Ram 1500 Named Fleet Truck of the Year
By Brian Wong
The polls have closed, the results are in and congratulations are due to the Ram 1500, which beat out 40 other pickup trucks to be named the 2015 Fleet Truck of the Year by Automotive Fleet magazine.
This is the second time in the last three years that the Ram 1500 has taken this award home. The winner is determined by the readers of Automotive Fleet, which include more than 20,000 truck fleet owners and operators.
Judging criteria included application effectiveness, durability, quality and maintenance/life-cycle costs.
Bob Hegbloom, president and CEO of Ram, said in a statement that the award serves as "recognition of what we have accomplished as we continue to develop the Ram Commercial brand. Receiving an award based on such an experienced audience truly gives Ram Truck more momentum and confirms we are delivering the features most important to business owners."

Ram, the official Fleet Queen.
Hahahahahaha!!! Now we'll hear all the irrational Ford haters throwing a fit !!!
Fleet purchasers finally recognize quality and reliability of the RAM brand. It's best value for them. Something, what private buyer should consider too. Aluminium didn't cut it.
These are important sales and being cheap has its place. Also the Pentastar V6 is a viable efficient mill. Congratulations to Fiat.
FLEET buyers want QUALITY and quality is what they get from RAM 1500Tradesman Starting MSRP* $26,045!!!!!!!

What are the other 39 fleet trucks? I can think of maybe 3 others, Ford, Chevy and Toyota
"This is the second time in the last three years that the Ram 1500 has taken this award home."
This is a great day to be a RAM FLEET TRUCK buyer!
"There is little doubt, looking at the ballots, that the Ram 1500 is resonating with our readers — commercial fleet managers of the largest fleets in nation," said Sherb Brown, vice president and group publisher of Automotive Fleet magazine. "Competition in this segment is really tough, but the Ram 1500 edged out the other brands in this year's voting by delivering the capabilities fleets need for their day-to-day operations."
The winner of the Fleet Truck of the Year award is selected by readers of Automotive Fleet magazine. Those readers are comprised of more than 20,000 operators and owners of truck fleets.
"An award from Automotive Fleet magazine is recognition of what we have accomplished as we continue to develop the Ram Commercial brand," said Bob Hegbloom, Head of Ram Brand, FCA - North America. "Receiving an award based on such an experienced audience truly gives Ram Truck more momentum and confirms we are delivering the features most important to business owners."
Readers were asked to consider which models best fit their fleet requirements, including application effectiveness, durability, quality, servicing, maintenance and lifecycle costs. Forty different trucks qualified for this year's Fleet Truck of the Year ballot.

Good job, RAM!
Boy that bob is such a wit. Half-, nit-, dim-
Mark had to be cringing while writing this
Yeah, baby! Ram all the way.
I have a 20-year old '96 Ram, reliable as hell, and would never leave home without it. (Actually I couldn't... (^_^))...
==================
Ram must give these trucks away to increase cost benifit to fleets. Consumer reports year after year shows Ram at the bottom of the barrel for reliability along with their little sisters.
Hey what do yah know. A truck maker with more fully boxed frames, is wanted more as a work truck. Guess we now know why Ford is going to fully boxed frames on their HD's.
LMAO kid and Cummins must be really POed now.

SHAM !!
Ram won but with what percent of the vote? With 40 different trucks there was a lot of vote splitting going on. F-150 won it last year. Ford lost it this year with supply down. Ford will win it again next year probably. Or maybe not. Who cares? It's just a survey for cheap "Fleet Queens" like all the work truck haters and grocery getter truck buyers on PUTC like to say.
Q: So why is that truck called "Ram"?
A: Bend over and you'll find out.
Great job, Team Ram. Receiving an award based on such an experienced audience truly gives Ram Truck more momentum and confirms we are delivering the features most important to business owners.

Johnny welfare doe your GM brand was not even listed either and they have more box frames. The truck that got this was a 1500. The F150 has a boxed frame. Also the F150 was not focused on fleets this year so many went elsewhere. But as you said over and over again more fleets buy Ford so you can proceed with digesting that. The time I remember looking at these reports it was based on less the 60K miles. We do that in less than 2 years. We will keep our Ford and GM trucks please. No issues getting between 200k to 300k on those trucks with minimal cost. Of course I did have a GM 6.0L replaced at 150K. But that is neither here or there when you do the numbers.
I see mark couldn't bring himself to post this. Hahahahaha red, you so funny. I'd ask if you stayed up all night to come up with that but you probably heard someone else say it.

Ford girly men and Ford lose again!
LMAO.
Let it be written.
Here comes the "Ford supply issues"excuses, lol.
Fords are piling up, they have to really increase rebates and incentives to sell now, compared to 2014.
Here comes the "Ford got a higher transaction price per each sale of truck" excuses. Lol, the 2014 Ford F-150 base is about 1300 less then a 2015, so when you sell the most expensive truck, yeah, your transaction price tends to be highest!
Nice work Fiat.
2015 Ram is coming for your fleet sales.

And Lou, you are gonna feel THE BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also Lou, two words for you. FLEET SALES.
When it's all said and done.
There can be only one.
BANG!
It's funny when ford has big sales it's because it's a fleet queen and fleets buy it because it's cheap. Now ram wins fleet truck of the year because fleets buy on quality. So what is it ram guys.

I'm quite amazed that Ram received this gong.
I do hope this accolade does not prevent Ram from improving their products.
Good work Ram anyway for this award.
Enjoy 3rd place in total sales...while waiting for the tech to finish your recall work.
automotive fleet magazine? How many subscribers are there to automotive fleet magazine? 100?
Yeah in the past all the ram and gm guys blamed fleet sales for running the Ford numbers so high and now they are praising this award. Go figure. @johnny blowhard, did that Little Yellow STOOL BUS bring you home early today?? No I don't need to learn how to spell as this STOOL is not something you sit on and is not misspelled. You do know what STOOL is don't you johnny??? Its you.
Red is just nonstop hilarious. How do those sour grapes taste?
Bout as many subscribers as green car journal. Maybe a couple more. I do realize fleet sales are based on lowest bid so I'm not jumping up and down about this.
You fanboys continue to toss your grenades until mark posts another ford article for you to wet yourselves over
@Johnnie doe
And your ignorance continues.
Well, as a person who makes their living selling ACDelco, Motorcraft, Mopar and quality aftermarket parts to dealers (new and used), independent repair shops and fleets that maintain their own vehicles....
If more Ram trucks end up in fleet use it will increase my paycheck because they typically need even more parts than the average Ford fleet trucks.
I make good money on my Ford fleets. So far, only one of them has bought any Rams and they are having second thoughts...
My GM fleets don't need as many parts and none of them have purchased any Rams.
"I'm quite amazed that Ram received this gong."
there used to be a game show called The Gong Show.
FCA deserves "the gong".
Google it.
I wonder what kind of fleets use Ram 1500? Maybe fluff work that was lost when the Ranger was killed off.
In my part of the world where fleet trucks get run hard, no one uses Ram 1500 in any true fleet volumes. I see the odd one.
This past weekend I had some overload leaf springs installed so that my Silverado would be capable of hauling a small Christmas tree home.
The truck still sagged a bit, but it's better than nothing.
Gotta love GM trucks.
Dont see a whole lotta Rams around here in the work force but congrats to them.

40.
Maybe they're counting some vans and suv's as trucks?
But then they said "pick up trucks"
Don't know if this counts as fleet use but the game wardens around here use Dodge trucks. Some parishes use em. Houston police has some. Was in Austin today. City trucks that I saw was maybe 80% ford, Chevy filled the rest. Loves truck stops are replacing their sd's with Chevy hd's. Fleet sales are transient.
This means absolutely nothing. Until they sell the most fleet trucks, this really means nothing.
This is an exciting story and award.
Funny thing, I noticed 2016 F-150 EPA mileage ratings are not as optimistic is 2015.
Hmmmmm....
Kudos to Ford for doing MPG by weight ratings and gears now. They are the only ones now.
In the words of Hemi V8, looks like Ram #'s don't mean jack now.
RAM IS ALL OUT OF MAGIC SPRING DUST! LOL
NO GUTS
NO GLORY
As Hemi V8 once said, I saw this one coming. This will definitely affect sales. This new FUEL ECONOMY rating is taboo in Raminstan. I think, and I have said this before, Ram's boasted fuel economy #'s have made them #1 in fuel economy. Things are about to change. I am I fan of this new efficiency criteria. Take it out of the hands of the one size fits all EPA #'s. Ford is making it better for everyone. They all may have to build a better truck now thanks to Ford.
I think the EPA must have probably frowned on them and said you really need to re-rate that stuff there Ford.
RAM is #1 fleet truck for several reasons. The 1500 long bed is the truck capable of getting the most work done for the least money. I would buy it.
I like the new F150 more but business is business.
I work for the DOT. We just got two new ram 1500 reg cab lwb 4x4 replaced two Silverado 1500. We have a Chevy Colorado with 151,345 miles the biggest problems with this truck has been breaks, abs, and overheating, then we have a 07 Silverado with 140,224 miles on it. lifters has been replaced once still making a knocking sound. Transmission Replaced a whole list of abs problems. Heater blower replaced twice. And the worst trucks we have that stay broke down believe it or not is the three f250s a small box truck, a mechanics truck , and a flat bed these trucks have not been treated badly just basic highway work. I've been there for ten years and we always got Chevy, ford, and dodges trucks, never not one time have I seen a tundra or a Titan in any of our fleet in any of our districts.
I work for the DOT. We have aging fleet that we were replacing. four 06 silverado. All close to 140,000 miles. They do ride good but all have shared the same problems. Breaks, rotors, abs, transmission replacement, lifter replacement, fuel pump, driveline replacement for corrosion. Heater blowers replaced numerous times. Also have a 07 Colorado4x4 abs problems, and been to the shop numerous times for overheating, also heater blower replaced. We have three f250s that are just as bad with less miles in fact they just replaced one with a new Silverado 2500hd. We also got two new ram 1500 hemi 4x4s the foreman and sub foreman really like the Rams so far. being there for 10 years I have never seen them buy a tundra or a Titan in any District. For highway work.
