@ Jay - since GMC has a propensity for negative advertising (bashing the competition ie.Howie Long, Max and Al), why haven't we seen advertising or concrete reports from GM pointing out what you described?

Post the hard evidence to back your claims.

This is always the worst time of the month to be a loyal reader on this website. I pity the fools that simply cannot accept facts in the form of hard sales numbers. Its either "Mike has twisted the numbers in Ford's favor" "What about fleet, Chevy has never sold a fleet vehicle" "Fords just don't last as long, I'm the only person in the world smart enough to figure this out, so they sell more" "well, somebody offered 10 bucks more in cash back last month..."

Come on guys. Lets just be real and prevent the same stupid arguement some try to initiate here on a monthly basis. Again, Ford has outsold the competition. Yep, they have outsold them in Super Duty, Light Duty, Feet, Red, Blue, Black, Silver, Crew Cab, Super Cab, Gas, Diesel, everything. Can we stop making up excuses and just accept reality for what it is?

@Lou, To answer your question, Toyota quality has been sliding for a while. It's just that Toyota has stopped hiding it after a pile of complaints were filed with NHTSA and they can almost feel the gun at their head. They're still having trouble developing a durable frame for their Tundras. Whether or not they can remains to be seen.

Most of all, they still don't have a truck that is competitive in the contractor market. Contractors use HD/Super Duty-type pickups, which Toyota does not yet offer.

"I do believe that harmful "protectionist" sentiments are growing at a dangerous pace in the USA."

Wrong. The know the Ford diesels and Ram HD are made in Mexico but it is a much better product. Dirt cheap imports that fall apart are ruining our´╗┐ country. I know you like free trade but It's not free trade either when they manipulate their currency. They are laughing at us. Do the research and you can start with the Donald.

@jfunke28, Well said. That is all I really want. I'm done here.

Ford secretly took the bail out money from the govenment with out filing bankrupcy.
http://jalopnik.com/5704575/ford-bmw-toyota-took-secret-government-money

@Patrick -
Government Motors is an appropriate moniker.

I get the destinct impression that you did not thoroughly read the link you provided.

A loan is different than a bailout.
Why don't you "google" a few definitions and read them over a few times until they sink in.

The USA and Canadian governments bought stock in "new" GM to keep it afloat.
The USA government owns controlling interest in GMC.
The USA government owns it, therefore it really and truly is "Government Motors".

The credit arms of Ford, GMAC, BMW, Chrysler, Nissan, Volkswagen, Honda,Hyundai and even Toyota benefited directly from loans from the Federal Reserve.

Does GMC still own GMAC?

No.
They lost it in the bankruptsy along with 200 billion dollars.

Loans are paid back.

To quote your linked story:
"According to the Fed, the commercial paper loans have been paid in full"

THE LOANS WERE PAID BACK!

You guys need to pay attention to what you post.

Stop making it so easy for me to poke holes in all of your arguments.

Lou,
This is just your personal opinion NO FACTS TO SUPPORT YOUR ARGUMENT!
My link clearly backs me up.
Ford is in the same boat, but with a bigger loan they have to pay back!

@ Fred - quote Trump: "China thinks we are dumb SOBs"
That is because many Americans are!

The Chinese middle class is larger than the entire population of the USA.

What really and truly is ruining the USA:

The same pervasive attitude that Americans and their products are superior and infallible is what lead the US auto industry to collapse.

The same pervasive attitude that Americans and their products are superior and infallible have prevented manufactures from being competitive.

The same pervasive attitude that Americans and their products are superior and infallible lead to near financial collapse.

Ford's mantra is "global platforms". They have been very successful due to making a globally competitive product.

@ Fred - How many people actually know that Ram HD's are made in Mexico?
Are truck guys going to stop buying Dodge Rams once Italian Fiat gains controlling interest? (they will be just as foreign as Toyota).
How many guys know that Ford's new diesel is made in Mexico?

None of your arguments make any sense.

Quote:"They are laughing at us"

Anyone with a brain in their heads are laughing at your posts, either that or shaking their heads in utter disbelief.

@Lou,

That is exactly what I read from the article. This is way different from what GM/Chryco did.

I pity the person who is dumbfounded and can't read basic 6th grade literature.

What is the US coming too?

@ Frank - that is why I am engaged in this debate.
I can not tolerate poorly thought out comments.
Brand bashing aside - these guys are taking it to a whole new level.

Here is a perfect example of Fred and Patrick not understanding the link:
Exerpt " Much of Wall Street, and corporate giants such as General Electric, Harley Davidson and McDonald's, took advantage of the Fed's help."

MACDONALD'S took advantage of the Fed's help.

Would that be a Royale with cheeze?

A McGovernment burger?

a Mc Bailout Burger?

Brilliant post Fred...........

My side hurts from laughing so hard.

@Lou, Try posting under YOUR OWN NAME please. I know you are posting under my name.

@ Fred -
that is a common problem on this site.

Why would I use your name?

If I posted under your name the quality of your arguments would improve exponentially.

"If I posted under your name the quality of your arguments would improve exponentially." - Lou

LMFAO!

I'm also Fred, that's why I put G next to it.
lou,
Federal motor company is as guilty as everyone else, except that they tried to hide that (thats why i never trusted them)
You are just one ford fan boi who thinks that ford was doing so well that they didn't need any help from the feds, well they did! so accept that and live with it!
Besides your post make no sense
A McGovernment burger?
a Mc Bailout Burger?
WTF? if they took the money doesn't mean that they need to change a Big mac to McGovernment burger.

@ Fred G - it is called a "pun" ,a play on words.
Ford did not try to hide it - the Federal reserve tried to hide it.
Exerpt from your link
"The Fed on Wednesday was forced to reveal the identity of the companies it aided during the crisis, after contending to Congress that keeping their identities and the details of such lending secret was essential"

Who borrowed money from the "Fed" -

The credit arms of Ford, GMAC, BMW, Chrysler, Nissan, Volkswagen, Honda,Hyundai and even Toyota benefited directly from loans from the Federal Reserve.

Exerpt from your link "Much of Wall Street, and corporate giants such as General Electric, Harley Davidson and McDonald's, took advantage of the Fed's help."

Are you going to stop buying light bulbs or eating at Rotten Ronnies?

That is why I made the joke "MC Bailout burger".

SHEEESH.

@ Fred G - stop making the other Fred look bad... er.... worse.

@Lou,

Keep up the good work. These twerps still don't know the difference between a bail-out and a LOAN.

Thats the whole point, Ford took that money and that's how they stayed afloat. Reason why i'm saying that people like yourself always seem to mention about GM's bailout. Now that don't scare me, I just bought a new CTS which no ford/lincoln car could come near...

@ Frank - isn't a "bail-out" what one's dad used to do when we were young drunken teenagers? LOL.
A loan occured after the "bailout" because dad wanted his money back.

LMFAO

@ Fred G - it helped Ford - yes.
You haven't mentioned all of the other businesses that accessed the same funds.

I do not have a problem with federal loans.
Loans get paid back.

Bailouts are another story.

There are those that argue that the bailout of GM and Chrylser were neccessary.

I do not think so.

Chrysler with or without a bailout is going to end up foreign owned (Fiat).

GMC without a bailout would no longer be GMC,but ... SO WHAT?

Your CTS would of ended up being made by the Chinese or the A-rabs.

GM's divisions would of survived but under someone else.

A Subaru Silverado anyone?

@Fred G,

I am happy for you. I bought 2 Ford trucks cash which no GM could come near.....

See how easy it is to spin it. Enjoy your car!!

I'm enjoying a solid powetrain wrapped in the best truck out there.

GM is paying all of that money back.

If ford wouldn't took that money, it would of have to file chapter 11, So who owes more to the FEDS? Take a look at how much federal motor company's total debt is.

Frank,
I wasn't talking to you, All I see is that you are Lou's B**** ford does not produce the best trucks, they are just overrated! What else do you do for Lou? actually don't answer, I don't wanna know!

I think this topic has gone about as far as it can go.

x007,
what kind of BS is this? you said let's talk trucks and yet give all this links? This is rediculous, I can provide links for you to any ford vehicle on service bulletin board. they are have some sort of problems. Yes I own trucks and one of them is ford unfortunately, well guess what? it had more problems them 2-3 GM trucks combined!!!!!
