Recall Alert: 2016 Ram 1500
By Tom Torbjornsen
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 250 model-year 2016 Ram 1500 pickup trucks equipped with a 5.7-liter engine and dual exhaust, and manufactured between Aug. 3 and Aug. 10, 2015
The Problem: The vehicles may be missing a heat shield for the spare tire, which could result in heat from the exhaust system damaging the tire. Damage could include tread separation or a sidewall rupture, potentially causing a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash when the spare tire is used.
The Fix: Dealers will install a spare tire heat shield if the vehicle is missing one for free. Vehicles that have already been sold will also have their spare tire replaced free of charge.
What Owners Should Do: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov.

will the recalls ever end...starting to feel bad for Fiat
El Junko...
Omg 250 units the world is coming to an end.
Poor FCA.
I wonder if any Ram's will be involved in this recall:
"Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced Friday that it would recall nearly 900,000 cars worldwide — including more than 550,000 cars in the U.S. — for defective airbag and brake systems."
AGAIN??????
Well this is another fine mess Hegbloom got into. Most recalled truck of the decade. Fiat-Ram.

Maybe they where supposed to install them while they were out on their beer breaks
Hedge bloom isn't the big chief at ram anymore. He quietly got moved to an office with no windows in a back corner somewhere. My guess is cause all the garbage ram puts out.
I'm not really a brand loyal type of guy, I've owned them all, but I will say I'd buy my 2014 ran over again, it's been fantastic. Gray mileage, tight as a drum and only back to the dealer one time to fix two recalls.
They all buy cheap parts from Japan/China, it's no wonder there are recalls.... actually with only 250 being recalled, must of been the guys took an extra long break caused they had the munchies...
How close does the exhaust come to the tire that it needs a heat shield. Anything 1/2" or greater don't need a heat shield. It is not enclosed enough back there under the spare tire to trapped heat .
Does sound kinda dumb. Lots of after market exhaust pipes are routed right around the spare and have been for years.
From what I've read Lou, no trucks are included in that recall.
Why is a heat shield needed by the spare? That's either a really hot exhaust or a cheap Chinese spare tire. Seems they have factory drones that just don't give a damn. Maybe their paycheck should be linked to quality output and recalls issued. Sadly it's not. Such is the job security of a union lackey
roadram - thanks for the update. It is confined to SUV's and cars.
They should recall all of them and crush them!
Obviously Ram engineered the truck to have a heat shield for the spare tire. The sad thing is they may have not been installed on some trucks. What else may have not been installed on Ram trucks?
Good question todd. What's not installed is pride in doing the job right the first time. Quality is not job one to these factory drones. Punching the clock and getting a paycheck seems to be
It seems to me one of either two scenarios are possible.
FCA knew the heat shield was missing because the JIT supplier didn't supply.
Or, some breakdown in the process occurred.
I really do think some of those simplistic views I've read, ie, no pride in work and just punching on is that of aulone or cummins or carl, or.........................etc.
Little Lou's boy is the one.
Hemi, et al
Where are you hiding? under which rock? crawl out and defend your product!
You like to dish it out - but you can't take it - gutless hemi.
Qantas, et al
For those who hold simpleton views!
Q1. Who inspect, approve and sign documentation that the vehicle is road worthy?
A. (those dunces may claim FCA hired Ray Charles as their engineer to sign)
Q2. FCA warranty on which basis - it is granted?
A. (those pinheads may claim FCA employed Stevie Wonder to sign their documents)
Speaking of simpletons, where's your aluminum ford bashing rant bafo?
Who would of thought BAFO to be a FCA apologist.
He must be getting soft like aluminum - no anti-Ford Auntie aluminum rant.
I think the only thing he engineers is burgers for MacDonalds. IIRC they pay much higher wages in Oz so he can afford a Bt50 on burger flipper wages.
Free of charge???? Aren't all recalls on the manufacturers dime. They make it sound like they are doing the consumer a favor by making it "free"
Wow, hopefully FCA eventually awakens from the stupor.
