's well worth your time. We'll have live photos and more later on in the day, but for now, feast on this.

It looks like the current truck only this time the grille is even uglier...........YAWN.

Hey Ford the 2004 F150 just call and said can you do more then change my grill? Ok so now we got a 2004 F150 with a super duty grill BORING!!!!! YAWN ZZZZZZZZ OUT DATE FORD TRUCKS GOING TO SLEEP NOW! Ford forgot to design I guess. atleast GM added new body lines and bumpers.

I hope this isn't the 2015 f150. I hope it's a joke, cause if it's not Ford didn't steal GM's thunder LOL!

looks like too much plastic..although it is just a concept.

LMMFAO ford has become a joke in design i mean come on give a 5 year old a crayon atleast the 5 year old would make some new to look at i guess ford is fine haveing a 10 year old outdated looking truck

SAMEOLE JOE WISHES HE WOULD HAVE WAITED, INSTEAD OF GETTING STUCK WITH HIS RAM PAYMENTS FOR FIVE MORE YRS.. SLEEP WELL JOE LOL

I like it!! Looks Ford Tough!

I'm relieved that Ford didn't make a drastic change to the overall look of the 2004/2009 model. When you get something right the first time, there's no need to change it.

Good job Ford, keep making large technological advances under the hood and in the chassis while only making minor changes to the exterior.

My next truck will be an F150. Can't wait for 2016! (gotta give them a year to shake out the bugs of course)

If half of these ideas get carried into the 2015, it will be a revolutionary design. The exterior details and ideas alone are outstanding. They are definitely listening to the truck buyers, as you can see multiple aftermarket accessories incorporated into the design. I love the roof rack and rear step extension.

Wow! Ford made this auto show personal. I think this truck looks strong. Although this is only a concept you can tell it isn't too far off what the production should look like kinda like what we did with the GMC All Terrain.

I like the way the grill is incorporated into the front of the truck design and not just slapped on there. This is definitely the toughest looking truck design out there.

Now, if this is a midsize truck and with a diesel engine I'll get one in a heartbeat.

@HAHAHA I agree it does look outdated. Give us something new to see other then a 10 or so year old body with a different grill every other year. It is only a conept hopefully more will change in looks , it's not even funny to laugh at how old and long in the tooth these bodys are.

The active wheel shutters sound like a great idea. They will pull out of the way when off road, on trails, or in rough areas around the farm. But then they can engage to save fuel when on the highway.

I like the interior not so much the front end. I'm not a big fan of making half ton trucks look like 1 tons.

Finally, a synthetic bed with hidden ties all around! I had a synthetic bed on an old Sport Trac and it was indestructible. It worked well for hauling firewood that would normally dent steel beds when heavy logs are tossed in. It also saves the cost of a bed liner or spray on coating.

Say hello to the 2016 Ford Ranger, everyone! Based on the Transit platform, it will be a unibody pickup that will be cheap to produce, fuel efficient, and give both the Tacoma and the Frontier something to worry about.

This truck will get Transit-like fuel economy (up to 30mpg in the right configuration, assuming a small EcoBoost engine) and still be able to haul 1000-1200 lbs.

My worry? It won't be able to tow more than 3500 lbs. Here's to hoping Ford figures out a way to tow 5k lbs AND get 30mpg...

The more and more I look at the pictures the more 2014 GMC and Chevy I see kinda mix into the 2004 F150 with a super duty grill. The Hood looks like like GM twins and the squared off top part of the frenders, The headlights have that bar going half way a cross kinda looks like the chevy's headlights. Aleast to me is does, looks like a mix of 2004 f150 with superduty grill and 2014 GM trucks.

The on-board cargo ramps sound like a good idea. I'd like to see more about them.
As others have said, the roof and tailgate designs are nice for hauling ladders etc. And it makes sense to toughen the roof surface to haul things since the cab is already toughened for roll-over safety. Making better use of of good engineering!

ram 2500 meets 2015 ford 250, need i say more?

you know, ram started this big king of the road truck stuff back in 1994, but ford sure has evolved it and is really driving a nail. i swear the cab of that truck is from a 2500 ram.

So... When Ford whoop their asses Ram guys go hide themselve? Or haven't they got out of their mom basement yet?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G31TNTZCccw

This is just a lame attempt to get people not to buy the 2014 Gm or 2013 Ram. The thing sits perfectly level on 325/50R22, which is a 35x13R22 in old money, bfg at's...active shutters on 22in wheels with 70lb tires on them...way to go ford

'Dynamic Hitch Assist' which automatically aligns the truck as you back up to a trailer hitch! This is the best feature I've seen on a truck in years. This will save me a ton of time when working alone and on unlevel surfaces at job sites.

I'm relieved that Ford didn't make a drastic change to the overall look of the 2004/2009 model. When you get something right the first time, there's no need to change it.

-Yep. Looks way better than the new Silverado. The Chevrolet's haven't looked good for the last 10 years or so. Especially since the 07 model came out. Had Chevy just stuck with their classic designs or done something off of the Avalanche for the Silverado, they wouldn't need to do drastic redesigns. Instead they screw up the Silvy back in 03, screw it up again 4 years later in 07 and screwed it up again 6 years later for this new one coming out. Whereas the Ford SD has looked basically the same since 99 and the F-150 pretty much the same since 04. Yet they sell like hotcakes because they looked good in the first place. Not so with the Chevrolet.

There's a prefectly good reason Ford has been killing Chevy the last several years. They look better. It's the same with the new Dodge's. They look better than the Chevy too. And this Ford interior up top is lighyears ahead of the so called new Silverado interior that looks like it came out of a 1990's Dodge.

Ford has again changed the game. Good job ford.

@Marco21, Those beds are awesome. If anyone was going to come out with a composite bed again I thought the new Silverado would have it. Or at least have it as an option like the did on those classic 99-02 models. When I saw it wasn't listed as an option even on the 2014's I was like what?? Sure they have better steel but notice they don't specify if it's hot or cold rolled. They also don't specify how thick it is which is still the biggest part in steel strength no matter how they try to spin it. They also didn't even bother to put a floor shifter in their console. I was shocked.

Love the look of the truck......just hope Ford doesnt go the new Transit Van route by only offer Ecoboost V6 engine.....a simple 5.0 V8 should still be offered.....

They also didn't even bother to put a floor shifter in their console. I was shocked.

@RonM., you can add to the list a modern look, painted frames (still using cheap ass wax), no King Ranch, Platinum interiors, No Outlaw model, No SFA on the HD's, no inner bed wheel opening liners and a tailgate lip design lifted straight off a Dodge Ram. And good luck getting a decent tire into those stupid square bulges they tack on the sides now. It gets old watching Chevrolet go down the toilet like this. Yet they obviously spent Tons of time and money into the Corvette. It's not like they can't do something, they just don't. Not with their trucks anyway.

I love it! I think that it looks awesome!

@ All the Ford haters/Chevy Fan Girls

The 1980's called, they want their "all-new" 2014 Silverado back. Please stop calling the F-150 the same since '04 as Ford has constantly changed up the lines, interior, engines and cab space. I mean if you are really going to argue that it looks the same, then what about you precious Silverado? Looks the same except for some body line, interior, grill and engine changes. Sound familiar?

Ford has basically been the same body style since 04. Yes they did lengthen the crew cab but the lines are the same and the other cavs are the same, changing the grill and headlights don't make a new truck.

stop calling the F-150 the same since '04 as Ford

-It is the same basic overall truck though. Same with the Super Duty. People are right though, why mess with a great design? Sure, tweak it and freshen it up but don't Screw it up. Ford is doing this right. They're like the strong and steady hand at the wheel. Chevy keeps throwing new designs out there to see what sticks and they still don't get it. Back when the GMT400's were around they made the same truck for 10 years straight and nodoby complained because the truck was fantastic looking from day 1. Not so once that truck was done. The best thing they've done since then design wise was the Tahoe/Avalanche. That doesn't however help Silverado sales. If there's a way to screw up Chevy trucks even further, they'll find it.

This truck is gorgeous! They wouldn't be able to keep those on the lots.

"The best thing they've done since then design wise was the Tahoe/Avalanche. That doesn't however help Silverado sales"

@Keith, agreed. Chevy just makes their Silverado so ugly anymore. They used to be the best looking truck on the market. You had the Angry China Man face that was awful around 03-04 and they just got worse from there on out and never recovered. They need to go back to making their trucks look like clean and classic Chevy's again instead of doing all of these goofy looking designs. They look horrible.

Awesome looking truck.

I love the massive look of combining the nostrils with the bar grille. For those who say it's boring I say look closer. The front end is completely changed from the A pillar forward. Ford stays true to its roots with each redesign. I like it.

It looks like Ford Tough, which is very weak! It looks like Ford is going backwards making their trucks look like the present super duties which are long over due for an update. Especially an update to their weak frames.

You had the Angry China Man face that was awful around 03-04 and they just got worse from there on out and never recovered

-100% SPOT ON! We called them the Cat Eye truck here. It does look like an angry Chinaman too. They pissed on their entire history of good looking Chevrolet's from that moment in time forward. That truck is Literally what made me switch to Ford's F-150 back in 2005. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a Silverado that looked the way it did then. And hell if they haven't just gotten worse looking. I genuinely hope somebody got fired over that truck design. It literally ruined Chevy trucks for me. And I hope somebody got fired over the 2007 abortion too. If they'd clean up the sides on the next truck it would look better. It still isn't great though. It's almost too early 80's. I'll give them credit for at least trying to fix the front end and they did but I don't know. I think it really is the sides that screw the whole design up actually. I'm loving this truck up top! If the Chevy sides looked like that they'd have a winner. Chevy needs to get their act together and fast.

I really like this concept truck. I wasn't sure I would since I am not a fan of the "I need 9 inch thick bars of chrome on everything" kind of guy but this seem quite nice.

Obviously it has a lot of "concept" in it since there is no way that interior makes it to production as is but I generally like the center stack and the large buttons/toggles. Integrated single rearseat monitor is nice but it seems like headrests are a natural spot to put these now days.

The aero aids are subtle which I know was a worry for a lot of folks. I just hope the modest changes are enough to help boost that highway fuel economy and the composite parts cut down on curb weight.

Beautiful truck! On other websites they talk about this giving a clue to what the next F-series including Super Duty will look like, not just F-150. Could Ford be merging the bodies back to the old days?????

Those guys over at Chevrolet Motors just pee'd their pants. They can't save their truck program to save their life. I still don't know why GM dinks around with 2 different truck companies like they do. Why not just stick all the resources into 1 great Silverado? They might actually be able to come up with some real competition then. As of right now seeing this new Ford compared to the new Silverado, there is No comparison inside or out.

@MikesFX4, They should. The two truck thing was cool at the time but I don't think it's necessary any longer. They made their point. They build the Raptor off of the F-150, they could easily stick a SFA up front also for HD use. I'm a big believer in streamlining things as much as possible. It's why I can't for the life of me wrap my head around the costs associated with having a Sierra too. I don't understand GM at all. I've heard guys talk about how it's to prop up Buick dealers. Which in turn is to prop up the dying Opel overseas. Well why didn't they just have single GM dealerships? Chevrolet-Buick-Cadillac all under one roof? They split up dealerships here who were that way for decades and Forced them to pair up with other dealers. Why? The Kiss approach was always the best. Keep It Simple Stupid. It's business 101. If Opel went under, no problem. Take the Buick sign down and go back to Chevrolet-Cadillac. Very few want Buick's anyway except for that snazzy LaCrosse. That could have been the new Malibu design instead which is a total disaster in itself. If this last Silverado had looked like the Sierra they would have sold tens of thousands more Silverado's instead of losing Chevrolet customers over to Ford. GM is just still too big for their own longterm survival. They keep making mistakes like they've been doing the last several years and they'll be gone in another decade. Maybe that's the best thing for Chevrolet's survival? To rid itself of GM.

Just saw a video on this truck... And the new f150 I going to unbelievable. Ram an GM I'm sure are back to the drawing board, so don't bash the truck to hard because as always the truck you drive will mimic the F150 can't wait for the 2015

Not a Ford guy, but this is a very slick looking truck. The lines are very well done, especially for a concept. Notice how the hood shape carries through the center of the roof, and even through the top of the tailgate. This is top notch design and blows my favorite brand away. Obviously this is past the concept phase as it looks nearly production ready, other than the over the top seats.

Finally an F-150 that looks as tough as it is!!!! I have got to have one. If FORD builds it, I will buy it.

On the current F150 platinum, ford took a Chevy grille threw in some inserts and called it good. This is another modified Chevy grille, thet they cut that bar at the nozzles and then continued into the headlights, and even split the headlightd WTF? can ford stick with its own cues and not come it Chevy territory?

This just ain't gonna cut it folks. Over here in Massey Ferguson country, everyone and their brother has switched to RAM and GM trucks to work on their farms. They are simply tired of Ford trucks looking the same year after year. The grilles get uglier and more hideous looking every two years. Most of the guys with diesel engines have had big problems and costly repairs. This truck is simply a messaged version of the 2013. Ford has seemed to have lost their way with truck design the last several years. I switched not long after the 6.0 diesel fiasco began and never looked back.

The big bars across the grill is too much like the F-250s and up and the bar around the grill looks like a bull bar. I much prefer the looks of the current F-150 on the front at least. The rest of the truck is not bad. I prefer the front on the 2014 Silverado to this but even that is a little too much (but that is better than the current Silverado). Maybe if the grill didn't stick out as much and the bar across the front was smaller, and the bars across the headlights were smaller I would like it better. I would have to see it in person but the front needs some more work. In all honesty keep the F-150 just as it is with a few minor exterior changes. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I like it!
Looks like theyre trying to make it look macho like tundra. My epnis feels bigger just looking at the picture.

Awsome!
