"Why Chrysler’s Ram Is Outpacing Ford and GM"

"Fiat Chrysler’s (OTC: FIATY) Ram has gained a lot of ground on Ford recently, something that General Motors’ (NYSE: GM) all-new pickups haven’t been able to manage.

Chrysler’s Ram has gained a lot of ground this year
Here are the plain numbers: So far this year (through May), sales of Ford’s F-Series are up 1.9%, GM’s Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are up a combined 1.6%… and Chrysler’s Ram is up 21%.

That’s a huge gain and it represents a significant market-share win for Chrysler."

"The Ram is a surprisingly strong contender on its merits, not just on price
If you haven’t checked out a Chrysler product recently, you might find it surprising to learn how good Chrysler’s products have become."

RECALL AFTER RECALL AFTER RECALL

G.M.======TOTAL RECALL!!!!

"Some brands have stellar reputations as a result of innovation, well thought-out marketing strategies and good public relations from the companies behind them. On the other hand, weak or defective products, scandals and public company gaffes can damage a brand’s reputation — in some cases for years. Based on 24/7 Wall St.’s assessment of the nation’s largest companies and most high-profile brands, these are America’s nine most damaged brands."

"The greatest damage often comes when companies fail to protect consumers. This is the case with General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM), which may have knowingly sold cars with defective parts."

"General Motors has been under fire over a faulty ignition switch that has been connected to 31 accidents and 13 deaths. Executives, it appears, may have been aware of the defective parts. The iconic automaker recalled 2.6 million cars in February, most of them older Chevrolet Cobalt and Saturn Ion models. As a result, CEO Mary Barra and other top GM executives were called to appear before Congress in early April to address accusations that GM knew about the faulty parts when it sold those cars. While Barra claimed the recall “did not have a meaningful impact on sales” during a first quarter conference call, the company’s operating loss totaled $535 million in the quarter, compared to a nearly $1 billion operating profit the year before. The company also incurred a $1.3 billion charge, largely attributable to the ignition switch problem. The recall is the latest blow to the reputation of the embattled car maker, which emerged from a government-led bankruptcy shortly after the financial crisis."

24/7 Wall st.

Not a huge recall, but it shows how on top of it GM is.

HEMI V8 ....pot meet kettle

While I will concede that RAM sales are still very good ...when I go by any Ford or GM lot I see quite a few of them were not held onto very long and were traded for what must be massive losses.

In case you weren't aware these dealers buy used trucks at auction. Then resale at profit. That's the business. Buy and sell.

Seems to be a whole lot of fiat rams at auction then. Seems to be tons of them to sell.

@Truck nuts, @least the local Ford dealer knows whats going to sell. lol

@little hemi. Yeah Ford dealers know what and how to sell them. See you get a POS fiat ram for hardly nothing at auction and you may have to sit on them for a while but you know eventually it will sell or find its way back to auction. Hey is school out for you now? Seems like you have to much time on your little hands.

Fact of the day: 6 out of the last 10 recalls on PUTC have been from GM.

GM's recall frenzy lives on.

@Truck nuts, Seems you need to go back to school for comprehension. RAM sells are kicking Ford and G.M @$$. READ FIRST POST.

@little hemi. I did read it. You are still in turd place anyway you look at it.

"Hemi V8 get right, it is no longer Chrysler RAM, It is FIAT chrysler ram. Get it correct now!"

@Louis o

You are incorrect. FCA stands for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, no Ram in the name.

Actually..................

you are partially correct since the Ram 1500 is an automobile with a sun deck.

@lou bc, "you are partially correct since the Ram 1500 is an automobile with a sun deck.

And Ford is a BBQ looking for a place to happen.

It's only for base radios.

GM wins again!

@HemiV8 - dream on Ram boy. When all you sell is less than 1/2 of the completion, its hardly a big difference. Chevy updates we're a wash and Ford is set up for a huge Sales lead when the 2015's come out...regardless Ford still outsells Ram easily!!!

Wished mine was missing them chimes and beeping can be annoying at times, but at least it isn't as annoying as the f150s.

Does this really constitute a recall?

Why not just fix the problem the next time the vehicle goes in for a service.

It seems most recalls are due to minor electrical issues.

Maybe better skilled workers are needed at GM along with better QC and better management/supervision.

In my job this type of scenario is very rare. We identify a shortcoming in a process by a task analysis, then modify the process.

How come the car industry just can't get it's act together.

Money???

Maybe I should work for GM and implement better management processes.

This is a pretty lame recall.

I recall (no pun intended) a Top Gear episode where Clarkson went on and on making fun of Americans and their cars with door chimes and key chimes.

Why do vehicles need this sh!t anyway?

It used to be nice to reach under the dash and unplug the chime module.

Seems like a lot of fan boys want to chime in on this recall. Some really get inflamed over the F-150 which gets their goat. They go Rambo over all these recalls.

@johnny doe - your friend's mpg doesn't constitute definite proof of the Ecoboost poor mpg. I can give examples of women I know who say that I’m not crazy, my imaginary friends can prove it. Ford products have been the most unreliable piles of crap they have ever owned. I know 2 guys that wear women underwear. They both are Platinum trim and both have Capgras Syndrome (or should I say one of them has it). I guy says the mpg is on par with any other full sized truck he has ever owned and the other says that love is more important than money, but have you ever tried to pay your bills with a hug?

I have to side with @All1, even though what I do when I see someone pretty is I stare I smile then when I get tired I put the mirror down. EPA ratings and magazine tests can't replicate what individuals may get, it provides a pattern or trend. If you said you had 20 friends with crabs and they all got poor mpg, that would be a larger sample size providing a more reliable STD average.

Yeah, this recall is pretty lame and only reinforces the GM recall fiasco again and again. If they recall these trucks due to improper torque on a plastic license plate fastener, I've lost all hope for GM. I would pay extra to have the door chime be inoperative from the start because I am in/out of the truck constantly anyway doing deliveries.

@Steve - "I am in/out of the truck constantly anyway doing deliveries..."

That's great Steve, speaking about you doing deliveries I'll have
a large pepperoni pizza with mushrooms, olives and extra cheese.

Make it quick or no tip!

I wouldn't call this a recall, I'd call it an improvement!, Those chimes are annoying.

At least Chevy got it right with engine deactivation to increase gas mileage.
Ford failed with turbocharging so instead to accept failure with the eco-boost and follow Chevy and Ram with engine deactivation they make it worse by making a smaller 2.7 eco-boost engine and making the body from aluminum.
The F-150 is going to die in 2015, it will go down in history as the greatest business failure since Coca-Cola changed its formula.

@Lou BC, you are TOO funny. Is this your own material? Wow.....

@Lou BC, BTW, I forgot to mention it is confidential material that does not go through the mail, but the pizza reference was good.

GM CEO Barra promises no limit on victim compensation.

General Motors CEO Mary Barra reiterated today that the company won’t limit the compensation plan for victims of the company’s ignition-switch defect.

As shareholders from throughout the world gather for the automaker’s annual meeting in Detroit, Barra told reporters that the company has given compensation fund director Kenneth Feinberg the authority to determine the breadth of victim settlements.

“Our goal is to make sure everyone who is impacted by the ignition-switch issue is appropriately compensated,” Barra said. GM must “do the right thing for those who were harmed.”

She added: “I believe if we do the right thing for the customers and we do the right thing for the business, we are doing the right thing for shareholders.”

THIS IS THE BEST THING G.M. CAN DO TO REPAIR IT'S TARNISHED IMAGE. GLAD G.M. IS STEPPING UP FOR THE VICTIMS OF THEIR DEADLY VEHICLES.

Study claims 303 death from GM cars

More than 300 deaths are associated with General Motors recalls, according to a new study by the Center for Auto Safety, sparking criticism from the automaker, which called the report “pure speculation.” Fred Katayama reports.

@Steve - looks like the fake me is entertaining you.

5:35 pm and I still haven't pee'd on myself today...

GM WINS AGAIN!!!!

Hey geniuses,
All those bashing GM, you might want to check your recalls on Ford. If you can read ok you'll see they have just as many recalls as anyone else. Huh, what did ford say...I don't recall because we already did our own recall ; )
