Recall Alert: 2015 Ford F-150
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 33,500 model-year 2015 Ford F-150 pickup trucks manufactured between March 18, 2014, and Aug. 5, 2015, at the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan, and between Aug. 11, 2014, and Aug. 6, 2015, at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri
The Problem: When passing a large, highly reflective truck, the adaptive cruise control radar could incorrectly identify the truck as being in the F-150's lane of travel; this could cause the vehicle to brake until the large truck is no longer perceived to be in the same lane. This issue could also result in the activation of the collision warning system's red warning light and tone, as well as the illumination of the brake lights. The unexpected braking could increase the risk of a crash involving a vehicle traveling behind the F-150. Ford said it is aware of one accident possibly attributable to this issue, but no reported injuries.
The Fix: Dealers will update the adaptive cruise control module software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Ford did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 866-436-7332 for more info.

Like you guys always say to many electronic components for something to go wrong, When this equipment goes out on a truck and isn't fixed how much decrease in value do you guys think it takes?

If people paid more attention to driving then we wouldn't see a proliferation of devices with the intention of making driving safer. It is a vicious circle since more safety devices make people more lazy and inattentive. No wonder there is a push for fully autonomous vehicles.
BTW......... what constitutes a large highly reflective truck?
A chromed brodozer?
I prefer to do my sleeping in bed and drive with my eyes open. No software required.
@ Lou_BC ,its not people are such bad drivers its the Government and activist groups always say "If it just saves one life"
When people come from different Countries, they should not be allowed to drive (unless just visiting no longer than 1 month ) because people can be from india/China/Pakistan and live here and drive and they have NO rules there,so they are the ones causing accidents and bad driving in B.C...B.C is gone...Vancouver/Lower mainland is 80% immigrant..its a different world going through there.. I now live in Washington State !
@Lou BC
"what constitutes a large highly reflective truck?"
A rig with a polished aluminum or snow-white trailer, with the sun reflecting off of it toward the F-150. Anyone who has ever driven next to such a tractor-trailer in bright sun knows it creates plenty of glare as you pass.
@ Lou_BC ,
Should have said if you hold a drivers licence from another country you don't need to be re-tested to get one in BC..So its a farce as India etc they don't have roads or RULES like a civilized Western Society..just google how they drive, you will see...Its not the real Canadians its the new Canadians that cant drive...I couldn't take living there any more .In Richmond they banned Whites from going to most malls (look it up it happened) or go there you will be yelled at, starred at and advised to leave.
Now that's a smart truck. Glad Ford is the only one with it. I see a ton of recalls in Fords bright future no pun intended. Guess it's hard to see these things coming with all the hours of testing in an empty shed. lol This is the smartest Ford truck ever. Good luck with that. :-) Waiting for the Fire recalls from the massage seats. Adding a ton of new electrical loads is not a good idea for the already flammable ford. I will steer clear from these new fords so i don't get collected.
----WARNING DRIVER MAY BREAK HARD FOR NO REASON!------
Even though this recall involves safety, I don't consider it a big one. At least it has been recalled.
I do find some of the comments in this article quite naïve. Especially the reasons for these types of devices and bling.
The consumer is probably more to blame than anyone else.
If people continually buy vehicles with supposed "Best in Class" features, companies will continually come up with better and better toys to entertain and "keep" us safe.
Anyone who submit comments regarding how people drive in developing nations should actually understand the many challenges these countries face. Visit one. These people are not as lucky as us.
It's well and good to denigrate these nations to make yourself feel superior, but the reality is what you speak of costs money.
Google the work the World Bank has been carrying out in developing nations to improve road safety and reduce fatalities.
I can say the US doesn't have the best road safety standards in the world, just by the use of data showing fatalities. So, why not make sure your back yard is spotless first?

Here Hemi V8, maybe you can suck on this for a while.

surprised no one has posted this yet
Oh god I hope GM is not that desperate to link up with Navistar. They are the Fiat of the medium and heavy duty world. Right now I am putting together a spec bid for freightliner because international has been bad. Engines suck, emissions systems suck.
GM would be supplying both of those things, other then that, international builds a solid truck

I thought GM and Isuzu was doing medium duty together. International is oK but they are having issues with joining the Cummins 6.7 and low profile durastars together. Thus why we are going freightliner. Seems EMS is migrating over from Internaional.
They are still partnering with Isuzu, but Isuzu will be supplying the smaller "cab forward" trucks. The rollback's, dump trucks and stake beds im assuming will be built by international with GM powertrains.
Would rather see GM use someone else as a partner but at least in medium duty most parts are sourced elsewhere like Dana Meritor axles, wabco, etc.
It's funny many of my international parts have Ford part numbers on them also. Since Ford no longer has the relationship I guess another one can take place. In many cases I can get my parts cheaper at the Ford dealer vs international dealer.
I guess i should say international would be supplying the chassis. Different outfitters put all the boxes, stake beds, rollbacks, that kind of thing onto the chassis.
Public announcement:
Please be polite to your fellow Ford drivers.
When you see them passing, keep extra distance in the case of software checks light bulb circuits, or adaptive cruise control radar hits something reflective or ecoboost might get choked driving in heavy rain , it will brake heavily and might be causing fatal accidents.
They should install stickers on the tailgate right in the factory , KIDS ON THE BOARD.
Wow hemiv8!!! Yeah I think after reading that little article I don't think you need to open your mouth anymore. Yes i do think there are way to many electronics on cars and trucks these days. I remember years ago riding in a Cadillac with auto headlight dimmer and it would drive the guy in front of you crazy with that thing picking up the reflection of his chrome back bumper. Just don't need all this stuff.
The aluminum body is the reason this is happening
I prefer to have control of my accelerator, brakes, headlights, wipers and just about everything else. Eventually there will be few cars where it is actually enjoyable to drive.
You need to read that article to there GOMAR. You and hemi must of come from the same pair of nutts.
The international prostar is a POS. Suffered in one for 6 months. Had adaptive cruise which is annoying and dangerous, so I pulled the breaker. As for this recall, I'm not going to pile on like some of you guys do. Let's just say, here's your hi-tech, get used to it

I had a demo vehicle for a while with adaptive cruise control. Not a fan of it. But to be fair hwy traffic in Detroit is probably not a good fit for it. I just turned it off.
Funny thing is, is stuff like adaptive cruise control for most manufactures are all made by the same manufacturer. You don't believe me, ask yourself how all these companies release the same tech in about the same time. A friend of mine works at one of these said manufacturers.
I believe you. There was a time when the big 3 made their own parts and electronics. Now they use outside suppliers and when the inferior part fails the auto makers take the hit.

What a beautiful picture of F150.
X Canadian - thank you for improving Canada by leaving it.
HemiV8 is all happy. A recall that doesn't involve FCA.
That's Ford and their *better ideas* for yah. Just put this thing in the dumpster where it belongs.

This just proves your ignorance. GM also uses the same system. Guesstheyneedto go I the dumpster too.
I'm sorry guys. My wife left me for my best friend because I'm inadequate in bed and she was tired of giving me rides due to my Ram truck always being worked on in the shop. I take it out on Ford because my best friend drove a Ford and she loved his truck. Please don't take my comment seriously because I'm frustrated I turned out to be such a loser in the game of life.

This is to easy to see past. The possibility of Hemi V8 having a friend let alone a wife is beyond comprehension. I can see him married to Somar though.
I noticed one thing happening constantly in this forum. RAM horde include me makes fan of competition truck. Ford horde ytres to make personal attacks, because they don't feel secure about their truck choice. Their mind knows, that ford blew it, they just can't admit that.
It was doing ale1, lowbc, crazy truck, now lmao. There is consistency and nothing is going to change. Just saying.
I don't know what you are just saying but you need to learn to write or get off the hard stuff. Like I said, you and Hemiv8 had to come from the same set of GONADS.
That's funny Gomar. I lurked for a long time, actually a few months and noticed a strong trend. Both you and Hemi had no useful information. Just pure negative unsupported bashing. It gets really old when you want to see comments and articles and have to plow threw all of this garbage that the both of you spew. If you don't like it learn to play nice and maybe everything will get back on track. Just saying..............
hemiV8 "That's Ford and their *better ideas* for yah. Just put this thing in the dumpster where it belongs."
hmm thought you said last article you don't bad mouth other brands.
curious is this the first recall for the new F150 or maybe 2nd or third (not sure but don't see the notices if they exist) that has been out for a year? GM had 3 or 4 a week when they launched, Ram i cant even count that high on their recalls, I'd say the F150 is doing pretty good wouldn't you say? In saying that I would never buy the first year of any brand when its redesigned, there is so much stuff in cars/trucks these days the odds of getting it perfect the first time is pretty small
or was that johnny doe that didnt bad mouth other brands, i mix up all the children sometimes
Ahh the complications of adding radar, and a bunch of other bells whistles and nanny override controls. All probably to eventually to become REAUIRED standard safety features and happily adding another 5Kish to the price of the vehicle (to the delight of the manufacturers). I personally haven't tried adaptive cruise yet. As a HUGE fan of cruise control I can see where I may very well become one of the dolts contributing to this irreversaible climb to higher priced and more complicated vehicles (I love backup cameras and 360cams). We all got our "stupid" things we cant "live" without (if I had a dollar for every dolt that thinks a hole in the roof to see the sky for $1K matters in a vehicle that already has almost 360 degrees of glass I would be rich). But like I said we all got our "things".
The headline for this came and went... should have stayed as the headline for days as any chevy or dodge recall would have... this isnt a small deal.. a truck breaking heavily on its own.. FOR NO REASON...seems like a big deal to me....
Then don't tail gate. Pretty simple solution when anyone hits their brakes hard on the highway. Anyone that has spent only a few miles on an expressway knows of the stupidity of people and slamming on their brakes for no reason or stopping on the highway to let someone onto the highway. Looks like Ford was on top of it and took care of it right away to. All owners have notifications of the issue so no more problems. Cannot see how it could be more of a big deal now.......................
@LMAO
That's exactly what I suggested, only funnier way. The problem is, nobody involved in the traffic expects any heavy braking, so we have to keep extra, extra distance from ford vehicles, specially trucks. This is serious safety hazard.
Just imagine, I drive bike behind ford. we both start passing slowly moving semitruck, I am ready to pass slow ford, I see nothing in front of him and then he suddenly hits the brakes heavily for no reason. They should keep ford out of the roads before they fix this problem . No excuse, no exception. I have to keep 100 yards from any ford, but some other ford might fill this gap and I have to hit my brakes again. Very annoying driving experience with fords around us.
They should ban them completely. Some incompetent waits to get someone killed again. More dangerous than VW cheating and nothing happens.
Please dear fellow codrivers, keep extra distance from ford for your own safety. Even better, don't buy any ford. Buy honda or mazda please.
FCA recalling 27,520 Dodge Darts for safety issue

Hahaha, Ford guys lost it as usually. LMAO.
Gomar, then by your standards all the recalled rams (yes there is a lot of them) should be taken off the road. Unlike this minor F150 recall that is being handled and no reported issues have been found, Fiat has injured and killed people in their recalls.
Don't worry, I hope you and Hemi are happy together. That will make me happy. In fact once your happy your post may improve.
Shifting to neutral is not as bad as hitting brakes at full force for no reason during passing.
Ford won again.

It helps to get your technology's straight Gomer. Adaptive cruise control does not slam on brakes or has an aggressive braking calibration. It slows down and will apply some brake pressure if needed. Collision avoidance systems are able to slam on the brakes.
So when semitruck starts to brake, because he is going to make right turn, Ford in the left line passing him will stop as well for no reason and hit the brakes even heavier. Awesome.
I don't want to drive behind F150. Keep them of the streets.
You still do not have a clue on any of this technology that everyone uses gomer do you. The red warning in the cluster is just that. A warning to the driver to hit their brakes. The system will not do that for you. It is up to the driver to keep control of the truck. They system warns you and will slow you down lightly. Please educate yourself prior to looking stupid in your brand bashing.
