GMC to Lift Curtain on 2019 Sierra in March

BW GMC Spy 4 II

After the reveal of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, we knew it was only a matter of time before we'd see its GM twin, the GMC Sierra 1500. And now we know when we'll see it.

GMC recently sent media invitations for the reveal of its all-new half-ton pickup truck in Detroit the first week in March. No doubt the new pickup will share foundational underpinnings and powertrain options (which includes a new turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six) with the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, but we expect some design and stylistic differences — not the least of which should be a much more luxuriously appointed interior in the Denali trim level.

We'll know more after we get a chance to see the new truck and interview (interrogate?) the engineers and designers. The new design could not have come at a better time for the Sierra, which has had flat sales numbers for both light- and heavy-duty models for both the 2016 and 2017 model years.

Let us know what you want to know about the new Sierra in the comment section below and we'll try to get the info for our upcoming stories.

7,4 big Block :-)

@Robert31

I like the way you think! I would love to see GM optimize the Gen 5 block architecture.

Surely they could use that block to build a 427 inch (they do with z6 Vettes...), why not a 7 liter Denali 10 speed?

/\ ummm no.

The real question.

Why not a decent looking Silverado? Why does the GMC get the better front end?

GM screws Chevy again.

Hope GM doesn't ruin the looks. Will make be decide if I'm keeping my 2015. I might keep it being I had no problem since new. My luck the first year design will have to many issues like most manufacture's.

JUNK JUNK JUNK JUST LIKE THE CHEVYOTA TUNDERADO. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. WHATCH A GARBAGE MOTORS FAN GIRLY START REPLAYING BY USING THIS PRECIOUS USERNAME EL CHINGON DE CHINGONES. I BET THE (THING) USING MY USERNAME IS GONNA CRY LIKE A LITTLE GIRL.

The wheel wells look awful to me. Heck, the current square ones that I can't stand look better than these. They look similar to the last generation Toyota Tacoma.

GM screwed GM. GMC got the best front end, but Chevy the proper wheel wells.

Silly boys...GM trucks are for girls. Or city dwellers who think they're men in most cases.

SORRY EVERYONE, I'M POSTING LIKE A MORON AGAIN.
FORGOT TO RENEW MY PRESCRIPTION.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The curtain has already been lifted.

Ha, don't go by the camouflage, the wheel wells on the GMC are more rounded like the new Silverado. The GMC has always been the better looking of the twins, so how did GM screw themselves???? These new GM trucks have some real good looks, I am hoping for an upgrade from Ford, with some more pronounced body lines instead of the flat panel boring look of the F150.
Anyway I think a lot of people are going to get on the GM bandwagon when these trucks show up , especially with an inline diesel engine. I like the fact that the F150 has a Diesel now, just need a new styling to match the GM and Ram offerings .

I already saw it without the camo. They are nothing like the Silvy.

They screw themselves by making the least selling better looking on the front end and the best selling better on the wheels but awful with the unfinished gilled front. Makes no sense. Ford and Ram have it right. Make one truck and do your best.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AND THE IDIOT FELL FIR IT!!!

What a loser!!

AND KEEP POSTING YOU LOOSER AND IDIOT!!!

Between this truck and the 2015-2018 F-150, I would say that the numales and millenials have taken to the F-150. You get a dainty tailgate step, a computerized system that can back the trailer up for you since obviously millenials and numales don’t know how, and the ads for the F-150 are just too good and convincing. A numale decides he wants to buy a truck, but it has to be the right one. He sees the latest commercial narrated by none other than Dennis Leary, smothering the ad with his smarmy tough attitude, bragging about how Ford is the only truck on the market with near-indestructible military-grade aluminum alloy technology (which can also be found in pop-cans but that’s not important) and tons of towing and payload capability you’ll never use or need, if you can even find the truck with those ratings on the dealer lot. You, the numale, want to look like the tough rugged man you want to be, and that means buying the truck… in the TV commercial… that says it’s the truck for tough rugged men that know which truck is the most tough and rugged (even though the aluminum bed rips apart when pointy things fall 2 feet on the the bed floor or that the front suspension is made of thin pieces of stamped steel instead of forged steel like the last F-150, or that the IWE’s that lock the front hubs for 4WD rely on cheap plastic gears that are famous for grinding up into dust or failing catastrophically when you need them most). The 2015-2018 F-150 is the truck for wives, numales, and millenials.

Wow, the comments are getting ridiculous with the second grade comments. Name calling and brand bashing yea the IQ's of these people must be in the negatives. PUTC needs to do something maybe require a login.

Don't be fooled by this cheap, piece of crap pictured. It's going to be made in Mexico and shipped north. Remember to buy trucks who's VIN starts with a '1'.

If it looks like the truck from the link above!!! I will be getting a new 2020...lwt then get the kinks out it the first year. Looks very good! Now give us the HP/TQ numbers already.

Guys, the pic posted by Carscoops is an artist rendering. Sure, it is close to what the actual truck may end up looking like, but there are details that are off, like the wheel arches.

I think GM will be holding the horsepower/torque numbers close to their chest for a while, to limit the amount of time competitors have to to apply their magic dust...

I think the 2019 Sierra looks great in the leaked pics. I'm seriously considering trade my 2015 in for one. The I6 diesel has me really interested too.

Silverado sells more then Sierra, so more people must like the Silverado, If you think the GMC is better looking you are shooting your own foot by buying the Silverado, and that ChinGon/ NutsGon HAHAHAHA Ford suck

@ the idiot with the username WATER/NUTLICKER YOUR POSTING DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE YOU FOOL.HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. MAYBE NEXT TIME IDIOT!!!!

DAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know we are talking today about the new 1500 series twins for 2018. However, when Gm launches the heavy duty models next year they need to offer (as a option across all lines....not just the high end trucks) a larger displacement/more powerful gas engine choice besides the standard 6.0L. There are plenty of us that need more power without breaking the bank on the Duramax engine option and the larger engine needs to run on standard 87 octane fuel......not premium fuel.

A new F-150 is discounted $12K to $15K OFF sticker price.
So you have to have rocks for brains to pay $8K to $10K MORE for a Ram or Silverado !
We buy value, we buy the most truck for the money!
Your Silverado or Ram is just not better enough to be worth the extra money !

after discounts my new F-150 was $33K
the NADA used price for my F-150 is $38K
so YOU figure that out !

@Liam, The snoops photo is dead on. The wheel openings are rounded on the front side and more squared to the back just like the spy photos just harder to see in the angle of the truck. Snoops put out the 2017 F250 photo 2 months early and nobody believed it either.

@ John

Based on the spy shots I believe the snoops rendering is very close. I'm sure some of the fine details will be slightly different but definitely gives us a good idea.

The one two smack down on crappy Ford will soon be seen! Then Chingon little ding dong will really have a reason to cry in all caps. LMBO!!!!!!

Looking forward to the modern small displacement 1/2 ton engine war. Ford, Chevy and GMC are way late to Fiat's party.

Its hard to imagine how an Inline 6cyl wont be a superior arrangement to a V6 small displacement diesel. But then again if GM is making it then anything is possible. Hopefully Isuzu is making it for them.

No, that would be the Mitsubishi dealer. And if things don't pick up soon, he'll also be homeless.

Between GM and Ford, I'd bet on GM getting it right. Even the 6.7 Scorpion has had plenty of issues, especially in the first 3 or 4 years. The L5P was a complete in-house redesign and has fared much better than the Scorpion did. The only reason the Ford 3.0 has a decent chance is because it's an old Peugot diesel.

I hope GM doesn't use 256-bit encryption on the 3.0's ECM/TCM like they are with the L5P.

This is just a render from someone. But I think its very accurate based on the spy photos. With that said...WTF is with the Fog Lamps? They are in the dumbest and highest spot on the truck, they might as well be in the headlamp... I can't be the only one who thinks they aren't going to sell many because the design looks like crap. Why don't they put the fog lamps lower into the front bar like they always have?

Okay I'll bite. So you paid $33K, claiming you got (minimum) 12K discount. So RETAIL for YOUR truck was $45K. NADA goes off retail for figures, not sale prices. So you lost $7K when you signed the papers, and probably another $3-4K when you drove it off the lot. AND you can add the Loan Interest $7-9K...You lost a lot more money than you are accounting for. Total Price with Loan Interest, about $55K and they blue book it at $38K...WOW you lost about $17K in reality. BTW ALL MANUFACTURERS have $10-12K deals on new trucks because they know they are about $20K overpriced. #truthbomb

I like how there's a bunch of you FORD and RAM guys on here looking for the '19 Sierra! hahaha its about time you came to your senses.
