Still writing the post-race story to publish early this coming week. This picture was taken a few miles before the finish line. There will be more action photos in the article.

If you're wondering how you might feel the day after chasing and riding in the Raptor R, it's slightly sunburned and sore. I was strapped firmly in the MasterCraft race seats but still got tossed around pretty good on hard landings and over 300 yard long sand washes. My ears are almost back to normal. The constant roar of the 6.2-liter V-8 was like a Raptor rock concert the entire ride.

Writing up the story about yesterday's experience. Here are shots of the Raptor R taking off from the starting line.

Just arrived back in Los Angeles. The Raptor R finished the Terrible's 250 in second place in its category. Its driveshaft was replaced before starting the second lap.

We'll have photos and more details from the race later today (Sunday).

Thanks to those who followed us on Twitter! We're kinda, sorta sure it's the first time anyone has tweeted live from an off-road race truck during a race.

Ford shared pricing for the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor at last night's driver's prep meeting. The 5.4-liter V-8 starts at only $38,995. Yowza! That's only about $3,000 more than a well-equipped F-150 FX4 model.

We're up, fed and getting ready to drive from L.A. to Primm. Twitter will be the best way to follow us over the next day or so.

I've got a camera I can mount to my race helmet to capture the passenger's perspective inside the truck. Hopefully I'll have cool video to post after the race.

Remember the Ford F-150 Raptor R Baja 1000 kinda sorta liveblog we did last year? Well, tomorrow we'll be livin' the dream at the "Terrible's 250" at Primm, Nevada, about 50 miles outside of Las Vegas. Ford just extended an invite yesterday morning to ride in the Raptor R's third seat during the fifth stop of the 2009 Best In The Desert Racing Association's off-road series.

How is the Raptor R different from the stock 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor you'll be able to buy starting this summer? The Raptor R uses mostly off-the-shelf components that will come on the production Raptor, including the transmission, brakes, axles, rear spring hangers and frame. It's powered by a specially calibrated 500-horsepower version of Ford's new 6.2-liter V-8 engine, and it sports a beefed up Fox Racing suspension.

We'll do our best to keep you updated about how it goes during the next 24 hours or so on this page. For more frequent updates, follow us on Twitter, assuming we can get a signal on our Blackberry.
