The Full Story: 2013 Ram 1500
We've offered the most thorough and exhaustive deep-dive look of the new 2013 Ram 1500 on the internet, in magazines, or on TV. We've published the full story on powertrains, interior and exterior design, new technology and more. And this will likely be the story where we have everything in one place for you to get all the information you need about this truck...at least until we get to drive one, then test another against the competition.
We'll be offering more information as we connect with our Ram Truck engineers over the next several months as they let us behind the wheel of the new truck at one of the upcoming media press drives. We're especially curious about the electronic power steering, start-stop system, and how well the new Pentastar V-6 will work with the new air suspension and chassis. For now, we'll have to wait before we can drive the new pickup. But you can read all about the coming next-generation Ram by clicking on any of the stories below. In the meantime, if you'd like to see the most recent spec chart on the 2013 Ram 1500 download the specs here.

Forget all of the other stuff. You what what I love about that bottom shot? Round wheel wells. That's what sets this truck off to me. That's what sets the Super Duty and F-150 off as well. When Dodge had squared wheel openings they didn't look as good. Neither did the Ford's. My favorite Chevy truck I ever owned was my 71 and it had round wheel wells. The new Silverado needs to ditch the squared wheel wells this time and go round for awhile. I think trucks just look better that way. I know it's a little off topic comment but it just caught my eye and I realized why I like this design and my F-150 so much more than the Chevy right now. Looking back at pictures of my 71 I realize that's what set it off too. Very clean and mean!
I enjoy this Laramie/Longhorn interior as well. Dodge is catching up to Ford with their interiors.
This new 2013 Ram must really be impressive if 7 of the most recent news stories here on pickuptrucks.com are about the 2013 Ram.
Out of genuine curiosity, did they pay you to do this feature? Everything about this series of articles feels like it was produced by Dodge and maybe slightly tweaked to fit the pickuptrucks.com "voice".
Mark,
Please consider a separate content box on the main page for the most recent 'Deep Dive' tech coverage, it would be summarized neatly in one place, making your advantage of in-depth coverage highly visible, and keep the news flow interrupted. Win / win.
The 'Deep Dives' flooding the news flow is awkward and does not look good on part of the site even if it is unbiased. The problem is the format. The section is titled 'Latest News'. Everything after the announcement of the new features on the Ram was NOT 'Latest News'.
Do yourselves the favor and and consider taking the Deep Dives out of the news and putting them in a separate box where they belong, and where they will do you more good anyways.
Sincerely,
Jookes
aaawww come on let the hatin' begin.....
i bet if this was FORD article or CHEVY we would have the same amount of fanboys and haters..
i think that ram is finally doing a good job this truck looks beautiful
its powerful
and everything in between.
if you dont like it dont buy it buy watever you want.
Mark Williams has done a great job by bringing us every bit of information...i am sure you wont find and much detailed and accurate information anywere else.

8 separate news articles for one refresh is too much if not tedious. They should have combined it into one or two main articles with pages to click. The articles also read a little too much like it was written by Fiat with no mention if this stuff was out on other models and just new to Fiat or truly new. I would have liked a little more comparison.
to bad allpar had all of this info up on the day of the showing

I agree with the articles being cumbersome and a bit drawn out but I suspect it was only to get the info out quicker.
i agree with jason. As information is spread out, it tends to lose my interest. Condense the five articles in one and it would be much better reading. I thoroughly enjoyed the newest features for the ram but it can be hard to read spread out like that.
So before PUTC was a Ford site, but now that there is an exhaustive report on the new Ram, it's a Dodge site? Maybe the new Ram got so much attention because it's release is the biggest, most influential piece of pickup news right now.
Dodge should have put that 8 speed automatic and air bag suspension in their trucks when they came out with their new design in 2009!! That retarded 5 speed with those goofy different second gears really held that engine back. They are morons!! No more bailouts!! Let that failure of a business model fail..as well as GM. All we did was reward failure!! We bailed out the greedy exectutives and UAW!!
@Luke in CO - true. Someone cries bias, bribed or bought when there is significant news from a single company.
I think that the 2013 Ram is the new benchmark and compass pointing the direction all of the automakers will head towards.
Ram will take tons of wind out of Chevy sails (sales too) with this mid-cycle upgrade. That is the part that impresses me - the 2013 is not supposed to be a "new" model.

Chevy is so done for it's not even funny. GM continues to split up everything with 2 stupid truck lines. Good grief... Why not just take the Silverado and kick everyones butt with it? This 2 truck stuff is so pathetic. And you're right Lou, this is only a Refresh of the current truck. What happens when Ford and Dodge both come out with their new truck? Can GM even keep up? Especially with 2 freaking truck lines they'll have to update? That company is LOST.
Ram/Dodge is not an also-ran any more. They are all in now and it’s good to have them there. I and my company have been mostly Ford buyers for years but I gotta say that may change in the near future. This is a good looking, well equipped, well thought out pickup that Chevy and Ford should be dreading right about now. The future looks very bright in trucks and Ram is going to be a big part of it.

Things like fancy air bag supensions and heated wheels are Ram's philosophy. Chevy's philosophy is a bit different! We at Chevy went out and talked to people who own and drive our trucks. What we found is that this stuff, if it is not used daily, it is just NOT worth putting on! Chevy gives the customer what they need to GET THE JOB DONE.
A truck must have payload and it has to tow. The Pentastar is for the cusomer who isn't going to haul and isn't going to tow anything but the lighted loads. You are not going to tow more than 5k pounds and it is going to how the lowest payload.
What about Ram's "class leading towing" and class leading payload? That is only in one model - and it is the regular cab tradesman which isn't a real half ton to start with. Who wants a regular cab? I didn't think so. The new Dodge Ram V6 with 8 speed cannot match Chevy. Chevy has a 6 speed with 2 overdrive gears so even against an 8 speed it can get better fuel economy because Ram's 8 speed acts like a 6. It's the economy, stupid!
What we found is that this stuff, if it is not used daily, it is just NOT worth putting on! Chevy gives the customer what they need to GET THE JOB DONE.
@BJ, 'bob/sierra'- Not worth putting on? LOL... What if people want to PAY for it?? Is GM Really that braindead? They don't want to take peoples money who will gladly give it to them? I bet their shareholder's are just thrilled with their 'philosophy'.
Why don't they just tell the truth. "We're Broke and can't compete."
@BJ You need to do your homework. The Ram has 2 overdrive gears also, but a lower first gear (4.71 - 4.03) than the Chevy. This 8 speed is geared about as good as you can get. It will outperform the Chevy 6 speed in every catagory. Even top gear (.67) is the same.
Guys - just remember waht else "BJ" stands for.
I am from Canada(Québec) and I find you funny! My father is better than yours! Dodge announces new thing in the world of pick up then it will make GM and Ford changed what will be beneficial and for us.
Sorry for my english I use a translator.
Blah Blah Blah....The question is did Dodge fix the real problems? The drive shafts falling down, the tie rods breaking, the Ecm electrical connections, the rusting bumpers, front wheel bearings and on and on and on....... needless to say I'm real impressed with the Dodge I got rid of!
I am a Ford guy but have to say i like the Ram except for the shifting knob. Looks like Ram Fluff!!!
After 9 years with my RAM, I'm still waiting for any of the stuff Kirk mentioned to occure.
Rear fender cargo boxes preclude the use of a bedcover/tonneau/cap... what a stupid idea from RAM.
I can only wish the things that kirk said would happen to my dodge. That way I could buy me a 2013.My truck is an 03 HEMI with 72,000 miles.Never had any problems.Too bad.Cant wait to get a new one.
