Several popular pickup trucks took top honors in the recently announced 2018 Vincentric Best Value in America Awards.

Now in their 14th year, Vincentric's Best Value in America Awards are based on data collected from more than 3,000 vehicle configurations in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., using a range of annual mileage thresholds and insurance profiles. Although engine choice is factored into the data collection, it is not specified for any of the winners. The awards attempt to predict which vehicles are likely to offer the lowest cost of ownership during the next five years based on eight cost factors: depreciation, fees and taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost and repairs.

Three of the 2018 winners in the five pickup truck categories are previous winners. We've listed them from first to third place for each category.

Vincentric has a separate ratings for personal use and commercial use.
Ram may get best value for personal use 1 ton trucks but does not get that rating for commercial use. Ram usually does not get a decent rating from Vincentric. Same can be said for JD Power and Consumer Reports.
Toyota tends to get the best value award for the Tacoma in both personal and fleet classes.
GM and Ford usually get best value awards for both personal and commercial use.
A study done comparing ROI between gassers to diesels found that GMC had the best return on investment followed by Ford. Ford's placing included the infamous 6.0 and 6.4. That in itself shows how poor Ram trucks tend to be rated. Getting 3rd place behind Ford's crappy 6.0 and 6.4.

Bring on the brand loyal tr0lls!

It's an Oval, not a circle.

You failed!

Yup, Ram is the longest lasting pick ups.

Guts!

Glory!

Ram!

Interesting, the Titan has a 5 yr 100k bumper to bumper warranty, therefore not costing the owner a penny out of pocket for repairs, other than time and mileage driving to a dealer. Why didn't it make the list I wonder?

interesting how GM is on each list and Ford is only one 1 and yet Ford gets top truck brand???

I'll take my small block V8 and best desiel/trans in the business thank you!

TNT, what is more amazing is GM has multiple truck lines, far more than the rest on here and only has 1 win.

-CT

RAM may boast longest lasting pickups but if you take out the time for non service during recalls and time under repair they could not boast being longest lasting.

GM holds a top 3 position model truck in each series. F-250 can't crack the top 3 and it is the newest model.

Toyota Tacoma is consistent unlike other makes!

Tacoma is #1 on KBB retention of value...

Tacoma is #1 on lowest maint costs...

Tacoma is #1 on Consumer Reports reliability index...

Tacoma is #1 in sales...

Get it now Colorado junkies as to why more people still trust the Tacoma!

Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaah!
Everybody wins!
Good job, good job eeeeeeeveeeeeeryooooooone.

Now, what was the point of this?

best desiel/trans in the business thank you!
TNT, what is more amazing is GM is only rated 23,200 lbs for Fifth Wheel towing while the Ram and Ford are almost double that

@ECSD

Do you really believe the ratings? Do you want to buy a bridge?

@ Eating

You have a point. But when you are towing over 23K lbs, GM has found that most consumers don't tow more than that. When you get up into that large amount, you might as well get a semi-truck!!

BTW..at 23K lbs the Duramax BEAT your Ram and the new Super duty! So my point of being the best combo is factual!!!

Just a few days ago you had an article where the Nissan Frontier was the most economical truck yet it didn't make the list. From my personal experience the frontier is a very reliable truck only needing periodic maintenance such as oil changes. I suspect someone's data is skewed.

I agree with you Don E. Frontier is bullet proof, not hi-tech but bullet proof.
Not sure how the Taco still made it, my frame rusted in two(they replaced it and heard others up until the last few years are still having the issue. Toyota blames the frame manufacture mixing the wrong type of steel's, it has been going on for 15 years now...

Nice that the Honda Ridgeline placed #2 on this list.
Considered by some here only to be a car.
It however won 2017 North American Pickup Truck Of The Year

My Uncle drags a fifth wheel all over the US to compete in golf tournaments. He switched from Chevy to Ford and I asked witch truck he liked better. He wished he had stuck with Chevy. He may be pickier than most people, but I do tend to trust real world comparisons.

last time i checked Ford won the comparison, there's more to a truck than being the fasted up a hill look at semi-trucks you don't see them racing up a hill they are going up the hill letting the engine do it's job, this is also where the Ram's inline six really shines, there's are reason you don't see NASCAR using Diesel engines to race

@ Eatin

Why don't you believe GM rating? The Super Duty has always underachieved on its HP/TQ ratio. IN ALL 3 diesel engines its had over the past 18 years. Compared to GMs and Rams 1!!!

@ Eating

GM won more than just the race! Read the article. Maybe Ford FINALLY has built a 6.7 diesel that can compete (NOT WIN) against the GM and Ram engines!!!

My father in law owns a trucking business and he absolutely BRAGS all the time how his Freightliner can run faster, stronger, longer down the highway, up hill without shifting or loosing RPMs!!! It is important.

If I could go back and live my life over, knowing how best to invest to get rich, I'd buy as many GM dealerships as I could and I would enlarge every one of their repair facilities because those GM vehicles spend so much time in the shop they'd really make me rich. I know, I owned a slew of them before I figured out that, NO, it's NOT normal!

Why don't you believe GM rating? The Super Duty has always underachieved on its HP/TQ ratio

I'm talking about weight ratings, and you're right the Ford's always seem to under perform that's why i can't figure out why GM has such low weight ratings,

GM won more than just the race! Read the article. Maybe Ford FINALLY has built a 6.7 diesel that can compete (NOT WIN) against the GM and Ram engines!!!

Ford 2,352 points
GM 2,287 points

Yes of course. Ford guys are used to running in the slow lane.

@ Dave,

I have owned 3 Tacoma's in a northern state, none have had frame issues, so give it a rest!

The more you post, the more foolish you are. Do you really think you're using the same engine? You're a TOOL.

WTF are you talking about? Did you watch the Video of 3.5L vs 6.2L up the IKE Mountain. The wimpy 6.2L runs out of breathe.

GOODBYE!

@ Frank

Are you serious! One time, and I don't live in the mountains. The 6.2L has beaten the 3.5L in almost every comparison, except the last Ike gauntlet with new 10 spd and revamped 3.5L. The 6.2L is already 4 years old....GREAT JOB!!! It still can't beat it at normal elevation/alittle above or below sea level, MPGs, towing, durability/reliability/longevity, acceleration...do I need to go on. I could post you links , but its useless giving you facts bc you have such a fixed mindset its ridiculous and annoying!!
Goodbye to you old man!!!

Many people do, and that's where your truck is garbage.

Go eat your baby food.

Again, one time!!! MANY MORE DON'T live in the mountains!!!!! Great job again though!!

Again, FIXED MINDSET

look it up it will have your picture by it!

Here's hoping they bring back the Cyclone!! But in a full size edition!

Hopefully Ram brings back an SRT version as well! That was a very nice truck in the late 2000's

When you're a GM humper, all you can do is HOPE!

@ Frank

When your alone, afraid, not very intelligent, loves insulting bc it makes him feel superior, and enjoys be to get lied too....well your Frank!
