Chevrolet Expands 2016 Midnight Edition Across Pickup Lineup
Chevrolet is expanding its popular Midnight Edition to include all three of its pickups: the midsize Colorado, the half-ton Silverado 1500 and the Silverado 2500 Heavy Duty. All three can be seen for the first time at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show.
The Midnight trim package was one of the fastest-selling packages for the Silverado 1500 in 2015, Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet truck marketing director, said in a statement. It was such a runaway success that Chevy decided to offer the package on the 2500 model, also with great success. With the addition of the Colorado, the set is complete.
The Midnight package requires the pickup to have the Z71 Off-Road Package, but also adds special decals, a locking rear differential, extra skid plating, Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, black alloy wheels, spray-in bedliner, blackout bow ties on the grille and tailgate, and body-colored grille and bumpers.
The Midnight Edition joins the growing number of Chevy special editions, which includes the Silverado 1500 Special Ops, the Silverado 1500 Realtree and the Colorado Z71 Trail Boss. You can expect Chevy to continue to offer this mix-and-match special-edition strategy to provide more narrowly targeted trim packages to full-size and midsize truck customers who want something unique.
Expect more GM announcements about additional special editions later this year.

What is it with these blacked out pickups?
Like all things in life ie, ying/yang, right/wrong, positive/negative, male/female (this can alter for Ford fans), etc. Black must be used with chrome and other shiny bits of silver metal.
This pickup needs polished alloy accents on the rims. GM have a look at the Rebel PowerWagon to get an idea.
Mirrors require some tasteful chrome adornment, door handle should be chrome. Chrome accents on the grille. And who the hell makes a pickup without a chrome rear step bumper????
This is an abortion and tastelessly looking vehicle.
Where is the chrome to offset the mountains of black!!!!!
@Big Al--dude, it's called monochrome, i.e., no chrome, pardon the pun.
And did you REALLY just suggest that GM look to RAM for styling cues? The RAM trucks are stuck in the 1990s for their last real styling make-over, 1994 or so.
papajim,
Go back and re-read what I wrote regarding using Ram styling ques.
Then go and read up what I wrote regarding Ram styling in the Ram article.
Hmmmmmmmmm ........ you really can't be that fncking dumb. Can you?
@ Big Al if you lived in the US you would know that alot of people black out there trucks no matter what brand or year, so why cant the manufacture offer a factory look that people were going to do anyway with plasti dip, vinal and or paint?
I like this styling, looks way better than the mountain of girly chrome most pickups are drenched in.
Because at Chevy "Black trucks matter"...
Especially since they cant/don't/wont build anything nearly as substantial as a Rebel, Power Wagon or Raptor.
Babies love their binkies the way chevy boys love these pepboys packages. So its stickers, wheels, and black for the GovMotors boys and that's fine because that seems to be what they can handle/like.
Local dealer had one on the lot(still is), it said the midnight addition, but nobody prepped it. Still had the steel wheels and silver emblems, but a $2.5 k option added to the bottom line. Salesman came out and I pointed this out to him. he had no clue why it was on the sales lot like that...give me some chrome
Clint. They just added this midnight trim last year. Guess what Chevy gain the most market share while Ford lost the most last year. So seems to me all you Ford kids switching over love the Blacked out look GM trucks better then a Rebel, Power Wagon or Raptor. LMBO!
The younger buyers of these trucks seem to gravitate towards these blacked out color schemes. I much prefer a little chrome on my truck. Having said that, I have seen a midnight edition silverado and it does look mean. I beginning to see the appeal.
Under the cover of night
She crawls into sight
Her skin is cold china white
She's a dark angel wearing dark glasses
Dark shadows under long false lashes
The night exposes the cracks
She wears her makeup like wax
To hide every scratch
'Cause she a dark angel riding dark horses
Sitting pretty in her dim lit covers... I say
Black cars look better in the shade
On this I agree with papa jim that this model is more about the monochrome look and less about black trim. Monochrome look has been popular with those who customize vehicles for a number of years. Not my thing but if GM can make a profit on this trim package and make money then this is a good decision.
GM is really the least innovative company in history, they just copy everyone and make products that kill their own buyers. These "midnight" editions are complete copies of Ram's Black Express, which came out in 2011.
"Guess what Chevy gain the most market share while Ford lost the most last year."
Typical Johnny doe with his kindergarten grammar.
I'll speak in a language you can understand:
CHEVY gain most market share because CHEVY give larger incentives while Ford sell trucks at premium. Got that Johnny, CHEVY sell vehicles for chump change to gain share.
Sure they did GMISTRASH, I guess GM made record breaking profits by sell trucks with large incentives. Go light up another one LOL!!

Patriotgrunt How is that over priced Ford Alcoa glued on recycled beer can China made aluminum body working? From the sales data, it looks like it is working as well as the V6's that suck more fuel then a 6.0L V8 LMBO.

HAHA, not to bad considering General Mistake is throwing 10K on the hood to sell their trucks and Ford is out selling every brand of truck individualy with a few grand in incentives. I guess people are drawn to the cheapest price. Of course no body cares for reliability anymore since the majority of new car purchases are leases. General Mistake has been leading the cash on the hood sales tactic for a long time. In fact I think they are still offering 20% off on their cars. I guess they feel no one will buy them at MSRP.
You would have to be retarded not to by a GM or RAM. You get steel, with a real V8, and for the most part better MPG, HP, AND TQ. You can put a load in the bed of any RAM or GM truck with out the bumper sitting on the ground. Market share change seems to say everyone is tired of over paying for Ford trash.

And there is your 4th grade education again welfare doe. If you want a Ford V8, get the 5.0L. It has no problem against the fiat 1500 5.7 in work and MPG. Same goes for the 5.3 General Mistake. Market share does not show anything where more people are not buying Ford. In fact more people are buying Ford than in years past. But General Mistake seems to want to devalue their stuff buy offering huge discounts that people like. Sorry but even GM believes their trucks are worth less.
Fyi, last I seen CR ranks Ford reliability over Chevy and fiat. Rather hard to say junk when they outlast your preferred brand.
Never trust anyone over 40 that still drives a ford. The're idiots and beyond reason.
Yeah right lmao ford clown. That's why even Ford techs won't buy Ford trucks even.
