Spied: 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD Crew Cab

It's getting close. GM's redesigned 2015 models of its heavy-duty pickup trucks are on their way, and our spy shooters are seeing a few variations make their way onto the open ranges. Here's what they've told us:

"We just got our best shots yet of the swankiest version of GMC's new HD pickups in the guise of this prototype for the 3500HD Denali dualie. With only some thin graphic camouflage covering most of the body and a small bra up front, this latest prototype gives up just about every exterior design secret on GM's wide-body, heavy-duty pickup.

"The massive Denali grille shows through the bra's mesh opening, and the projector-beam headlights peek through the openings in the camouflage. Out back, we see steps cutout (and tapedover) in the rear bumper. The fender swells over the dualie's rear tires show a smoother, more flowing design than on the current model, which juts out prominently from the bodyside."

We'd also add it looks like GM made some rear bumper modifications as well. By wrapping the rear corner, it looks like the big trucks will get the same foothold bumper corners as the light-dutys to make bed access easier. Our guess is that GM will probably incorporate a few other bed upgrades that we've already seen on its light-duty pickups.

The management team and packaging engineers that handled and OK'd the packaging for the DEF tank on the passenger side of the current truck and the 2015 HD should be fired. That is all.

whats worse then a low slung frame? the crap under the r/f passenger, what def tank?

of wait a second, GM HDs are pavement pounds, wait, I need to re change that to all GMs, with their low riders

I'm more interested in what's under the skin. The GM HD's were recently overhauled mechanically, I wonder how much is going to change here.

thats pavement poundERS

The trailer hitch is new but Im guessing most of the frame is unchanged. It will be interesting to see what the tow ratings on these trucks will be.

TRX 4 Tom only pavement pounders are the Ram 1500s LOL need I repost the ground numbers again? ;)

looks like tail pipe have changed a bit, it looks like its straight, no more taper in the middle

Do they really need to put that tape over the rear bumper corners? I think everyone knows what under them.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500
The redesigned heavy-duty pickups should get enhancements to the same engines -- a 6.0-liter V-8 and the 6.6-liter Duramax
V-8 diesel -- when they arrive in showrooms at the start of 2014. Expect the same exterior and interior styling as the recently launched 1500.

Segment: Full-sized Pickup Powertrain: Conventional
Release Year: 2014 New Product Category: Redesign

I must say when I first say it I thought it was a Ram 3500,

If the body looks anything like recent models then it might look better just to leave the camouflage on the trucks. Someday maybe they'll hire some new designers. Hopefully.

Looks like a GM truck, I wish they'd go to the rear fender flares like Ford Uses instead of the hole bed side being flared out, much cheaper to repair and it looks better to just have a big flare.

That truck sure does want you to look up its skirt.

How long before the rear step goes away or the tailpipe is moved. You know people are going to be burning/cutting thier shin stepping off that back bumper.

Chevy this, GM that, this website is just an advertising gimmick for Government Motors. All they talk about it how wonderful GM's and Chevys are.
Does this sound silly enough? Think about it next time someone posts something similar about Ford.

Looks like every troll is scared to death, General Motors shows it's guts and glory with Sales and Kicking Ass.

Sheesh, with this rig being a Denali, it'd need some running boards to hide that hideous tumor box - I mean DEF tank.

I see it uses the Silverado tail lights as the current HDs do.

GMC = GovtMoCo!!! A WASTE OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS! NO Company Needs TWO TRUCKS! NOT on MY Dime! Chevrolet is ENOUGH. The GovtMoCo Sierra is a WASTE. Only Government Motors Company would feel the Need to do this.

Nice DEF TANK by the way! Pavement Pounding Girly Mans Chariot.

@MaXx - "That truck sure does want you to look up its skirt"

Speaking about your wife...how is the old battleaxe?

@MoparDumbness

What about Dodge, oh sorry don't want to hurt your feelings I meant Ram. Let's not forget Sterling, that's two trucks under the same FAILED company. Oh let's be fair let's not forget the the Lincoln Mark LT another FORD Fail.

If it works for GM, let it be don't get mad cuz RAM can't produce anything serious.

@AllAmerican - I'm sure that you find yourself completely amusing and the very fact that I am answering one of your posts must have you firing a wad into your coloured underwear (yellow front, brown back). Ultimately, your cowardice hurts PUTC and if you do have a problem with the Lincoln Mark LT then you should have the intestinal fortitude to debate me face to face without hiding behind your fat ass.

- I'm thinking Government Motors might go away soon. You can see it in everyday transactions. Chevy guys don't like GM/GMC and vice versa. I see that daily among the Chevrolet faithful at work. They hate GM. Cadillac guys don't like Chinese/Euro/Opel Buicks and vice versa. It's a cluster F of a company. Too many brands and/or divisions still. It should have just been Chevrolet or simply closed. This truck really isn't impressive either. It's still a 1 trick pony. The suspension and frame should have been redesigned for the launch. The current stuff literally dates back to the early 90's minus the 2011 upgrades to fix some shortcomings. Still, it wasn't enough without a whole revamp. That's what they needed. Too bad really.

@AllAmerican, Moparmoron is still right. It was pretty shifty to use taxdollars for 2 trucks. Just sayin, it's a valid point. Lot's of people don't think it was right. And so what of the Lincoln? Ford saw how stupid it was and dropped it. That was more like Cadillac's Avalanche thing they did if anything. It's done and over. Ford outsells both GM branded trucks and Chevrolet branded trucks combined.

This truck looks impressive. Too bad Ford can't come up with a reliable diesel powertrain to beat the Duramax. It sucks these days to be a fan of Ford trucks.

This is what GM gives you with a purchase of their GMC. Nightmares. Chevrolet is no better. And these issues haven't been fixed. They still use subpar steel and coat the frames with cheap wax as a cost cutting measure. Ford, Dodge, Nissan and Toyota all paint their frames. Only GM and Chevrolet are too cheap to do it right.

I think Lou's undies are red in the front and brown in the back judging by the sound of that post.

this truck look more like 4500,,just imagine the Diesel engine wow some compagnie need to be worry about this new truck,,,,and yes gm need to move the plastic box,,,,or is just a joke maybe the new truck they move the box...

Looks like a handicap vehicle with that box under the door, maybe a wheel chair ramp folds down from it.

Amen old pal! How I wish they would finally fix my hot pink Mary Kay Ecoboost so that I can get back out on the road and sell my Mary Kay products. My sales manager hates me right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is wy they call this truck the boss,,,,or king....for years and years,,,,,whit a older diesel design they still beat the competitor ...

Too Bad they have wax on thier frames that rubs off when a blade of grass hits it and then it rusts into a rust bucket.

Mirrors are a bit small for a 3500 truck, I think my car has bigger ones.

How does paint get is side the fully boxed frame ??? Ford don't have one and dodge don't care.

On HD'S.

Looking at this truck and most of the comments, most who are commenting probably can't even afford to buy and operate one.

It seems this vehicle is a rich man's toy for towing his 5th wheel float or camper.

Whether it's a GM, Phiat or Ford doesn't really matter as long as they can sell some.

I like HDs, hopefully the engines will become more economical and use newer diesel technology.

I think what's killing the looks of the US pickup is those large pretend to do something grilles. I mean they really aren't functional, a more aero look would be nice.

If Nissan come out with a HD, I hope they move away from the 'Big Rig' look in little trucks.

Before any one worries that was an inadvertant double post by me.

@DenverMike to UAW Rep
You and your UAW marketeers can multi post this one too.

I think maybe the rest of the world might have iddy biddy midsizers, but at least they will be affordable for the average bloke.

I was hoping sanity would prevail with the UAW, manufacturers and government etc. Apparently not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ppmYNg4tVM ROFL!!

Nobody can deny that ram is the best looking truck and thats fact!
Ram started the big rig look in 1994 and since every body has copied just slslapping the biggest grille they can make without the sleek style ram has!
You want capability with nice style buy RAM! want a brick on wheels buy ford or gm! Lol

never been a fan of low slung gm frames but this DEF tank defies description. looking seriously at 2015 gmc canyon. if it's DEF tank is similar i'll buy the ram 1500 diesel!!

Still got the wheel openings that you could put a 5 ft tire in and the nose is in the dirt....But my grandma would love the Mexican height of it...

I like the new Silverado. Much nicer then the outgoing model. That thing was crap out of the gate. The Sierra was ok but I'm not much into GMC anyway. New Sierra's about the same. They both need to get their frames tucked away as well as the Def tank if they want a run at the crown here though. I still prefer Chevrolet engines over Ford, just not the total truck package itself. When it's time to trade off the Platinum 150 of ours I did say I will look seriously at the Silverado High Country. And I will. Nothing wrong with Chevrolet 1500's now. They seem like they're back to building stout high quality trucks again like the old days. Ford won't sleep though I know that.

mopar maddness... hey moron have you noticed the DEF Tank on the Dodge Cummins???? behind rear drivers side door, hanging down just as low if not lower... the stupid things you guys complain about... and if you see fit to offroad your $50-65k truck and dont put a skid plate under it then you get what you deserve... wow.. these trucks are designed to haul and tow.. not rock climb or mud bog.. and that goes for all manufacturers...

Still got the wheel openings that you could put a 5 ft tire in and the nose is in the dirt....

@Lynn, Ya, not big on the wheel openings still but you gotta admit they're miles ahead of the 900's in terms of looks. The Sierra looked ok but the Silverado was a disaster. Now it looks more normal. This is a good square body style truck like they had in the 70's and 80's. Maybe someday they'll go further back to the 50's and even 67-72 models. Those were the best.

How does paint get is side the fully boxed frame ??? Ford don't have one and dodge don't care.

- The same way we do our John Deere tractors. It's called E-Coat. You charge and dip them just like wax. You get a shiny durable long lasting finish. It's much like powder coating yet far more economical. The new Silverado is a wicked machine in my book. I don't know about the 3/4 tons yet until I see them on the lot. Chevrolet Smallblocks are bulletproof and so is the Duramax diesel. You can't go wrong with either. They should E-Coat the frames still. The dirt rinses right off, you can touch it up with paint, it's not messy and it looks so much better. We went to E-Coat years ago.
