Update 1: Retested 2010 Toyota Tundra Scores Five-Star Safety Rating

Retested: 2010 Toyota Tundra Scores Five-Star Safety Rating

Update #1 August-05-2009 03:50 PM PDT:
Here's Toyota's response to our inquiry about safety upgrades and changes to the Tundra for 2010 that helped it reach a five-star rating in NHTSA's frontal crash testing:

"There were no major structural [frame] changes," Toyota spokesman Greg Thome told PickupTrucks.com this afternoon. "There was the addition of driver and passenger knee airbags, plus a re-calibration of the seat belt and steering column energy management. Along with these hardware changes, we also tuned the software calibrations as well."

---

Can new five-star head-on crash-test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration help the Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck regain sales traction with consumers and remove a marketing weakness that the Detroit Three have taken advantage of?

Toyota was surprised in 2007 when the all-new Tundra rated only four out of five stars for driver and front passenger safety (in all cab configurations) while its Detroit competitors — the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Ford F-150, GMC Sierra 1500 and Dodge Ram 1500 — earned perfect five-star scores. Toyota's internal testing had indicated the Tundra should have also earned five stars.

A five-star score indicates that the chances of suffering serious injuries are less than 10 percent, while a four-star score means the chances are 11 percent to 20 percent.

The lower safety rating gave Chrysler, GM and Ford an opportunity to exploit the Tundra's federally measured safety gap in their marketing and promotional efforts, as they each launched all-new light-duty pickups during the past three years, even as the Tundra quietly earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's 2008 Top Safety Pick award — the first time a pickup had been recognized with this honor. The 2009 Ford F-150 later earned the same IIHS award.

2010 Toyota Tundra NHTSA Frontal Crash Test Scores

Spokespeople from Toyota reaffirmed the 2010 Tundra's minor exterior and interior updates, plus its brand-new 4.6-liter V-8 engine (please see our comprehensive road test), but had nothing to add, nor any knowledge about any structural changes to the 2010 Tundra's frame or other safety enhancements that could have given the truck improved crashworthiness.

The new five-star crash-test ratings have been earned by the 2010 Double Cab and Crew Max models equipped with side airbags. The regular cab hasn't been tested yet. Pictures on NHTSA's website show the brand-new 2010 Tundras tested.

Year-over-year sales of the Tundra are off more than 50 percent, as Toyota's big pickup has struggled with several other glitches since its launch and has been hurt by a tremendous drop in interest from casual truck shoppers hurt by the recession and stung by last year's spike in fuel prices.

Did Toyota fix the Tundra frame rust issue?

Yeah this "car" earned a 5-star rust rating as well, it is a new NHTSA category for foreign crap. 5 stars or not it is a big piece of JUNK!!!!!! Why do these morons at toyota and nissan even bother to try to compete with Ford or GM in the truck market? Do they honestly think a construction company is going to trade-in their fleet of F-150's, F-350's Silverado 2500's and 3500's for this??? I think not. The sales numbers speak for themselves. Get out of a market where you don't belong. Leave the TRUCKS to the folks that have invented the truck, and have been building them for over 100 years.

hmmm I think Daimler invented the first truck.... May be they invented the first truck in USA...

It's ugly, that the one point. The other is - should this car look like a mix from F-150 and Ram? It has perhaps nothing what's more Toyota like...except logo! I hate such a behavior in car industry - see Kia and other similar car brands.

No actually Ford invented the first pick-up truck in 1900. Here is a timeline:

1900
Henry Ford builds his third vehicle – a truck.
1917
Ford introduces the Model T One-Ton truck chassis, its first chassis specifically built for trucks.

1925
The first factory-assembled pickup debuts, with a price tag of $281. It featured a cargo box, adjustable tailgate, four stake pockets and heavyduty rear springs.

Like I said before, toyota has no place in a market where they don't belong!! Look inside this truck too, all of the CHEAP PLASTIC and it looks like they took a dash-board from all of their models, glued it together and stuck it in this monstrosity

The first motor truck was built in 1896 by the German automotive pioneer Gottlieb Daimler. Daimler's truck had a four-horsepower engine and a belt drive with two forward speeds and one reverse. It was the first pickup truck. Daimler also produced the world's first motorcycle in 1885 and the first taxi in 1897.

Now that Tundra has improved, will Dodge improve their marginal side crash rating and will GM improve their poor rating?

F-150 is 5 stars and good all around.

If Dodge and GM trucks were that good why they are now in bankrupcy, thought Ford had hard times but did not go into bankrupcy.Toyota and Nissan are noy even near bankrupcy or that's what I heard.

It's sad to see what importance Dodge and GM put on safety. Dodge still has not added the torso bags for 2010 - is that correct? Will GM step up their crash test ratings?????

Three Half-Ton Pickups Rated Poor or Marginal in Crash Tests:
"...The Dodge Ram with standard side airbags received a Marginal rating......it lacks torso airbags....the Silverado’s optional side airbags don’t improve its rating over models without them. "
http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/02/three-pickups-rated-poor-or-marginal-in-crash-tests.html

Hey you rednecks don't get 5 star crash ratings, ABS, Traction Control, Stability Control and side cushion airbags.

That's infringing on your right to mutilate yourself in a high speed crash!

All the above mentioned stuff is for us socialist, commies.
All you get for safety equipment is a copy of the Bible!
:P

"Why do these morons at toyota and nissan even bother to try to compete with Ford or GM in the truck market?"

The Tacoma seems to be kicking the big 3 combined in sales lately!

The Dakota, Ranger and Colorado just cannot compete with a Tacoma...

Dakota can barely keep sales...

Ranger has dangerously low mounted torsion bars...

Colorado is too small...

And all 3 have nice rear lower shock mounts below the axle...

@leeroy...why would i care how the company i bought a product from is doing financially...what really matters is how the product does...anyways...a lil better safety isnt going to get me to change my mind on which truck to buy

Well Jef, if you don't like it don't buy it, why come on these boards and talk hate, Sounds like your a little scared that Toyota might have a truck thats better then yours if you ask me.

is leeroy stupid ? gm and dodge along with ford, toyota and nissan all make good trucks. so dont make stupid statements. you sound like a person that will buy a ford no matter what.

I agree I don't think you can go wrong with any of the full size trucks on the market, all have thier pro's and con's. The Ford is the best built truck in my opinion but the engine is lacking, the Toyota on the other hand has the best engine but the ride is harsh and interior not so great. And you can go on about the other models the same way.

I would have in order of:

1. Ford F150
2. Dodge Ram 1500
3. Chevy Silverado
4. Toyota Tundra
5. Nissan Titan

I honestly believe the domestics are on top. The Toyota has a powerful 5.7 and a beefy looking front end. Thats about it. The Nissan really needs an update. The Chevy is nice, but it's a bit mediocre in comparison to the Ford and Dodge now. The Dodge's let downs are that it wanted to be a pickup version of an SUV with coil springs. That would be like Ford using the Expedition's IRS for the F150. The Ford's letdown is only in power. It's smooth, it's big, it looks tough, it feels tight and well built, its comfortable and tows a lot. That power issue the Ford has, could easily be fixed with a nice Boss 6.2 engine. It's not that the 5.4 feels slow, it's more that it feels "adequate" at best.

Lot of insecure hucklebucks around here, that's for sure! Fact is Toyota is on top. WORLD'S NUMBER 1 AUTO MANUFACTURER. Period, end of story. Toyota has just started to turn their attention to big trucks, and I think that with their Hino division turning out some of the best commercial trucks money can buy, I expect great things. 3/4 and 1 ton Tundra's are gonna make life tough for your Super Duty, and you can bet Toyota will clobber the competition with better durability and resale.

I am almost 20 months into my Tundra for my trucking business. Every truck and I mean every truck has its pros and cons. I would never say this truck or that truck is better because I got news for you put any of theses vehicles in commercial service and you will see things you wish you had not. For those who use their trucks like they should instead of pretty sub-divison grocery go getters know what they look for in a truck to haul, deliver, produce revenue for their business. I have had some trucks in 39 years in the business. My present truck a 2008 Tundra is as good as any truck out there...no question. I have even moved my Sterling when the starter went and with the big Cat Diesel it weighs 14000 and some change. Now is it perfect...of course not. The interior leaves much to be desired but it is fine. The tailgate needs to be redsigned somewhat but it has never bothered me and if I am loading ugly stuff that is very heavy I just take it off. Toyota should observe the F150 tailgate. It would be a nice improvement. Drive train is awesome & trans is very tough and smooth 6-speed. Inside room is great..it seems almost huge. Fuel system is very reliable, no starts have never happened. It does not ride like a F150, it rides somewhat rough because of spring rates but some relief can be had by adjusting down air pressure if one is not towing or hauling heavy. Box is deep like the F150 which I like alot. There have been some really interesting things said about the frame of the new Tundra..especially from those who don't own one or have not put a 5th wheel setup on or towed a large trailer with a Tundra. Well guess what????this frame is strong, no question about it. The Tundra has outboard shocks they have likened after the F150, which was a good move. They have also sized the wheels bearings to the same dimension of the f250 which I also like. The 10.5inch 4.30 thick rear gear needs no comments. It will do what has to be done. They need to improve the truck in several areas I think but will they do it? That is a question that maybe hard to answer because of the economy. I paid about 31500 for this truck and it is worth every penny. Now if I can just get a heavy tailgate, better and produce a nicer ride so I don't have to keep 1000 lbs of tools in the back it would be a interesting truck for my business. At any rate I like most pickups and try to educated myself on most of them.

Maddog

Now i respect Maddogs reply. He owns a Tundra, is happy with it.. Fair enough....
But Big Bob, calling everybody who doesn't think the Toyota is the best thing out there "insecure hucklebucks" and needing to type in caps "WORLDS NUMBER ONE!!" blah blah blah... with not one fact in there.
How does the existence of a Tundra make life tough for a SuperDuty owner? What, so you're driving down the road, you see another car, and all of a sudden, life just got tough? LOL. Idiot. And on top of that, referring to a 3/4 ton and 1 ton Tundra.... a vehicle which does not exist, never has, and never will exist! So it's your fantasy world....
And by the way, the Tundra has zero shared parts with a Hino.
And the resale thing. Well there is a basic law of economics called supply and demand. It has nothing to do with quality, just supply and demand.
There are less Tundras on the used market. Go to autotrader.com See how many used F150s, Silverados etc are in your area. New and used! Then try to find Tundras. Sorry, but they haven't made as many, Toyota doesn't flood the market like the domestics do. So resale is higher.
frame strength comparison http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRfE_XAk2mE
None of this is going to convince you though Bob, I am just proving that you are a fanboy.

And what are you Alex? You're a fanboy in your own right. The truck does everything Maddog has asked of it. What more could you want? I've got a 08 Tundra as well and I'm a contractor and guess what, the truck has exceeded my expectations. I've loaded the bed with everything from several pallets of tile to thirty, five gallon pails of paint. I've towed around hot tubs, trailers and other vehicles without problem. So tell me Alex, for what reason should I not like this truck? I've got nothing but praise from others who have used my truck as well.

It's not a one ton or a dually. No. Nobody ever said it was. That's like comparing a Chevrolet 1500 to a 3500. Why would you do that? It's a 1/2 ton truck like most of the pickups out there.

Alex, what is problem basically is, is that you're in an argument with yourself. Your trying to convince yourself that the Tundra is a "bad" truck and perhaps by "converting" current Tundra owners to your belief it might somehow add to your internal conflict.

All Toyota trucks have always had great resale value. Go and check. I've got a 93 T100 sitting in my yard that without a doubt is worth more than an average 93 domestic truck. Go check out what Tacomas go for. They still demand a high value.

Good factual post, Alex. I'm learning something new here each day. Thank you.

I agree with Alex in the fact the "big blob" is an idot!! Toyota is not number 1. In fact if you looked at the months April through June Ford sold more vehicles than toyrota. Toyota is nothing but a bunch of hyped-up garbage. Why anyone would buy a Tundra over a domestic is beyond me. Maybe because the tundra does extremely well as a grocery-go-getter! The fact of the matter is the tundra doesn't even come close to the F-150's payload or towing capabilities, and the Super Duty is in a whole other class altogether. And last time I checked Ford's reliability was rated better than toyota!! Stop selling your country out to those fools in japan!! Fact is Ford is number 1 period end of discussion!!!

Ric17, it's like you didn't read a word I said. I pointed out Tundras two strengths. I said I respected Maddogs opinion. People can like whatever they want. But Bob's post was just saying Number one etc etc, all you people are just insecure etc. That was actually something that was said if you look at the other posts. Something that YOU said that I said... You even put it in "quotation marks"... so you're not making the assumption I am trying to say this. You actually said that I said The Toyota Tundra is "bad.". Can you actually point out where I said this? Ric you also must missed where Bob said "3/4 and 1 ton Tundras are going to make life tough for your SuperDutys" so yes Ric, somebody DID say that.
And for calling me a fan boy, not in the slightest! I drive a Chevy...I belive Ford makes the best truck currently, I believe the Camaro is better than the Ford Mustang... I look at cars for what they are, not what badge is on them. I already explained resale values to you. I won't explain it again. But you're probably right about the Tacoma being the best in that class. I picked out my dads Toyota Hilux in Australia which is kinda the same thing. The problem is, I don't really give a crap about midsize. I like full size, and Ford leads the market in that segment. You Toyota fanboys can keep using personal attacks like insecure, internal conflicts etc... but there aren't many facts on Toyotas side. Horse Power is the only thing in it's favor. That one strength won't be for a whole lot longer.

Wow. I have owned a Ford F150, Checy silvarado and Dodge 1500 Quad Cab. Everything electrically failed on my 99 F150 and the front end had to be rebuilt at 46k. My chevy's fuel pump crapped out at 33k and left me stranded, my Dodge well, I had to file under the Texas lemon law. I must say I think the 99 F150 4x4 was fords best design, but the engine was 5.4 triton, was very weak. I believe Chevy builds a a good truck, but Dodge, know way!! The Tundra is by far the most powerfull 1/2 ton on the road. I had the honor of seeing a truck challenge with all 3 domestics and the Tundra. The Tundra simply blew them all away. Go drive a Tundra Crew Max with the TRD off road package and the 5.7 engine. I still respect ford because they did not take the socialist hand out from the government, but GM, Dodge, they are worthless. Toyota is a great company and for all you morons that speak ill of Toyota, well they employ over 45 thousand Americans. Soon enough, Toyota will rule the truck market, it simply is a better vehicle. Have a great day. Oh yeah, how are those unions doing for the big 3:)

Hey Dan, the only moron here is you. Just becuase you had 1 bad truck doesn't mean they are all bad. Lets face it 99 wasn't a good year for any of the automakers!! I have owned 10 count it again 10 F-150's having had over 200,000 miles on each of them before getting another one doing routine maintenance as recommended. I had a 99 and didn't have 1 electrical problem or any problem for that matter!!!! Oh yeah and:
"The Tundra is by far the most powerfull 1/2 ton on the road. I had the honor of seeing a truck challenge with all 3 domestics and the Tundra. The Tundra simply blew them all away. Go drive a Tundra Crew Max with the TRD off road package and the 5.7 engine. (Yeah they have done a real bang up job so far, recall after recall service bulletin after bulletin. Yeah great quality that will rule the truck market.....NOT!!!!) You sound like you are on toycrappa's payroll. Sounds like they drivers of the domestics that you "challenged" let you win! They are not the best trucks out there they are GARBAGE!!! Smarten up idiot!!

Ford trucks77, amazing. Are you actually going to state with an honest face that Toyota's quality can be matched? I did not totally dog Ford mindless one. I have owned 2 F150's, 2 chevy's and 2 dog, I mean dodge pick up trucks. There is such hatred for Toyota, it is quit funny. Ford, GM and Dodge have way more recalls than Toyota. The thing with Toyota is that they will improve, level up and move on. Ford, for your pathetic information is following now in Toyota's foot steps. The current management team loves the Toyota way and that is a fact. Enjoy your union, whats left of it.

Wow .. what a pissing match!

In regards to the bailout money I find it interesting that no one knows the whole story. Maybe its because they don't want to.

Ford was lucky to enough to get a nice big loan before the economy started to tank and before the credit crunch. GM and Chrysler did not make such a move, and I will admit Ford must of seen the writing on the wall.
Now, all 3 of these auto makers showed up in congress asking for money. Ford, having just taken the loan saw all the strings attached and said hell no. The other two unfortunely did not have a choice. The economy tanked an all automakers lost a crap tone of money.

Oh and Toyota has also asked Japan for over 3billion in funds to help them in this economy.

I like this site for the Articles that Mike Levine does, but it seems everytime there is an article about a non-ford truck the Ford Fanboi's come out screaming its "junk." Just like an insecure child.

Dan, you are dogging Ford being the only American auto company out there that isn't 60% UAW owned. Ford is still the only public traded company. And yes most definately I am going to state that toyota's quality can be matched. It already has and was been. Look at the latest J.D. Inital quality studies. Ford has outmatched toyota on every category in the total T.G.W. (that is things gone wrong) with new vehicles. Toyota has not has a blemish free track record. Look at the Tacoma and Tundra's they are buying back because the ROT OUT LIKE A TIN CAN!!! A freind of mine at a toyota dealership up here in the northeast showed me a technicians manual which is filled with TSB's (technical service bulletins) that is thicker than the holy bible!! How about safety? Why is it Ford has more 5-star safety rated vehicles than ANYONE? Why has Ford sold more cars under the "cash for clunkers" program than anyone else? So the only one with a bunch of crap information is you. Everything is union with you. If toyota was doing so great, why did they already close one of the junk producing, oops I mean tundra plants down south?????

Tundra is "Reliable"

1.Torque Converter Shutter
2.Faulty Camshafts
3.Piston Knock
4.Tailgate's seperate at the Seam/buckle under pressure from loading ATV's or heavy loads.

All in the first year.

Tundras are garbage. always have always will be crap, the 09 150 is safe 360, Tundras just suck.

I just love stupid comments like one manufacturer is "junk" and the other is "garbage". True scholars from the debate team. Let's just be honest here people. This seems like a legitimate and mature website that is for the most part impartial.

None of the full sized trucks are junk or garbage. They're all good trucks. Each and everyone of them are well built machines. Each has its advantages and its drawbacks, but these manfacturers do know what they're doing. Anyone who argues this is simply ignorant and a fool. I like them all.

I think the Ford is very well built machine but its lacks power, resale value and I don't really like its looks. I think the new Ram looks great. I love the dual exhaust stretching out through the rear bumper. It's got a pretty nice interior too. I'd have to pass on the way the Chevy looks, but the GMC would be my 2nd choice next to the Tundra. The Nissan is a decent truck too, but from my experience alone, after having owned umpteen Toyota trucks (from Tacomas to T100s to Sequoias to Tundras), the new Tundra was for me.

Hurry up duel fuel direct injection trucks

Brad

Wow......amazing. What started out as an FYI on the Tundra's safety rating has escalated into who builds the better truck. For the record....nobody I mean nobody builds a bullet proof truck. Every brand and model has some form of recalls and lemons amongst its inventory. Each customer walking in off the street to buy what you guys claim as the better built truck may end up with one of these so called lemons. In fact it could be you on your next purchase! So before you spout off about how wonderful a Toyota, Ford, GM, or Dodge truck you have, just remember there's no guarantee your next one will be a jewel.

Well said Brad, Full size trucks have always been a pissing match even between the dometics themselves.

Ford77 -

According to the 2009 NHTSA report, American Automobile Labeling Act, Toyota Tundra the highest North American parts content of any Full Size Pickup at 80%. GM and Ford are both at 75%, and GM builds Silverado outside of NA.

I laugh at people that say to buy domestic to keep the money in the US. Unless you are a bondholder (who just got screwed) or a shareholder (who also just got screwed), the money is not going to you. Ford and GM have invested billions in factories outside of the US. Where do you think that money came from? Chrysler was owned by Germans until 3 years ago, and is now owned by Italians. Does money from buying a Chrysler go to Italy - according to your logic?

Toyota and other manufacturers have facilities all over the world. Toyota just happens to have 15 manufacturing plants and an investment of over $19B in the US and Canada.

By the way. I have owned a Mustang since 1990. I love the car, but from day one I learned to accept the fact that it squeaks, rattles, things fall off of it, and I every time I wash my car, my seat will be wet from the leaks.

The above post is incorrect. The Chevy Silverado is manufactured at Flint, MI., Pontiac, MI, and Fort Wayne, IN. Some Silverados are built in Mexico for the Mexican market, and GM used to operate a truck plant in Ontairo, Canada. Interesting to note that Toyota's Hino builds commercial trucks in West Virginia, but Ford's commercial trucks are built by International in Mexico.

http://www.hino.com/hino/

I have 1 Question, Why didn't they make the Tundra Fully box Frame instead of 3 different sections? I'm just curious and if you know they're shocks are out board just like the F-150... Toyota is coming around pretty good. There some things I don't like is the Plastic inside and Dash cluster. I like the Crew Max. Anyway maybe 1 day they will put a Full Box Frame under... God Bless!!!

The Tundra is a good truck, but I'm not sure who its targeted at. It seems to be a very good tow vehicle and can be set up to exceed most of the domestic entry level full size trucks. But by the time I exceed an F-150's towing, there's an F-250 that whallops the Tundra. The domestic truck makers probably shouldn't race to make their trucks bigger and badder and risk diferentiating them from their 250/350 level products.

No one but a moron has even bought a Tundra, they are so inferior to the Big 3's trucks, sales of it have fallen 65% since last year. Even bankrupt the Silveraldo stills out sells the F150 3 to 1, if Ford didn't count their F450,550,650,750,850, and 950's they could not claim the the "F series is the best selling truck" haha. But is is still 3x the truck the Tundra is and Chevy is 5x the truck. Tundra, with engine failures and bed flex, vibrations and ugliness, is a real peice of crap only a complete moron would drive.

I just love stupid comments like one manufacturer is "junk" and the other is "garbage". True scholars from the debate team. Let's just be honest here people. This seems like a legitimate and mature website that is for the most part impartial.

Well stupid, your Tundra is junk, why don't you get un-stupid and read up on it.

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/toyota_tundra.html

Interesting that you could be so wrong TJ, especially when this site regularly puts out accurate sale figures for trucks. The Silverado 1500 is currently lightly outselling the F150 and in years past this has not been the case. 3-1 Silverado 1500 sales to F150 sales is completely untrue. Here's your link: http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/07/beyond-the-numbers-2009-year-to-date-sales-figures-for-fullsize-pickups.html

I have owned Ford's, Chevy's GMC's, never a Dodge...and have enjoyed them all however, the '07 Toyota Tundra I presently have is by far the best of them all...
If anyone uses a government or private "crash test rating" to determine what vehicle to buy they should remember adverse and negative advertisement concerning those "killer"
jeeps that rolled over....did jeep change? Not much but the damage was done for awhile. I find most of the consumer ratings are like the newspapers, ake a good look at the people who "make" the news..yes, make the news, not report it...do you really believe what they "report" is how it really happened...Oh yea, don't forget what the great consumer advocate Ralph Nader did to the Ford Pinto...just because of a personal conflict he had with Henry...

Nice. I can't wait to get a r/c with a 5.7l v8. Great looking truck and sure more reliable than the other three manufacturers.

''is leeroy stupid ? gm and dodge along with ford, toyota and nissan all make good trucks. so dont make stupid statements. you sound like a person that will buy a ford no matter what. ''

Liresa dont event argue im just saying because all those guys were complaining about the Tundra and to be honest yes i could buy a F150 or Tundra i like both as i do like the Ram and Silverado and Sierra and every freaking automaker isnt perfect now I bet that everybody knows here that a car's life is based on the maintanance and if u guys dont give that to the trucks sorry but it would not last long enough. Anyway call me stupid or whatever you want hahaha i dont really care thats why these forums are made have a great day LOL

Ford 77 is too funny. He actually accused someone else of being on Toyota's payroll and he acts like the head or marketing for Ford LMAO.

if you dont like it then dont buy it...and toyota may be OK at some points but even if they one day out perform the big 3(not likely) in everything they will never be the number one selling truck in america...im not saying that to be biased but its true..ford,dodge, and chevy already own it and i really dont see them losing it anytime soon

Quit smoking the weed dopers when you say how awesome Ford and Chevy as compared to Toyota. I have a 2001 F250 7.3L Diesel. In it's first 6OK miles i have "repaired" it to the tune of almost 12K including a new transmisson because Ford didn't match the engine output to the tranny. That was $4k ti use good parts for the repair, aka not Ford parts. Then we can talk about $2K to fix the injectors, coutless trips for recalls because Ford can seem to build a Cam Positioning Sensor that works. Even the paint started peeling off in less than 2 years. It is junk, my Explorer was junk, and they will be the last american cars I will ever own. Pass the reefer boys, maybe I can whack out of mind as well.

Nice post. 2010 Toyota Tundra is a worlds best heavy duty vehicles. Toughest and reliable material produced on this planet. Tundra and the Hilux are very much similarities. Headlight are very upgraded and five manually adjustable settings. In terms of feature Smaller 4.6 liter V8 engine compared to the older 4.7 liter engine. Toyota Tundra have capacity is around 1424 pounds, maximum capacity of 8300 pounds. The interiors are very simple with comfortable furniture. Good amount of power with high mileage. For more details refer http://www.macktruck.org/2010-toyota-tundra-review.html

I happened to buy a 2008 Tundra last year, Drove it 8k miles and was so disappointed in the ride, and entry and exit that I got rid of the Teddy Roosevelt rough rider. Got all my money back on trade in, for a Lexus. LOL.. This year bought a 09 Silverado and happy with the ride. Same price. very happy. I don't need 500-1000 pounds in the bed to keep it smooth to ride. The entry and exit from driver side does not hurt the guys, as the stretch is much less. Seat is easier to side into, because of different material, that does not stop you from slipping into the groove. The digital read out is so much better in the Chevy than the red lighted Toyota, and Computer read out is actually viewable during the day time when wipers are running. Yes the Tundra has pick up and go, and plenty of hauling, But it also has the thinnest pain on any vehicle every owned. I also own a Merc Van, Toyota Avalon, and a 99 GMC, that all run great.
The Chevy interior is much more to my liking than the Tundra, but back seat is better in Toyota. Guess I will always be a GM Truck owner,

My company leased a 2010 Tundra Limited in Oct 09 the truck is great. I never had a PU before just cars and SUVS such as a blazer and now my Dodge Durango that everyone always seemed to knock except mechanics. My dodge has 84k and still runs great. My Tundra was picked because FORD, GM AND DODGE wanted a co maker a large down payment and 3 years of financials. We thought they were going to ask for blood next. Toyota Financial only asked to see a letter from the IRS with our corporate tax ID number and the name of our company on it. That was it. First payment on delivery. THAT WAS IT. Of course my company has great credit and I guess they checked D&B and other business credit reporting companies but it was very easy to do corp only with them. That was the main reason we went with the Tundra. Just a note an American wrote a book on how to build a better car and took it to the big three. They all told him to take a walk. He went to Japan and they listened.
