2004-2006 Mazda B-Series Pickup: Recall Alert

2006 Mazda B3000 recall
Vehicles Affected:
Approximately 19,700 model-year 2004-06 Mazda B-Series North American pickup trucks built between March 24, 2003, and May 4, 2006, have been recalled as part of the ongoing Takata airbag inflator recalls

The Problem: In the event of a crash, deployment of the passenger-side frontal airbag could cause the inflator to rupture due to excessive internal pressure. If the inflator ruptures, metal fragments from the inflator could become projectiles that could cause injury or death for vehicle occupants.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the passenger-side front airbag inflator with an alternate inflator, free of charge.

What Owners Should Do: Mazda will begin notifying owners Jan. 17. Owners can call the automaker at 800-222-5500, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more. This recall supersedes recall 16V-048 for which vehicles received a replacement airbag; those vehicles that received the replacement airbag need to have an alternate inflator installed.
