2014 Woodward Dream Cruise Vintage Pickups

IMG_9228 II

Sure, there are cruise nights all over the country thoughout the summer, but the Woodward Dream Cruise is something completely different. People from all over the Midwest come to a stretch of Woodward Avenue that starts in Detroit and spans a dozen communities. Spectators line the street with folding chairs and pop-up tents to watch the main attraction: classic American muscle cars and pickup trucks cruising the boulevard.

Here is just a selection of the amazing vehicles we saw running up and down the road during the long weekend — the event started Aug. 14 and runs through Aug. 16. We'll try to get all our photos sorted soon and post the rest of the eye candy on the PickupTrucks.com Facebook page. More to come.

That Chevy 2 tone Green/White pickup is beautiful.

Is the Chevy truck a 1972?

It says 1971 right behind it.

Now if they had just used the 1967-1972 trucks as a starting point for the new trucks, instead mid 80s.

Maybe even a dash like the 61-63s had.

I like the girl taking a picture of that guy with the ram horns on. That 71 chevy is beautiful. Sad they lost it somewhere along the way.

I never could figure out the interest in rat rods. I guess that guys with no talent are entitled to build stuff too ;)

That '72 seems so simple and so perfect....describes what pickup owners value...Chevy sure got that right at that time

Quit the crap, really.

It's getting long in the tooth.

You want to debate, but it has to be on your terms.

Learn to debate with good information, then we might be able to have a decent debate.

Opinions are good, but if they are only your view to support the UAW, then how good are they. Look at what you guys have done to Detroit.

Terror tactics (union tactics) don't work on me.

If PUTC wants the UAW or whatever to control this site I suppose it's their decision.

It's not kids like I've been told by PUTC.

"I never could figure out the interest in rat rods"

I think rat rods are a spit in the face to all the nice, bright & shiny hot rods that are all chromed out with loud colors that scream "look at me," that and you won't be stressed about scratching it or having to polish/wax the chrome and nice paint job.

The one in the first pic looks terrible but there are some that are just cool.

@Mista Chow - I agree but only if they look like they are well put together.

@Fag Lou - looks like I inadvertently criticized your daily driver.
I know Walmart doesn't pay well and you can't spend food stamps on car parts.
I'm sure there are Democrats out their somewhere trying to make your life better.

Is that the back of a 57 Pontiac on that rat rod? The front looks like a 30's vintage truck. That rat rot looks Appalachian.

Die hard tundra here but that 1970s Chevy is incredible.

Put a 2.8 cummins in a retro and I'd buy a Chevy!

Chevrolet's last real truck up top. Durable steel, high build quality, SFA equipped on 4x4's, round wheel openings and most of all drop dead gorgeous.

Hands down the best looking pickup made by any company at any point in history. 1967-1972 Chevrolet trucks are the best.

---- Well, we can thank GM-GM'c' for ruining Chevrolet trucks. They've ruined their looks, options and identity all for the protection of GM'c' when it comes to trucks. GM has ruined the SBC when it comes to engines calling it 'GM' sb. They've ruined the same when it comes to cars just to protect Bu'ick'. Efff them. GM can go to hell for what they've done to Chevrolet & Cadillac. I can't stand that abortion of a company any longer.
