Watch Ram Unveil a Truck Live on Feb. 12

Rebel Hegbloom II

Anytime you hear about a car or truck company providing a live feed to a press conference, you know they're planning to do something special. We're hearing all sorts of rumors about what Ram will reveal at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, and you'll be able to see it live at the same time as the automotive media.

A live satellite feed will broadcast the unveiling of a new truck from Ram. The press conference is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Eastern time on Feb. 12 and will likely run for about 30 minutes. The broadcast will be replayed immediately after the live program on the same link.

Twin turbo v6 is what they are going to reveal. It will be there top engine.

What can Ram offer different or an improvement to the existing model?

I do think the engine/drivetrain Ram offers are very competitive.

The vehicle could shed a few pounds and maybe a suspension upgrade.

Offer a new HD?

A sports package wouldn't warrant this type of propaganda.

Will Ram offer a mid sizer?

I wonder if it'll be the 2017 ram or that mid-sized fiat based truck caught sometime ago?

A Fiat Van based mid sized truck

The Ram 1500 definitely needs to lose some weight and gain some GVWR. They get pretty porky in crew cab guise, Motor Trend recently tested one that weighed nearly 6000lb and had less than 1000lb of payload capacity.

I agree with Big Al, Ram 1500's suck at payload they're useless for contractors like me.

It's a refresh for the 1500, but what it really needs is a complete overhaul. The Ram 1500 dates back to 2008. It last received a refresh in 2012 CY. The redesign won't be around for a few more years so another refresh will have to suffice.

This was supposed to be unveiled in Detroit but Ram got scared by all of the new truck debuts. The Ram won't be another refresh. It will be a mild update. Refresh is not until 2018. New Ram won't happen until some time after 2020.

The Real Ram Rebel with HO Ecodiesel, Portal Axles, Locking Diffs front and rear, Long Travel Suspension, and not one but two flux capacitors...?

What I'm hoping for is not what I'm expecting.

About Ram Truck Brand
Since its launch as a stand-alone division in 2009, the Ram Truck Brand has steadily emerged as an industry leader with one goal: to build the best pickup trucks and commercial vehicles in the industry.

Creating a distinct identity for Ram Trucks has allowed the brand to concentrate on core customers and features they find valuable. Whether focusing on a family that uses a Ram 1500 day in and day out, a hard-working Ram 3500 Heavy Duty owner or a business that depends on its Ram ProMaster commercial van every day for deliveries, Ram has the truck market covered.

In order to be the best, it takes a commitment to innovation, capability, efficiency and durability. Ram Truck invests substantially in its products, infusing them with great looks, refined interiors, durable engines and exclusive features that further enhance their capabilities. Moving into the 2015 model year, Ram continues to beat the competition in the two most sought-after titles, fuel economy and towing capacity:

Best-in-class fuel economy with exclusive EcoDiesel – 29 mpg with Ram 1500
Best-in-class towing capability – 30,000 pounds with Ram 3500
Best-in-class payload – 7,390 pounds with Ram 3500
Best-in-class torque – 865 lb.-ft. with Ram 3500 equipped with Cummins

Truck customers, from half-ton to commercial, have a demanding range of needs and require their vehicles to provide high levels of capability. Ram trucks are designed to deliver a total package.

maybe there is a chance it is the much rumored pug twin turbo v6. Sound familiar? Although there is a good chance it won't come for a couple more years. But it is coming Sooner or later. The ecoboost haters might be singing a different tune soon. Gm has all but said they will release a turbo six in the silverado too.

I'm skeptical that Ram will have anything extraordinary to show at this event. I'm hoping it will be the '17 update, but it seems too early for that.

Could it be a 6.4 Hemi in the 1500? Could it be a Raptor Killer?
Could it be a medium size truck? What ever the case will be watching.

I agree with Big Al, Ram 1500's suck at payload they're useless for contractors like me.

Don't know what your business is. Mine was AC heating and we never had a truck/van 1/2 ton. Always a 3/4 ton up. Try a class leading Ram H.D. 1/2 ton is for homeowner. I don't know any fleet work truck with all the bells and whistles. My Ford 3/4 ton van had roll up windows no C.D. no cruise etc...

Ram tradesman= MAX TOWING 10,650 LBS+MAX PAYLOAD 1,900 LBS+

I would say Direct Injection in the Hemi would be nice, as it does have nice power now, and fuel economy for what it is. Then the truck itself could go on a diet and loose about 500 lbs. Just imagine a Ram Crew Cab with a GVW of 7,200lbs. and a curb weight of 5400? with the reg cab at 4900? and a new D.I. Hemi with 400hp and 420 ft/lbs tq! and still be able to get 23mpg hyw and 18 city! That would be nice!

Very curious if this turns out to be a new mid size (or even compact) pickup.

RAM 1500 HELLCAT !!!

(better not be the promaster city)

No it better not be the Ram 700!

Ram has a 2500 with a 6.4 Hemi with a payload of 3,900+ lbs.

You go Chase!

agree with HemiV8, 1/2 tons are for getting groceries not doing real work, not to mention, the tow ratings of half tons are useless unless you are using weight distribution hitches, that is in fact what those numbers are based on, if you contract guys are towing large trailers without WD then you are gonna be over weight anyway since most 1/2 tons are rated at only 5-6K pound trailer without WD

"Anytime you hear about a car or truck company providing a live feed to a press conference, you know they're planning to do something special."

Translation:

"Anytime a car or truck company chooses Chicago over Detroit for a reveal, the product is probably not that special at all."

Chase: The Ram 15oo reg cab Hemi 4x2 does have the capabilities shown, ( 1,820lbs, 10,650lbs towing), you are talking about the reg can 4x4! But you are correct about the limits of the 3.6 1/2t Ram reg cab 8'bed 4x2.

Ram 1500 HD with a 4.0L Ecodiesel to one up the Titan.

Maybe Ram is going to bring in some Iveco trucks or the Strada.
Most likely just another paint and sticker kit assembled from the parts bin.
If it was something really big, new, or amazing it would of been unveiled at Detroit.
Maybe a peak at the lipstick porcine makeover of the 2016 model while everyone waits for the next gen Ram.

Or better yet. How about a Power Wagon with the V8 Cummins and or a Light Duty Ram 2500 with the V8 Diesel and the 8 speed ZF. Fill the middle ground between the HD 2500 and 1500. Totally give the new Nissan something to compete with. Not everyone needs a to pull a butt ton of stuff, but need enough to tow camp trailer and atvs. Plus, it would be nice to have a lighter duty with a solid front axle.
But, more than likely it will be another van, probably a passenger variant of the larger option. Either way. Nice to see new stuff.

I would be all over a 2500 with a v8 cummins diesel!

RAM is one hell of a good truck design as is. i wish the electrical gremlins that are obiously a problem didnt exist. My RAM 2500 was a mess after the transmission went out @ 50k. had nothing but problems. Dealer had no clue on how to fix the truck. I got lucky and it stopped running like it was possesed all on its own and i still drive it daily but it was just dumb luck that saved the truck.

It's a very minor update to the pickup truck. There is debate on other sites on whether it will be for the 1500 or 2500. I'm guessing it will be for the 1500 and will include a grille, LEDs, rear/front park assist, and new leather. Nothing too exciting.

Apparently this is the update:

Could the H.D. stand for Heavy Duty 1/2 ton?

Ugh, that grill is hideous! Who will pay premium bucks for a huge chrome RAM on the tailgate, that doesn't scream premium luxury! Other than that, it looks like a nice truck, but the front and back are so bad, I wouldn't look any further.

Be thankful you still have a truck to drive all covered under warranty. Here are some electrical gremlins at Ford. They haven't gotten a hold of.
