Recall Alert: 2013 Ram 2500, 3500 Pickups

Ram 2013 HD II

By Matt Schmitz

Chrysler is recalling 1,253 2013 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks due to a problem in the exterior lighting system that could reduce the driver’s visibility and blind oncoming traffic, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Affected vehicles were manufactured between Jan. 7 and Feb. 28, 2013, and are equipped with optional premium headlamps. The headlamp shutters may function improperly when in high-beam mode and fail to conform to federal safety standards; the problem could reduce the driver’s visibility and possibly blind drivers of oncoming vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will begin notifying owners next month, and dealers will reconfigure the central body controller for free.

Owners can call Chrysler at 800-247-9753 or the NHTSA vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or go to www.safercar.gov for more info.

Sorry, my blog took its time to post, I thought it got lost in cyberspace.

@Lou
Well, Ram would be behind the finish line already.
I don't need to get to the end of the street at higher speed, but sooner.
It's very hard to tell , what would happen. Maybe Ford wouldn't win at all , if the transmission need to make a shift. RAM has much faster shifting times than old Ford transmission. It makes huge difference in equally powerful engines running at peak Rpm.
Let's make the drug racing test to the maximum speed allowed by limiter.
Then you'll get the whole picture what engine and transmission is doing.
My bet would be at RAM with ZF 8 speed.

@zviera - there are multiple variables that could affect results. I agree with Big Al that most of us do not drive loaded or unloaded pickups as if we were drag racers. The type of tests carried out by most magazines and web sites are done to be as objective as possible and do so within narrow timelines. I'd like to see testing done over 2 weeks to a months time with offroad and gravel road testing. Davis dam type tests would be important as well.

How about GM and their JUNK running lights that you see always burned out on their pickup trucks! And you people are cutting down Ram. Typical brand loyal one side people. All brands have there issues!
