Recall Alert: BFGoodrich Commercial T/A Tires
Tires Affected: Michelin North America is recalling specific BFGoodrich Commercial T/A All-Season tires (affected tire sizes include LT275/70R18 125/122Q LRE, LT275/70R18 125/122R LRE, LT235/80R17 120/117R LRE, LT 265/70R17 121/118R LRE, LT245/75R17 121/118R LRE and LT245/70R17 119/116R LRE) and BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A tires (affected tire sizes include LT275/70R18 125/122R LRE and LT275/65R18 123/120R LRE). The tires were produced near the end of 2014 and into 2015 and could involved some commercial trucks, full-size vans, RVs, and one-ton pickup trucks.
The Problem: The sidewall of the tires can rupture during use and lose air rapidly, causing the vehicle to lose control and increasing the likelihood of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will provide similar replacement tires free of charge.
What Owners Should Do: Michelin began notifying owners Aug. 24. Owners can call BFGoodrich at 866-524-2638, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more information.

Lucky I'm using BF T/A AT, LT265/75/R17s.
If you look at the profile of the tyres recalled I did notice that the wider, higher profile tyres are not amongst them.
We were behind a loaded dump truck that was doing around 60mph, when one of the rear dualies blew,Kaboom, good thing there was multiple lanes to dodge the flying tread
Bob, most of the recalls are from faulty parts made overseas, might want to check to see where these tires were manufactured. We want quality products but do not want to pay the price, so manufactures go the cheap route..
It must be understood that tire recalls are only fixing the issue of driver stupidity.
Virtually all tire failures are caused by the driver in some way or another. Things like accidentally hitting the curb or off-road abuse can all contribute to premature tire failure.
I would say the number one cause of tire failure is prolonged under inflation. How often do most people check their tire pressure? Under inflation significantly weakens a tire. You can have the most expensive tire in the world, and driving with low pressure will wear it out quickly.
When there is a tire recall, all it is saying is that this tire will fail more quickly under abuse. It doesn't mean it's a significantly worse tire. If people care about their safety, then as always, the most important factor in safety is regular maintenance.

Power stroke what part of improperly cured silica compounds in the sidewall do you not understand? There was a manufacturing error
@BOB.....Michelin is a FRENCH Company !!! They own BF Goodrich...
Reason so many recalls today, we have so many laws...and rules,China has basically no rules !! Chinese vehicles wont pass our safety standards..
Here's an interesting article PUTC could of picked up on.

A lot of the recalls are because the manufacturers are worried the feds will fine them for not acting quickly enough or hiding something. record fines for Toyoda fca GM ect...
So now they just recall everything.
If you think the imports are better your kidding yourself i work for Honda/acura and the quality of their new cars is not as good as it used to be. They look nice but are rushed out of production too fast before the bugs are worked out. We have quite a few recalls right now on few different models. not a bad thing for dealers though as it gets people into the dealership and they sometimes spend more money or buy a new car.
BFG is a French company. Why would you buy tires from the French when the USA has better offerings right here (Cooper, General, Goodyear, etc.)??
WXman,
I think you'll find all of the BF T/A's are actually manufactured in the US.
