They should release the 2016 Tacoma early, like in March of 2015.

People are itching to buy a new one, especially people with a Tacoma that's 8 years old or older.

Throw in the 5.7 V8 as a special edition truck and I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

Question #1 Will Toyota honor warranty problems such as heater blower motors, rusted chrome bumpers and front wheel bearings?

Question #2 If Toyota offers free 2 year maintenance does that mean no hidden charges meaning if the dealer fills up the washer fluid or adjustment of the gas cap and charges me extra?

Question #3 Is the 2016 Tacoma a "flex fuel" meaning if I do add 10% ethanol like ALL gas stations use that it won't ruin my fuel pump and void the warranty?

Question #4 Was the Tacoma's plastic truck bed redesigned so it doesn't crack in the extreme cold or fade to gray in the sun?

Question #5 Was the rear axle vent redesigned so it doesn't clog up with dirt causing the axle seals to leak?

Question #6 Was the frame coated with a sealer so the frame doesn't rust after the first year of ownership?

No questions about the Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon will be tolerated !

bye bye Tacoma !

I didn't think it was possible but they managed to make this as ugly as the tundra!

I'll admit I'm not the biggest Toyota fan. This is primarily driven by the premium Toyota charges for it's products.

But, I'd have to admit they do build very good vehicles. Most manufacturers could as well if they use generation old technology in their pickups.

So, what I'd like to know from Toyota is what leading technology are they going to offer that can differentiate it from other pickup manufacturers.

Will the next Taco incorporate as standard gearboxes with 6spd or 8spds. Will they offer trailer sway on the Taco.

Shockingly, it doesn't look stupid.

My questions would be related to the engines and transmissions. Will there be a new 4 and 6 cylinder engine like a direct injection and will the standard transmission be a 6 speed manual. What type of automatic will be available? Will the platform be the same as the old Tacoma or will they use a Global Hilux platform?

Sooooo much better looking than the Colorado/canyon.
Unfortunately, toyota probably won't update anything else which is sad.

For me, I'll buy a 2016 Tacoma. Under no circumstances will I buy and UAW/Union made vehicle!

Will the new Tacoma come with Apple CarPlay?

Remember, buying any UAW vehicle is support for the DumoRat party. Buy Toyota, or at least something not union goon/DumoRat made!

My Last Tacoma was a super lemon, spent 60 days at the dealership and the trolls who work for Toyota would not give me a new one during the arbitration process. Toyota makes a great truck but if you have a problem with one then you are SCREWED and they WONT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. Best truck, best resale vale but WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE COMPANY EVER!

I have a Ford now and I love it. Trouble free and 2x the payload of a Tundra or any other half ton with the Heavy Payload Package.

Question #1 Will Toyota honor warranty problems such as heater blower motors, rusted chrome bumpers and front wheel bearings?

That’s why there is a rust warranty, doh! What does Ford, GM, and Ram do about rust on cab corners and bed wheel wells after the rust warranty is done, nothing.

Question #2 If Toyota offers free 2 year maintenance does that mean no hidden charges meaning if the dealer fills up the washer fluid or adjustment of the gas cap and charges me extra?

That’s ridiculous, that’s a dealer issue not a Toyota brand issue. How do you adjust the gas cap anyways, do you forget to tighten it after you get gas?

Question #3 Is the 2016 Tacoma a "flex fuel" meaning if I do add 10% ethanol like ALL gas stations use that it won't ruin my fuel pump and void the warranty?

Our 4.0 V6 in our 4th gen 4runner has the same 236hp V6 in the tacomas, and we have never heard of an issue like that on either vehicle. Care to cite a source?

Question #4 Was the Tacoma's plastic truck bed redesigned so it doesn't crack in the extreme cold or fade to gray in the sun?

First off it’s composite, not plastic.

Question #5 Was the rear axle vent redesigned so it doesn't clog up with dirt causing the axle seals to leak?

The rear diff breather is the same on all the vehicles I’ve had, I’ve never seen any brand run a diff breather farther than a few inches above the axle. You can buy some airline and for $10 you can extend it to the tail light like any smart off roader would do.

Question #6 Was the frame coated with a sealer so the frame doesn't rust after the first year of ownership?

See question #1 response

The “new” Tacoma will probably get the 4Runner 270HP V6, and another new engine. I highly doubt anything ground breaking will be released tomorrow. I hope either the 4.6 V8 6 speed is released with the 16 Tacos, or new small diesel similar to what GM is doing with the baby Dmax.

Diesel? I would def get one..

This is just another joke of a Refresh. Toyota has done the bare minimum to make as much profit as they can. Toyota does not take their truck line seriously. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time submitting questions. They will not answer anything that makes them look bad.

I am not expecting much from Toyota, never a leader always a follower. The dealers suck, the company right behind them. Plenty of giving the customer the shaft on warranty items.
Where the Tacoma bed is plastic or composite, the problem of cracking and turning grey is the issue. The rust outs on them makes GM and RAM look like good bets.
The previews look like the typical warm over of the old corpse, ugly and uninspiring. That being said if the there is real news under the plastic surgeon skin job ,like real engine / transmission / driveline news then there might be something to talk about
I stay away from them , because of what friends who owned them bitch about- the rust, cheap matetials, lousy seating, bad dealer experience and the almighty warranty claim denied. You really do not see a lot of old ones on the road, despite the propaganda they do not last.

Hope they can answer questions about:

- plans for better fuel economy,
- advanced transmission designs 8sp etc,
- improved payload/towing,
- diesel engine plans,
- why so many low mileage wheel bearing failures,
- why so many low mileage water pump leakages?

Thank you Toyota, for making a historic and great looking truck into a plastic-looking piece of crap. To me, this truck resembles the 2002 Dodge Dakota... Is this a joke? It seems the aesthetics of your vehicles are regressing, similar to Acura vehicles. I thought toyota was supposed to be innovators. I refrained myself from buying a 2015 Tacoma and a 2015 4Runner because your technology was well outdated compared to other Japanese branded vehicles. Bluetooth 2.1 and poor sound quality speakers in a 42K Limited 4Runner? No thanks. While German vehicles are reputable for having poor electronics tech compared to Japanese Vehicles, I am sure I bought my 2008 mercedes for less and it came with a premium sound system that is far superior... and this was 7 Years ago.

and why are you still offering cloth material for seats in a car that costs over 35K? Ever heard of leatherette? This is ridiculous. Japanese vehicles are supposed to be affordable and loaded with more tech each redesign. When will toyota offer a 4Runner with better gas milage or Diesel? I've driven the toyota 4Runner and it is unimpressive when it comes to power... Lexus (which is a toyota) came out with a 7 speed automatic vehicle while I was in high school 8 years ago... Mercedes, Dodge, Chrysler, and other manufacturers offer more than a 5 speed automatic. Your transmission system seems a bit out-dated as well...

For your GX (lexus), you took a 4runner's chasis and loaded it up with a bunch of crap that you think is luxurious. It compromised on gas efficiency to a engine that barely produces any power or had efficiency in the first place. What are your professional engineers thinking? If you're going to charge more money each year for a vehicle, at least give us, the consumers more value so we feel that we are buying something that will lasts us for years such as how your older vehicles have been in the past.

Look at a 2002 Dodge Daktoka... now look at your supposedly redesigned Tacoma. Looks similar to my eyes.. You just updated it to projector headlights and ugly chrome.

Your current 4Runner and Tacoma look like a well build vehicle... especially the TRD models. I would expect Japanese Vehicles to have high standards for something that is supposedly a redesign.

Do you guys even test drive your vehicles before sell them?

I am sure the 1992 SR5 is more reliable and better in every way than this piece of crap that is supposed to be a redesign. FIRE your engineers.... or better question, DO YOU HAVE ANY?! Seems like this company is sharing the same aesthetic designers as Acura. Your stock and profit will tank from here on out with such poor design and poor performance vehicles.. Still using a 5speed? Still have some crappy speakers and poor techonology in the vehicle? I think some beats speakers that costs $300 sound better than the ones in a vehicle that costs 41K to 45K (4Runner). Gas efficiency is terrible/horrific. Efficiency and power is terrible overall. I cant even make it up to tahoe on a 2010 Tacoma without flooring the vehicle.. and still, it struggles to make it up the hill... WHY OFFER 4X4 when it is incapable of bearing it's own weight on flat land???

PUT A TURBO DIESEL in the truck and up to date technology in the vehicle... Surely it will out compete with other trucks and make the company reputable. Who is the president of Toyota?

Is this going to be an all new truck like the tundra was with a face lift and nicer interior... because I've been burned before by a "new truck"

Toyota please don't answer any of the questions with your typical answer when pressed, QDR quality durability reliability. Try giving a real answer. Don't tell us your engine is 'good enough' because you don't use push rods. I want to know why does it take 11 years for a new model?

A couple questions for Toyota/Mike Sweers:

What differentiates a refresh vs "all new", please explain.

If the 2016 Tacoma has the dual VVT-i V6 and a 6sp auto...why? The 4.0 is still the 4.0. No direct injection or other technologies to differentiate the Tacoma from other auto makers.

If they utlize a 6 speed auto and its not an 6 speed auto that already existing within the Toyota/Lexus arsenal...why? Why waste time and money developing a 6sp auto when the industry has already moved to 8 and 9 speed?

I know Mike Sweers is against adding features that won't pay for the customers, which I completely agree with. However with that said. I believe it will take multiple technologies to really move the needle when it comes to fuel economy with the Tacoma. Mike needs to stop being so dead set against newer technologies. In fact a lot of the technologies listed below are not that new anymore and have been proven out in other Lexus/Toyota applications. It's past time to start making some more significant changes!

- Direct Injection (D-4S)
- Dual VVT-iW
- 8 speed auto (Lexus was the first, and Toyota/Lexus have been extremely slow to adopt 8speeds to the rest of their lineup)
- Electric Power Steering (Mike Sweers claims that truck owners need better feedback through the steering when backing up to a trailer. I say B.S., electric power steering has come a long way. Refine it Mike to behave better for truck owner...don't just dismiss it)
- Variable displacement oil pump
- Low viscosity oil in the engine and gear cases

Just a few examples.

has Toyota fixed the well documented release bearing problem on the 2005 to 2015 Tacoma 6 speed manual tranny, where the aluminum shaft wears out causing release bearing chirp ? Right now, the only "fix" is an aftermarket Upgrade Kit that consists of a stainless steel "sleeve that is pressed on over the worn aluminum shaft. Also, has the leaf spring problem (bad design/premature rusting) been fixed. Solid truck, but concerned about these "poor " design flaws going forward.
thank you.

They have to keep improving the tacoma TOYOTA SHOULD GIVE A BIG LAUNCH OFF FOR THIS JUST LIKE CHEVY DID WITH THE SILVERADO. BUT IF THE WANT REP. LIKE FORD ALL THEIR CARS MUST BE GOOD WHICH MEANS NO MORE GAS GUSLERS

I would like to see a diesel option. Looks great

lol @ everyone posting questions in here like this is where they're reading for the live feed

I like that Toyota is trying to keep the price down on their Tacoma by not putting stupid "updated" items on it that just raise the price and nothing else - or appease the DumoBrat and their EPA and UAW Parasites. Support the good freemarket/non-violent people of San Antonio and buy one....AND...It doesn't look nearly as stupid as the last Tacoma.

Estimated MPG for the 4x4?

I missed the Q&A. Did anybody ask about front legroom as compared to last year's model?

I just got the call from my Toyota dealership telling me my new 2015 TRD double cab came in today, I was excited until I saw the news. Now I see the release on the 2016 redesign! Do I wait for the fall and the new 2016 or take the 2015 tomorrow??? I was also disappointed to see the Consumer Report list of 15 worst vehicles to buy this year and my 2015 Tacoma 4x4 is #14!
