Recall Alert: 2014 Ram 1500 Pickup

2014 Ram II

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 159 Ram 1500 pickups (125 in the U.S., 32 in Canada, and two outside North America) built within a 12-day period have been identified.

The Problem: ZF Friedrichshafen AG (the makers of the Ram eight-speed transmissions) advised Chrysler that a small shipment of the TorqueFlite 8 transmissions may have a defect that could prevent the vehicle from shifting into Park.

The Fix: Service technicians will inspect the vehicles to determine if the defect is present, then replace the transmission if necessary.

What Owners Should Do: The Chrysler Group will contact certain model-year Ram 1500 owners and advise them when to schedule service. For more information, customers can call 800-853-1403.

Its good to see them catching defects as early as they can. Instead of sweeping tylhem under the rug and leave the pickup truck and the buyer on their own.

Sunday Bloody Sunday. PUTC releases recall notice on a popular half ton truck.

Billy is right good to see them catching defects as early as they can. I mean why build something right in the first place. It’s not like you paying fifty grand for these trucks….oh yeah sorry you actually are paying over 50 grand…lol. Instead have boneheads like Billy bend over for Fiat and have him dish out the bucks for the quality control. Good job Ram have your customers Pay $50K for a truck and have the customers do the quality inspections and save some bucks for the Italians. They are right they do have GUTS at RAM; Billy need some KY and a smoke?

Grow up Lou BC.

Chew on this for a while Lou BC

Quit the crap, really.

It's getting long in the tooth.

You want to debate, but it has to be on your terms.

Learn to debate with good information, then we might be able to have a decent debate.

Opinions are good, but if they are only your view to support the UAW, then how good are they. Look at what you guys have done to Detroit.

Terror tactics (union tactics) don't work on me.

If PUTC wants the UAW or whatever to control this site I suppose it's their decision.

It's not kids like I've been told by PUTC.

They don't seem to care. So this will go on.

Tell someone to grow up, and do the most childish thing here, post something about another brand. My dad is bigger than yours.

@ Ram Big Bonehead 1500: F150 lol...you compare yourself to an Ecobust....hahahahahah. The only good thing about the Fords is that they set themselves on Fire. Now Fiat has to develop the same option, hey but don't worry Ram will have that recall so as well.

Fix It Again Tony!

@ Lou BC & Ram Big horn 1500 Y'all should be so lucky,I wish GM would have recalled & changed the brake lines instead of keep haveing them only covered in wax it flakes off, I one day was going down the road tryed to stop ended up running into a ditch thankfully I wasn't on the highway when it happened.

@Someday Gm will get another bailout - That only because your stupid enough to buy a GM....IDIOT. Maybe the recall will finally kill Government Motors...one can only hope!

Hey but if you trade in your Silverado maybe you can get a Cobalt...lol...is you key chain heavy?

Where's Bubba?? Seems like all his buddies are on this one!

lets see now we have one IDIOT bitching about the union someone complaining about GM brake lines on showing a problem with the 3.5 in a Ford.
Does anybody have something to say, with a brain, about what the actual problem is,with the dodge?

Haha

This is funny. We have @Ram Big Horn 1500 arguing with a bottom feeder who impersonates me.

ROTFLMFAO

@Lou_BC
Somehow I think it is 'numpty the multiposter', you know the brain dead one.

He must be really thick up top. To blog comments under someone's name.............then respond to it.

I've seen little girls with Barbie dolls acting out similar senario's.

I suppose if this guy want to pretend to be a little girl it's his choice.

Geez, I found a picture of numpty with his pickup truck!

Here he is with his Ram pickup. I think this is quite close an observation.

Its ONLY 159 trucks that have been recalled and its a new transmission that's normal to have a few bugs in it.
I expect the new 2015 F-150 will have some recall issues when it comes out so I will wait for another year before I consider buying one.
I sure hope Ford corrects how that wiring harness hangs down low where it comes down from the cab and connects to the outside of the frame. Afraid to off-road it cause a tree branch might get caught in that harness and rip it off.
And,, I hope they improve the electric power steering feel such making it tighter, less responsive at higher speeds.
Sure hope Ford relocates the engine dipstick on the 5.0 cause the only way to reach it now is stand on top of the left front tire and bend and balance your body to reach it.
Ford also needs some type of water drain on the outside cab air intake (after it rains it sounds like your on a boat with the water sloshing around.

I'm impressed that Ram has issued a recall for an issue affecting such a small number of trucks. And I'm also impressed that their fix is a complete new transmission. Given the pattern of manufacturers hiding, minimizing, and delaying when it comes to defects, this is encouraging. Seems like Ram is trying hard to change their quality perception in the marketplace. Especially when you compare this to some of GM's and Ford's recent recall issues and responses. It is important for consumers to reward ethical business practices with their dollars. Brand loyalty is not consumer friendly behavior.

@Big Al from Oz - "I've seen little girls with Barbie dolls acting out similar senario's..."

You know that's why they sent people like you to a hell hole like Australia so you can stop looking little girls with Barbie dolls...you sick f#ck!

Why does PUTC even allow comments on recalls, every discussion turns into a his is better then hers fight.

Explains the reports of roll always on RAM 1500’s with the stupid electric shift rotary dial. 159 units? Hmm, doubt it.

This story brings out an interesting point for the "Buy American" types out there.

ZF Friedrichshafen AG - isn't that a German company??

and if Chrysler was building them under licence "in-house", then why would the German company need to send out a notice?

Those are great points Lou BC but have you thought of this:

If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the others drown too?

and if electricity comes from electrons, does morality comes from morons?

Lou,

ZF sent out the notice, because ZF manufactured the transmissions. Chrysler has yet to start production "in-house" on the 870RE (their version of the 8hp70).

BTW, all the 8 speeds that Chrysler is buying from ZF are currently coming from ZF's new South Carolina plant. Can't get much more American then that.

Now quit trying to be a troll, you will get schooled by people who know more then you.

@Uraidiot - funny you say that a German company in the USA quote " Can't get much more American then that."

Many bloggers on this site don't say the same for Toyota or Honda or Nissan................

You fell right into the bait I had set for those who have that double standard.

It's "All American" if it is a product that a fanboy supports.

In truth, the definition of "domestic product" has NOTHING to do with the ground the head office sits upon but based on the earth that the factory sits on.

Where did I ever set a double standard? In just a knowledgeable person who does research about vehicles that interest me, instead of trolling for idiots.

Instead of baiting people, how about just posting honest questions/answers or opinions?

It is posts like yours, and the garbage from the fanbois, that make this site almost unbareable to read.

@Uraidiot - "Where did I ever set a double standard?"

if you are a legitimate blogger than why use the name you posted under?

"how about just posting honest questions/answers or opinions?"

Use a real name and you will get a real reply.

"It is posts like yours, (guys who cannot use legitimate blog names) and the garbage from the fanbois, that make this site almost unbearable to read.

Fix
It
Again
Tony

Lou gets labeled a troll, Lou can't factually dispute the label, Lou calls me a troll because I choose to use a pseudonym.

And you wonder why I use the name I do?

Just cause I use a pseudonym doesn't mean my points are any less valid.
