September 2009 Top 10 Year-to-Date Pickup Truck Sales

Notable Items:

  • Second month in a row that Ford F-Series sales are up over a year earlier due to increased incentives, fleet sales growth and interest from core truck buyers and small businesses.
  • Dodge Dakota sold only 399 units in September
  • Honda Ridgeline sold 1,430 units in September
Update #1: Corrected YTD sales for Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Sierra

Comments

OOOppppss Sierra is listed twice. Wonder if that means it's twice as good?

@CreigMac: Fixed!

Two points:

1) YTD: F-series is selling more than GM and Chevy combined.

2) We can finally stop hearing the claim that Dodge "lost the least."

I see the ranger is #7. According to most of you guys, it's so old that it should be taken out back and shot. Fact is Tacoma is twice as much because of its dubble cab. Tacoma is a house truck, not a work truck.

wo somthing is rong chevy have the same number from august ,209,986,,,huummm mabe 242,408 and gmc is 83,846 total for gm 326,254...and ford number is right..

@miath: Noted and fixed. Thanks!

ya man, now shut up gm people, gm was lame enough to make both the sierra and the silverado and now Ford has beaten both of the numbers COMBINED!!! dodge your out for the count to.

4words: Bailout & Bankrupt Free! = Ford =capitolist freedom

-Christ Bless

ok ,,,this is right sorry..

why do ford guys always come across as being so stupid?

liresa
let me guess you like the rest of the uneducated public think that ford took the bailout money. well guess what they didn't look it up! Ford denied the money and as a result since they didn't take the corrupt government money they didn't go bankrupt like gm & chrystler. why do you think the papers say ONLY GM & Chrystler!?! Ford is the only American vehicle company left because they are the only 1z who go by the capitolitic system way of life. so weather you like it or not Ford & my 2nd favorite Toyota are the best in vehicle quality and for being the best vehicles.

Looking forward to the T6 when Ford brings it out. No idea on specs but like the double cab.

good to see ford is selling lots of delivery trucks, garbage trucks, fire trucks and utility trucks but how many pick ups did they sell? F series 150,250,350,450,550,650,750,850,950.

Uneducated? You spelled at a 2 grade level. If you are an example of toyota customers that explains why twits buy them.

lol to whoever said ford guys come across so stupid, why do chevy guys get mad when there truck are outsold 3-1 by the payload, and towing king, reliability king, Construction king, fear the 2011 superduty, just like chevy guys fear every ford, because chevy cant afford to redesign there truck, ford is smart chevys are dumb, but still not as bad as Toyota Tundra, man that thing is a turd, need to stop production.

ford is a nice truck, but to pull a trailer, sorry this is not the best..don't wast your time ,gm and dodge,,Toyota,, good puller,,and Nissan very close from ford..if you like a Sunday drive and looking good just bye a ford ...whaterver..

@ tj:
ford only goes up to 750 but they don't count 650 and 750 on these numbers

Sadly GM lost so much marketshare. I like the Sierra and Silverado. But hey, no hating. The Ram and F-series are also great trucks. I'd love to own any of these. I wonder what the numbers will be when the F-series is available with the new engines. It'll probably give Ford an extra boost in sales.

Miath your a moron.

If Ranger has sold 2052, Colorado 2094 and Frontier 2164, then Frontier is 7th, Colorado stays at 8th and Ranger goes no 9th, correct?

@ Ipl: You're right about this month. But they are ranked by year to date sales where the ranger outsold the Colorado and Frontier.

@ Tommy's point #1...

Wrong. YTD GM's combined sales are 308,821.

Last I checked 308,821 > 295,426.

Yes. My #1 point was posted before Mike corrected the numbers. (See the several corrections to the article.)

Ford still has more then GM and Chevy if you add in the Ranger. By year's end I predict the F-series will pull ahead by itself....

And to the guy who posted above, the numbers do not include the 650 and up. Only the super duty like everyone else.

Jane,

I think the ranger being around so long makes the Ranger BETTER, and more reliable. There really solid small trucks, and with the tow package gearing and the 4.0, they are plenty powerful.

One thing people seem to forget is the only reason Ford did not take or need bailout money is because they took out a HUGE loan a couple years ago. The goverment might not own ford but the banks do. They are in the same shape as all the rest.

yo tj only way ford didnt take the bailout money was the fact they sold off a couple of other companies before the crisis hit and had the cash because of that. without that they be in the same situation. get ur facts str8.

Ford also mortgaged all their plants a couple years ago so they would have cash on hand. Toyota is getting money from the Japanese government. So nobody is in good shape. I personally see an automaker owned by the American people than the Japanese government.

At least FORD went about it the right way and not the wrong way like the other lame two.

How can they count the F-150 sales with the 250 & 350 (and up)? THEY ARE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT TRUCKS!

@Frank, it's "Miath you're a Moron" NOT "Miath your a moron"

@Tommy, if you include the Ranger then you got to roll in the Canyon and Colorado. GM still wins the numbers game. But who cares about numbers? Is WindowsTM the best operating system because it sells the most? Does McDonald's make the best hamburger?

frank you the one like that Sunday driving,,

frank i am sorry i hurt your little ford heart,,snif, snif,,lol

Miath, you're still a moron. What is this:

"frank you the one like that Sunday driving,,"

Sorry I don't read Dyslexia!!!

Did you know the FORD F250 weighs 1000 lbs more than GM/ChryCo's 2500 Series Trucks. They still couldn't beat the FORD by a large margin in the shoot out.

We all know a heavier truck can pull a load more comfortably.

don't cry again because your ford is a slow puller and big lazy every excuse is good just said your ford is a big truck whit a small heart...maybe 2011 diesel is coming whit a real engine whit a little part of gm dmax

You aint got $hit to back up your comment. You're a TOOL.

How long will Ram be around with those poor sales numbers? Even with the CFC push, they had embarrassing sales numbers and even with all the hype of the new 1500.

Sorry Ram but your days are numbered.

I would love to see this list with the F150, F250 and F350 all broken out of the F-series numbers. Where I live, Chevys' out number F150s about 3 to 1. I am tired of hearing that the F series is the best selling truck. Lets do a real comparison and separate all of the F series trucks from the list. F150 sales verses Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra 1500 verses Dodge Ram 1500 numbers, not just F-series verses everyone elses' half ton trucks.

George, Get a clue. We are talking about the top 10 list her. The Canyon did not make the top 10 so they can't be added but even if the Canyon did have a lot of sales which I doubt, once again, GM needs two models to beat Ford's one. But I did add in the Colorodo with the Ranger, and Ford still beats it.

Do you know best? Do you make the best argument? Who said the F series is the best just because of sales? If they are selling the most that must mean they are pretty good! If you don't like sales, take a look at the pickuptrucks.com shootout - best overall pickup, the IIHS - top safety pick, motor trend - truck of the year, truck of texas - 7 years in a row, popular mechanics - top truck, KBB - top truck, you name it.

rjo,
Why are you tired of hearing all of F-series but you are not tired of hearing all of Chevy's series or all of GM? They don't break up the sales either. Plus they need to models, GM and Chevy, to have a chance at beating Ford. Wake up.

Chevrolet pickups are some of the best made pickups plain and simple. My 95 Silverado has 280,000 miles and still runs like new. Rides great too.
