Recall Alert: 2009-2011 Toyota Tundra

2011-toyota-tundra-recall

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 260,000 model-year 2009-11 Toyota Tundra pickup trucks, as well as 1.7 million Scion and Toyota cars, crossovers, SUVs and hybrids. For a full list of models, click here.

The Problem: The power window master switch may have been manufactured with insufficient lubricant grease. If not enough grease is applied, under certain conditions the switch may develop a short circuit that can cause the switch assembly to overheat and melt, which could produce smoke and potentially lead to a fire. This action is an expansion of a previous recall involving model-year 2007-09 vehicles for a similar problem.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the switch and apply heat-resistant grease; if the switch is not operating normally, an internal circuit board will be replaced. The work will be done for free.

What Owners Should Do: Toyota did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-331-4331 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or go to www.safercar.gov, for more info.

Did ford supply these for toyota?

uh huh: No, Ford was too busy being #1.

I always knew these Toyotas were hot items...

@Redbloodedvag being number 1 in recalls, The new Ford half tons can't outsell the GM half tons.

The GM trucks had a ton of recalls more than any other truck.

literally a hot button

GM is just a dangerous truck to drive

Yep, nobody is immune to a recall.

People are really dumb on this site. Why does every story have to have the typical Ford and GM haters post stuff that doesn't relate?

@john I just talked to a long gm owner specifically GMC 2014 truck had it 8 Months test drove a dodge even and then a ford
guess what he bought HAPPY owner of F150 he said no comparison don't need to sell the most trucks all the time
month to month but at years end ford will dominate again
quality not quantity!!!!!

Love the way the chebby fan boys say Gm half tons. They have to combine 2 different truck lines and even try to add the midsizers too. How dumb.

When it comes to the full size twins, they are made on the same assembly lines by the same company, only different in aesthetics (that means "looks" and don't tell my you knew that word, your posts make it obvious you don't) and a few options. There is a legitimate reason for GM half tons to be combined when talking about sales in general vs. other companies.

My best guess is that most of these guys here have very little to live for and have not seen a girl naked in real life.

at least they don't suffer from brake failure like the Ford ecoturds or have faulty ignition switches like the Gm crap.

@ America Bails Out Chrysler, ... might wait until Fiat merges with GM, problems solved.
Or Fiat runs out of money... after paying fines.

Had this done to my 2008 took the tech about 3 mins. May have applied a smidge of grease. I was having a new throttle installed under Toyota's "keep the customer happy" warranty, or I'd have likely not bothered.

John ...said the angry GM lover
