Canada Gets Unique 2019 Ram 1500 Sport

Ram will offer the unique Ram 1500 Sport as a Canada-only model. Although other 2019 Ram 1500s will offer a Sport Package that can be paired with any trim level, the rest of North America will not get a separate, dedicated Sport trim.

The new model is a continuation of the previous-generation, Canada-only Sport trim, which has been the most popular Ram for Canada in the half-ton class. This time around, along with all the impressive benefits of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, the Sport will offer a unique monochromatic exterior with a blacked-out grille; 20-inch alloy wheels; black headlight bezels; black badging on the hood, doors and tailgate; and black surrounds framing the side windows. Although the dual exhaust system is standard, buyers will have the option to upgrade to a Sport hood to give it a more aggressive look (a dual window moonroof is also optional).

Inside, the all-black interior offers light-black chrome highlights, real metal trim and a diamond plate-look borrowed from the Ram 1500 Rebel center stack. The upper glove box, where all Ram 1500s display their trim level plaque, prominently displays a unique Sport badge. The heated cloth/vinyl seats are unique to the Canada-only model as well; power adjustable pedals and a heated steering wheel come standard.

The Sport will be offered in both crew- and Quad-cab configurations with either 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrains. The standard engine will be the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 combined with the eight-speed transmission. Ram Sports will go on sale in Canada by the end of the spring.

Very nice looking truck. Good job Ram.

Excellent!

I envy Canada only Vinyl seats.

a fellow could do a lot worse.

The RAM 1500 from 2009 till 2019 will be well remembered in years to come. Classic in the same way that mid 1950s Chevy hardtops are.

Step out from the past. The out-going RAM's been old-looking for a while now.

Ram has got the corporate truck look down. RIP Ram 2019.

Can you imagine?

This quote comes from a guy who raves about Ford in his comments. Ford hasn't had a classic looking pickup since the mid 1990s.

Take the worst of the 2018 Ram. Add the Honda Ridgeline. Then you have the 2019 Ram.

More fake Jeff S

I only tell the truth, lobbyist.

I like the huge sunroof. Is that available on US models?

Buying a car (or truck) with a sunroof is like having a pet elephant. Great to look at, but so what!

Every time I ever bought a car with a sunroof I ended up never using it. The kids would leave it open and it would rain every damn time they did!

papajim- I agree, I have one on the car and it was cool at first and have not used it in over 2 years.

@crunchtime

Now and then, don't forget to apply a little bit of slickum to those rubber seals too. I've actually seen service managers crack up when a customer comes in and requests a quote for replacing those damn seals.

Nice looking truck!! Still wanna see this model in person before I pass complete judgement. But it does have the front end of a Durango!!

I agree with sunroof, its added weight, I never use it enough for the price it costs to have it. Plus, some of them do leak!!

Looks a little girlish. Looks like something that Jarred Kushner would drive.

Not bad looking, to much black plastic on the hood is what they call "made to fade". 22" wheels no thanks, I wouldn't even want to jump a curb with those and its suppose to be a truck.

@papajim--I am starting to see the Ridgeline influence. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I know you hate the Ridgeline but that is only your opinion which you are entitled to I guess. Call it the chickification of trucks, but Ram is trying to change their trucks. Cars and trucks are different but Ram is trying to look more like a car. This is the least masculine truck of modern times. I think we are living in a culture that has beaten masculinity out of trucks. Feminism is to blame. Ram trucks are going to be in trouble because they are being demasculated.

"I've actually seen service managers crack up when a customer comes in and requests a quote for replacing those damn seals."

No you haven't.

If I didn't love my 2012 Ram Power Wagon so much, I would get a new 2019 Ram. Nice job to Ram for the redesign. Every truck maker has their Pros & Cons folks and unique styling ques.

It's a matter of personal preference and driving needs.

Check this one out.

The grill looks too small for the size of the hood, Ram isn't as good looking anymore

It looks good. The holes in the roof are an easy pass for me but the rest is nice.

@tony

your statement is an existential impossibility. Take the time to read, or have someone read it for you.

I believe the sun / moon roof is actually just stationary glass.

The 2019 Ram Looks like the 1997/2003 f150, Not bad but too much vanilla Style

Will it also come standard with a box of tampons for the ramgirls?

Something about this truck just doesn't seem right. The body seems to be bigger than the bed and hood. And those big rims with tiny tires aren't helping either.

Ugly

Biggest improvement by far is the passenger floor board no longer has the big hump so the passenger has room to extend their left leg out instead of just the right.

Best truck on the market hands down in my opinon.

I get kick out of people paying more for black this back that, when base models come with blacked out front ends. At least this Ram has a little more taste then looking like a over price 40 50 grand base model. For me, I like my chrome!

My ecoboost is way faster, and better looking than this Ram . My ecoboost has !ore power than a Cummins diesel too.

Your eco flop is slower then a Ram bY one simple reason, your eco flop with the car built v6 stuck in a truck will be wreaked and in the recycle for beers pile long before the Ram v8 will die from work duty. More power then a Cummins diesel? I don't see no factory built eco flop with over 900 ft of tq. Keep sucking down that blue cool aid kid. LMBO!

~3wks since Detroit auto show and John is the only one to say anything about the improved passenger floor board not having the hump anymore. Sure is nice to hear something different from time to time than "mine's better looking than your's or faster than your's." Goes to show why the big three cater so much to trim level and "facad" because that's much of what people get so riled up about. Seems if there were at most four trim levels and the rest of effort put on engineering, we'd have much more reliable and functional trucks.

Well since Ram with coil springs was the best handling 1/2 ton in the only test of its kind on PUTC. A slalom test with a 1,000lbs in the bed. RAM put Fords leaf springs to shame. We havent seen that test again. lol
Most Ford fans just focus on the top numbers for payload. They could care less how the truck handles that load. lol

IT'S ABOUT AERO WHICH RAM IS THE CLASS LEADER. MPG.
YOU CAN THANK THE GOVERNMENT FOR THAT.

@papajim,

Not much rain where I live, I have had several cars with sunroofs and very much enjoyed using them often or even daily, even the ones with manual cranks. Neither my current truck nor my last truck had one and I miss having them. If I ever order a new truck it will be one of the options I will check, if available.

UGH !
While driving I was reaching for the knob to turn the radio volume down,,,,, and the truck suddenly shifted into reverse

The sunroof was designed for owners that wished they had a convertible. Unless you remove the entire roof over the seating area, like a Corvette hardtop, you're not even close. Early Blazer's were uni-body, ball's-to-the-wall convertible pickups when the top was off. If you ever go for a spin in a convertible, you will be throwing rocks at your sunroof.

A friend said of mine; "That's a lot of money to look at the Moon."

Nowadays it is a good vent for Vape smoker's but if you need that much evacuation volume, you probably ought to pull over... or lay off the bean's at lunch.

Gotta say, I like the looks of the 1500 sport. Now if it were only 25% smaller and had front-opening rear doors on the extended cab rather than those inconvenient and ridiculous-looking rear-opening half-doors that only get in the way when you're trying to move stuff into and out of that area.

WOW, your a bad driver maybe some lessons may help you.? Lol

Nice job RAM...too bad it ain't for the US market...still waiting for that Hellcat version...

@Roadwhale, Vulpine, etc

If your truck is big enough it doesn't matter which way the damn doors point. Your statement twists itself into a pretzel asking for a smaller truck, all the while lamenting about how hard it gets to stuff your belongings to the back.

@PapaJim it makes a big differance, as you don't have the B pillar with clam shell suicide doors. What you can load in a truck with clam shell doors you can't even get through the opening when you have front hinged doors. Like I used to be able to put my mountain bike in the back of my extended cab Titan. I can't even get the handle bars through the opening on my Ram quad cab.
