Chevrolet to Offer Custom Sport Special Edition
Chevrolet just announced its newest special-edition option package called the Custom Sport, and it will be available on the 2015 Silverado 1500. The package will cost between $2,000 and $3,000 and includes body-colored grille surrounds, bumpers and mirror caps along with chrome side accents and door handles as well as 20-inch wheels and tires.
The Custom Sport truck dates back to the late 1960s and reflects the idea that all pickups, like their owners, want to be unique. The Custom Sport Silverado 1500 will be based off the double-cab or crew-cab LT or LTZ model and can also include the Z71 ordering package. LT models will be offered in black and white, while LTZ trucks will be offered in black and White Diamond.

I really HATE GM's special edition trucks or packages as they are nothing but appearance packages with bigger charges. Ford did the Raptor. Toyota did the TRD Pro Tundra. I would like all of what they said plus be lowered and be either a supercharged 5.3L V8 or NA 6.2L V8.
We have all seen my Tundra on here and I did a color matched grille, color matched bumper and chrome accents and it didn't come up $3,000. I even did dual exhaust and a sway bar and neither are part of that Sport package but would make some nice editions.
Yawn. Another overpriced sticker/appearance package without substance. Drop a little extra Hp in there with a better stance (lower for 2wd/higher for 4wd) and then you might have something worth that extra cash.
This comment really isn't accurate;
"The Custom Sport truck dates back to the late 1960s and reflects the idea that all pickups, like their owners, want to be unique"
So how many pickups are sold? How can being a pickup owner make you unique?
This vehicle is a way for GM to grab some easy cash.
I do prefer the white over a black pickup.
My fault!
Agreed. GM's special package infatuation is getting ridiculous.
What a novel and extremely radical idea; pickup trucks available it white or black for only $3,000 more!
Ford of course will not be outdone; The EcoBeast will be a $5,000 premium.
As a GM guy, these packages deserve a big facepalm! Xo They need to offer more trim packages with say a center console shifter, etc. Not that I would take the center shifter or the column but it would bring in more customers that like that kind of stuff!
If anything they should be offering a Z71 appearance package for a no cost upgrade like the previous generation.
Ram has offered this exact package as a Sport for years...
Looks nice and sharp, but it looks too much like a regular white Silverado.
The regular model(s) (SLE, SLT, and Denali) Sierras still looks better than this color matched Silverado.
at least with a Chevy and Ram truck you know what you're getting
Ford did the Tremor with the 14 F-150 and they did a sport truck the right way and used the premium motor, color matched, lowest available axle ratio for street performance and removed the premium interior. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZFbh7jaIuQ
GM doesn't have to build something really special (supercharged 5.3L V8) but the least they can do is match the Tremor and then take the next step. 6.2L V8, Reg or Double Cab, color matched, lowest available axle ratio for street performance, remove the premium interior, give it sport handling, cold air intake for more aggressive interior sound (Toyota does it with TRD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMszQUYUg3Q) and add dual exhaust for aggressive exterior sound (Toyota does it with TRD as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2-d3tmtHJM ). They can still have that 45K starting price like they do with all of the other 6.2L V8 trims. Make all of that a 1-2yr or 1-3yr run package.
I do believe their needs to be a permanent color matched trim level for Chevy but that would be a FX2 and FX4 fighter and Not a Special Edition.
Why is it everybody in here always compares any truck with a F-150?
That's what makes the Chevy stand out that its NOT a F-150 !
I guess it's not your fault cause everybody is programed for a F-150 to pop into their brain when they think of a truck.
...... that will change

With 395 horsepower on 89 octane under the hood I would call that sporty. 5.3 Not so much.
Ram 1500 has the 8-Speed Auto 5.7L Hemi V8 R/T with 3.92 limited slip axle ratio and dual exhaust http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2015-ram-1500-r-t-hemi-test-review and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grt9wBVxqqw.
Stickers and body color paint....wow its 1976 again. Offer the 6.2 and eight speed in a regular cab short bed and then you have something deserving of the title "Sport".
I think Buick cars and GM/GMC trucks-suv's have really started to make Chevrolet irrelevant as an automaker or even a 'brand' as they call it now. They've already made Cadillac irrelevant in my mind. The Corvette may survive long term, possibly Camaro but that's it. So I really see no point in this truck. The money would have been better spent on a platinum trimmed IRS Tahoe which is sorely needed. Chevrolet let the Silverado fail to the F-150 to boost GMC sales but to lose the Tahoe to the Expedition just to boost the Yukon would be nearly as sad.
@AD, I'm with you on this one, I've been a loyal GM customer ever since the revamp of the Camaro and Firebird in 1993, and what would have made this Silverado more exciting would have been a Supercharged 5.3 or 6.2 liter, coupled with a new 8 Speed Transmission and 3 or 4 new exterior color choices that could also be shared with the remaining line up, good effort from GM, though not enough in my opinion to be a big-time head turner.
