More Support: Ram Has 20 Trucks and $100K
Just a few days ago, we reported that GM made a big donation to the Red Cross in support of the relief programs set up to help get communities hit by Hurricane Sandy back on their feet. Now, Chrysler has announced they will also donate a herd of half-ton pickup trucks and sizable chunk of cash to help in the relief effort. Let's hope the trucks get to all the needed communities before the next storm makes a bigger mess.
Here's How You Can Help: People can make a financial donation in support of Red Cross Disaster Relief by visiting www.redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Contributions may also be sent to your local Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.

Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler Group LLC's Ram Truck brand today donated 20 Ram 1500 Tradesman trucks and $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with relief efforts in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.
“The impact of Superstorm Sandy was widespread and the road to recovery will be long for many families,” said Neal Litvack, Chief Development Officer at the American Red Cross. "Through the generosity of its partners such as Ram and Chrysler Group, the American Red Cross is responding with shelter, food and emotional support, helping families and communities with their most critical needs now, and as they begin to move toward recovery.”
The Ram Truck brand's donation will support the massive effort by the American Red Cross to help families and entire communities get back on their feet. On the ground, the Ram Tradesman trucks will help mobilize people and supplies for the Sandy relief efforts and will continue to benefit the organization as permanent members of the American Red Cross’ fleet of vehicles. Large relief operations are underway in New York and New Jersey, where residents felt Sandy’s biggest impact. Shelters and feeding sites are open and emergency vehicles are distributing food, water and relief supplies in these states.
“Our hearts go out to those impacted by Superstorm Sandy," said Fred Diaz, Ram Truck President and CEO Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico – Chrysler Group LLC. "We are inspired by their unwavering spirit in this time of adversity, and Ram is proud to support relief and recovery efforts by providing the Red Cross with a team of Ram trucks to support this critical mission.”

kudos to Ram/Chrysler
This is more BS!
We bailed out Chrysler to give it to the Italians for nothing. Now they are shipping Jeep jobs to China. And all we get are a lousy 20 trucks!
BS!
ealDonaldTrump, Jay you are full of sh&t!
http://www.leftlanenews.com/fiat-plans-to-bring-all-local-jeep-production-back-to-china.html
@Cory - off topic and trolling don't you think?
Do some research on the Chinese auto market. They usually do not let companies into China unless they partner with a Chinese company. It serves the purpose of forcing outsiders to share technology and profits with Chinese companies. Jeep probably would not be allowed to import vehicles into China.
The story does not say they will move production for USA Jeeps to China. Jeeps for China will be made in China.
No different than GMC, or Ford. If you want to sell in China you must make a Faustian bargain.
You should get together with Hemi V8. You sound alike.
I bet both of you would enjoy reading Consumer Reports Automotive edition.
If you two had actually read, they are not saying they would build the Jeeps in China to ship here, they would build them in China for China.
It's funny, both of you like brands that do plenty already in Asia.
But, I guess you got to look for just the negativety in anything that's not your brand.
Jay, Chrysler employs a hell of alot of people in the states, isn't that the arguement we usually get with the the Tacoma and Tundra? Of course we will get some complaining cause Ram builds some in Mexico. Big deal! Like Ford, Chevy, Toyota,....don't build anything there??
That's 20 trucks that can help, and 100K, and pretty sure it's more then your favorite company is doing to help.
Lol now ford will give 500 trucks and a million in cash just to be like yay I rich daddy but glad to see them help
@Lou
How many people on this sight have heard of or are aware what Faust is. Most probably think its a German word for fart:)
It's great to see another company "chip in" and help.
@The Whinners
Jeeps made in China, they were building Jeeps a few years ago for local consumption.
If you guys change your emission and design regulations you would have an enormous global market. Stop blaming everyone but yourselves.
You want to project how unique you and your markets are and you are really not much different from the rest of the world.
Simple, if you guys want to export build what the globe wants.
But also remember your auto manufacturers stripped money out of other countries to the point where foreign governments had to provide funding to prop your inefficient manufacturers.
Stop whinning.
Toyota gave $1,000,000, that would be more than the big three combined!
They do not need trucks, they need water, food, fuel and electricity!
Trucks will not give them stuff like this!
Again, taking advantage of the situation for marketing gains!
FEMA just ran out of water, epic failure once again!

Folks are dumpster diving for food and waiting in 3 mile long lines for fuel with many without power!
If they would have been prepared, they wuld not be in lines for anything!
What do they need hundreds of trucks for if they can't get gas? This is so stupid. Why does the Red Cross need new trucks? What is wrong with their old ones? Give the trucks to real people if you want to give, not the Red Cross which does not need them.
My donations will go somewhere else but for different reasons!
Red Cross has a a bad history of how they help. I didn't like how they were taking in donations for 9/11 and saving it for future purposes. Unethical if you ask me.
After Hurricane Katrina, it was the church groups that went in and offered the most help. And they did it on a fraction of the money as the Red Cross.
The church groups were the first to feed people and offer REAL help.
Red Cross is absolutely useless. They will have pretty trucks, nothing else.
@Joe and oxi,
Right on. FEMA just throws money at the problem, they don't do anything but run out of gas and water. If you wait for the govn't or the Red Cross, you will starve.
If you want to give, give to the Salvation Army all the way. They are the best, and they get on the site immediately. Admin costs right at 5%. Top-shelf outfit in the helping/disaster business.. Plus they don't require a disaster in order to be helping -- they do it all the time, 24/7.
Staten Island Borough President: Don’t Give Money to the Red Cross
http://politicker.com/2012/11/staten-island-borough-president-dont-give-money-to-the-red-cross/
People are dying out here and Ram and GM donates pretty trucks with chrome packages!????
People need water, food, socks, and shoes. Gas and electricity! Not windmills and solar panels, Mr. President! Gas prices are up to $6 a gallon and $15 a gallon on craigslist! I thought supply didn't affect prices, Mr. President? What are you doing to help the gas problem in this country? Nothing. You said you wanted the prices to skyrocket and go up to the price of Europe, Congratulations!
How many of these pretty trucks will go the people? Indiividuals? My bet is none! The Red Cross will hord them all and the people who need them who lost their trucks will get nothing!
Give to the Salvation Army or the churches.
@Cory,
Jeep made Jeeps in China for the Chinese market before..
Mercedes turned the old Jeep factory in China into making Mercedes.
Jeeps built in China are for the Chinese market ! Not the American market !
Toyota,GM,FORD,Honda,VW all make cars in China for the Chinese market,so Jeep/Chrysler is the last one to make cars in China for the huge Chinese market !
Jeep plants in the U.S need all the room for the strong demand of Jeeps sold in the U.S,and they need new space in the plants to produce the new Liberty replacement(once the best selling small suv),with strong Wrangler and Grand Cherokee sales in America they need all the room for American Jeeps, not Chinese spec Jeeps.
Again another ignorant Chrysler basher,do your research before you bash Chrysler with your ignorant comments ,just unreal how uneducated people are...truly bizarre !
@oxi,
You need trucks to get the Food,Clothing to the people !!
You need trucks to bring in the workers to help clean-up !
You need trucks to bring in the fuel, yes you can load jerry cans of fuel in the bed and give them out if need be !
Stop with the Toyota is almighty bit,its really getting old !
As the money they gave helps out Toyota ,its a tax right off !!
So just stop it allready with the Toyota is superior ,it didnt cost Toyota anything,it actually saved Toyota tax money it would of had to pay at tax time !
And furthermore OXI...even if you are prepared,if your house is destroyed, ruining all of your prepared items, you would be left with nothing, meaning you are now one of the unprepared even though you had a stock pile of food, clothing, generators fuel if it gets destroyed in a flood, tornado, earth quake how is stock piling all these items any good if it gets destroyed in a disaster ? Unless you have several properties and a way to get there (helicopter)
There is an uproar because the whole point of the bailout, the whole reason to spend billions and billions to was to save jobs. GM post bailout they has less jobs. Seventy per-cent of GM production is now in China. And the CEO ( not Obama) said that they were going to shift more production to China.
If Fiat/Chrysler is going to build Jeeps in China simply to SELL in China, then it makes perfect buisiness sense.
However, I Heard that the CEO of Fiat/Chrysler says Fiat is thinking of moving Chrysler and Jeep production to Italy and China exporting both into the US. So there are multiple scenarios on the table, that’s a big problem to say the least.
screw brand loyalty and bailout and import export blah blah if you want to help out here in NY/NJ we thank you and welcome youre support I do love that the picture in the top of the article is my exact truck color wheels everythign lol
@moparman. I with you, does not matter about all this whining on this site. It's about helping all the affected people on the east coast by what ever means you can. BTW nice looking truck, I am still not sold on the most recent front end changes. The swept forward grill still has not grown on me. Nice rig none the less.
They're not helping anyone. 6 days out and they still don't have any gas, water or electricity! There is no power and the temps are dropping. There are huge gas lines miles long!
Don't kid yourself. The trucks are not even going to be used to get gas or electricity to help anyone!
Yesterday, an astonishing 25,562 LIPA customers were still without power in thri neighborhood — 75 percent of the total!
What is a Ram Tradesman going to do for that? Sit on a lot somewhere? Just like generators are sitting on a lot in Jersey that were supposed to be used for the marathon?
Ram and GM got their propoganda in so they don't have to do anything to provide real help. These SOBs are providing pretty trucks to the Red Cross who in turn are offering chocolate cookies to the victims!
Ram and GM, Where the hec are the emergency supplies that should be priority number one! Blankets cots tents even trailers will do for those displaced but I guess FEMA is broke and can not afford it and they want more taxes from us! And GM just wants more advertising for their Tradesman, notice how he got that plug in!
Screw them all....
Excuse me, RAM just wanted more advertising for their Tradesman edition, notice how Diaz go that plug in! Disgusting...
"What are you doing to help the gas problem in this country? Nothing. You said you wanted the prices to skyrocket and go up to the price of Europe, Congratulations!"
Congrats Obama. You finally accomplished one thing you set out to do. I hope you are proud of yourself! I can't wait to get vote this guy out of office on Tuesday.
@Dan,
Nope,Sergio never said that,he made it clear Chinese Jeeps just for China..American Jeeps will be built in America ! You are hearing all of the anti-Chrysler people's rumors just to get everybody in an uproar.
Did you know there is real talk about Fiat having its head quarters in the USA.So these Fiat bashers cant say Fiat is Itallian,it would be 100% American, that would really get your panties in a bunch ! An American Ferrari !
Furthermore,FORD got more tax payer money from the Government than CHRYSLER !!! So,stop with the anti-Chrysler garbage people !! FORD doesn not nor did not pay it back !
Heck the American government even gave Toyota,VW American taxpayer dollars as it still gives Nissan taxpayer dollars !!
Japan always gives millions of Japanese taxpayer dollars to its auto manufacturers Toyota/Honda ect all get Japanese taxpayer dollars, thats how the hybrid came out the Jap government wanted to be the first country with the most amount of hybrids !!

By the way Chrysler paid back the loan money.

Kudos to Ram for donating the trucks and the 100k. The Red Cross, the victims of Sandy, and tho rest of us greatly appreciate your donations. Kudos to Toyota as well for donating 1 million. Kudos to all that have donated time, money, and resources to aide Sandy victims.
@alan--I did not realize that Salvation Army's overhead costs were only 5%. That is good to know and it will influence my charitable contributions. It is important to be there first to help these victims.
I figured it would not take long for Sir Spam A Lot to show up. Take your Sh*t elsewhere.
During the conference call, Sergio said he did want to build Jeeps in Italy and in fact he wanted to export them to the US.
In addtion, Sergio is trying to negotiate with the Italians to get tax rebates on the exports to help export them to America.
The Ram and Jeep guys can still say, yeah but we are still going to build Jeeps here. But this is going to be a new Jeep sold in Europe but also exported here to the US. So just because it is a new Jeep, people are going to be apologists and say it doesn't matter. The truth is it could have been built here and exported instead of in Italy and exported. This is the absolute truth. It is very clear from the Bloomberg piece and the conference call.
Another important piece from the conference call is the savings of $1. The new benchmark for Chrysler to produce Jeeps elswhere will be if the savings are at least $1. It is clear they are considering this. Now it will be just a few Jeeps in China and Italy, but who knows what is next? Sergio wants to protect jobs in his country, his homeland, but we also need jobs here.

“In spite of Hurricane Sandy, Chrysler Group posted its best October sales since 2007 and we achieved our 31st-consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth,” said Reid Bigland, president and CEO – Dodge brand and head of U.S. sales, in a statement.
Sales losses this month will more than be made up next month in the storm area. Many people who before the storm had no intention of buying a new BIG HORN EDITION will be forced to replace the truck they lost.

They will be sending Jeeps to North America from China dont fool yourself USA trade defict with China is 270 Billion a year like come on.Fiat loves cheap slave labour and they found that in China . On the other hand glad to see companys comeing forward with help 18 billion plus worth of damage is shocking Sandy victims are in my prayers god bless
The bottom line is Fiat/Jeep/Chrysler/Ram is an Italian company now and they are gradually moving business outside of the United States to Italy and China. Sucks for those who want to buy Ameircan but these are facts. It is good bet that Chrylser would still be American if they went through normal bankruptcy. But a lot of these Jeep guys and UAW guys were gung ho about the bailout being necessary. You get what you deserve.
My prayes out to those still suffering from the storm.

Bill Reischling Dan I feel bad for you. Personally I'd dump it and I think you're just wasting your money throwing parts at it. If it was as simple as that Ford would have already had it fixed. I was a lifelong Ford guy but like you I'll never buy another one. Dumped my eco and got a Dodge last June and have been happy ever since.
October 12 at 3:01pm
Hey Ford. You like to put up big numbers and outdo everybody, so where are your trucks and money.
I'm sorry. I forgot that Ford waits to be last so they can give 1 more truck and 1 more dollar than the other guys. lol
Ford and Ford employees already made their donation, and in addition Ford just announced a program for people affected by Hurricane Sandy (I'm sure pickuptrucks.com will be reporting it shortly.) These people affected by Sandy will get some much needed financial relief directly!
I'd rather get some money back from Ford than have a few trucks go to the Red Cross that they don't need.
Like Toyota, Ford is a part of the Disaster Responder Program gives all year round BEFORE disasters.
Ford won the relief effort battle. $500 per family is a lot. We will see if others follow suit.
Thank you, Ford!
I feel for all of those affected by the storm, but I'm I the only one that finds it weird that some of those affected are sitting behind a computer bitching about lack of help/resorces.
I got an idea, go help with what you can instead of bitching about the government. When a local town was blasted by a tornado, I didn't have time to bitch about the lack of help, because I was too busy help others.
I agree with oxi. Put together a bug-out kit.
This is the storm of the century and people in the north east and mid atlantic states are learning the hard way that being dependent on big government to keep you safe, warm and fed is not a great idea. Nobody cares about you more than you and your friends and family.
When this crisis is over, start preparing for the next one -- store freeze-dried food and toiletries in water-tight containers, store clean drinking and cooking water, bottled water, some cans of emergency fuel, blankets, weapons, and establish support networks with friends and neighbors.
Get radios and plenty of fresh bateries. Flashl lights. LED Lanterns. Full up your gas tanks BEFORE the storm.
Put together a bug-out kit in case you have to evacuate, and establish a destination with friends or relatives that are far enough away to be safe but close enough to be accessible.
Make your OWN plans, don't expect the politicians OR electrical companies to make plans for you. Because they have their own plans for themselves!
Toyota gave $1,000,000, that would be more than the big three combined!

$1m from Toyota is impressive but Ford is giving out $500 per family!
Plus this money will go directly into their pocket, and not a third party organization.
Ford estimates they lost about 3000 sales due to the Hurricane.
3000 familes x's $500 per family = $1.5 million. Half a million more than Toyota gave.
But the program is good until January. Add up the sales for the next 3 months and we are potentially talking about $100 million to those affected by Sandy.
When they get their insurance check they spend $500 less on the new one and all the money goes directly into's the family's wallets so they can buy groceries, clothes and whatever else they need!
To others about Sandy:
First Toyota donated $1 million, that would be more than GM's petty donation since they still owe the taxpayers because their stock price has not hit that level to break even!
Another valid point is most of the destruction was in low lying areas and quite a few folks live near or barely above sea level!
With that said they have to assume the responsibility of risk for living so close to sea level like New Orleans!
They knew the storm was coming, they should have fled for some of them!
It's like moving right next to a hazordous chemical factory and expecting never to have an accident, explosion or chemical release at some point, c'mon, these guys chose to live so close to sea level, they made the stupid decision to live there!
Now we get folks in 3 mile long lines to get some fuel, some moron screaming at City Hall as to why no food handouts and ofcourse when you have ancient electrical infrastrcture still no power...
I is NOT your local community's responsibility to give you a meal, where does it state that in their rules, etc...?
The city has a Health Dept. tat goes around and regulates grocery stores are up to code and restaurant's, they do not tell you when to eat, etc...
City's give you services like clean running water, sanitation with waste, clean roads and other services but fuel and food, no way!
These folks cannot expect the government to wipe their rears when a disastor hits, they should have had plans and supplies in place but most are too busy with their social lives, sports and other useless reality shows to worry about big shyt like this hitting them!
They deserve their fate period!
And for the MORONS that will respond with some folks got everything wiped out, etc...
Again plans in place and supplies!
No excuse to have an alternate location miles away by foot and vehicle like a simple storage rental shed packed wth some supplies that you could get too before the storm hit, etc...
I mean get off your lazy rears and plan for shyt like this! Those living in urban dense areas, still have plans when everything goes down, we are above the animal kingdom for a reason yet we act like animals when basic services are not there anymore like many reports of fighting and cutting into long fuels lines, gins being drawn, etc...
Agaian this is what I was warning about earlier that it will be only a matter of time before widespread chaos takes over if their were Sandy's (man-made type) all across the nation like from an economic collapse, power grid failure, etc... just imagine how soon it would be before guns would be fired at folks for some fuel, truck drivers shot to take whatever they have in their trailers, etc...
When society breaks down, the first to panic are the first to die!
I ask questions while you guys sit there and never see the obvious!

I do agree that people should always have a supply of water and a "ready kit" in the event of a disaster. Something like Hurricane Sandy isn't something that just popped out of the blue like an earthquake, tsunami etc. There was advanced warning. People should of "bugged out", especially those in low lying areas.
With that being said, people are in trouble NOW, whether or not it was their fault, they need help.
The fanboism, the ridiculing of those affected, the rants about bailouts, and building products in China is childish and stupid.
We forget that there are people suffering and have lost everything - What a bunch of pathetic human beings. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.
