2009 Suzuki Equator Pricing Announced

Suzuki has announced pricing for the new 2009 Equator midsize pickup, which is based on the Nissan Frontier.

The entry-level extended cab base Equator starts at $17,995 with a 171-horsepower, 2.5-liter DOHC inline-four-cylinder engine with 171 pounds-feet of torque, a five-speed manual transmission and two-wheel drive. A 261-hp, 4.0-liter V-6 with 281 pounds-feet of torque, a five-speed automatic and either two- or four-wheel drive is also available.

A crew cab Equator is available with three trim packages, all powered by the 4.0-liter V-6 and five-speed automatic. The base crew cab model with two-wheel drive starts at $23,985, while the crew cab Sport, which adds aluminum alloy wheels, cruise control, and power windows and door locks, goes for $25,150 with two-wheel drive and $28,095 with four-wheel drive. All crew cab models include a factory-applied spray-on bedliner and five-channel tie-down system to secure loads.

The top-of-the-line RMZ-4 Off-Road version of the Equator starts at $29,325. It comes with Dana 44 axles, an electric rear locking differential, Bilstein high-performance shocks, skid plates, BFGoodrich Rugged Trail P265/75R16 tires, fog lamps, chrome mirrors and door handles, unique RMZ-4 seat material with red contrast stitching, chrome instrument cluster and vent trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

An optional Sport Package for $2,050 on RMZ-4 models adds a factory-installed moonroof, stability control, hill descent control, hill hold control, a 380-watt Rockford-Fosgate six-CD XM Satellite Radio with eight high-performance speakers and a subwoofer, an auxiliary input jack for MP3 players, and a Bluetooth hands-free phone system.
