Recall Alert: 2015-2016 Chevrolet/GMC 2500/3500

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 recall

Vehicles Affected: GM is recalling an unspecified number of model-year 2015-16 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 and GMC Sierra 2500/3500 pickup trucks; they are part of a larger recall involving approximately 426,500 GM vehicles.

The Problem: In the affected pickups, the brake pedal pivot nut may become loose and cause the brake pedal to fail, increasing the risk of a crash. GM says there have been no reports of crashes or injuries due to this issue.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect the pivot bolt to determine if the vehicle was fixed during production; if it wasn't dealers will add adhesive to the nut and reinstall it free of charge.

What Owners Should Do: GM has not yet released an owner identification schedule. Owners should call Chevrolet at 800-222-1020 for more information.

apart from that Dream-sicle paint job, that is one beautiful damn truck.

Pretty specific numbers on the news.

Hmm, link didn't show. Ctv news says 473 000 trucks and suv's.
46 800 in Canada.

Where are all the GM fan boys today? Johnny Duh, and GMnotsogreat, taking a day off to watch cartoons and eat spaghettios.

This is significant problem.

"Gluing" as it has be termed by a person is a good way to ensure the nut doesn't come undone in the future.

Modern adhesives are getting better everyday.

Nice looking truck, if you like square wheel wells and a fat lip bumper. LOL

Wow!! First ignition problems involving DEATH and now the brake pedal comes lose. Get more glue boys!! How sad and dangerous can this company get??

I don't like GovMotors at all but this is not a big deal. Recalls happen and unlike their ignition disaster this one at least is being handled in the manner it should. 0 injuries, 0 deaths, a lot of trucks for something small like this but the recall is voluntary and as long as they track the vehicles fixed/inspected and fix it right the first time (all unlike the ignition disaster) recalls of this nature do happen.

NOW I see where the name GM comes from. Glue 'M nuts on boys!

GEE-EM GEE-UNK !!

HAHAHA!!!!!

I'm just surprised people had no idea that locate and other adhesives are used on vehicles.

Sometimes it's either that or a self locking nut.

Fords transmission upgrade is not a recall. Check your facts you piece of garbage.

Its called loctite. Get a clue Sometimes i wonder if some the people on hear should even be operating a computer let alone motor vehicle.

Hell fords new f150 has body panels glued together but oh no gm used loctite.

Adhesives are a critical component of just about everything everyone owns, sees, touches, and is made. From spacecraft to bicycles from insane multi component epoxies to med grad threadlocker its unavoidable.

A big deal out of a dab of locktite on a pedal nut seems small when you are sitting in an aircraft doing 400mpg at 50K feet that's largely held together with adhesive.

Don't see why the Ford boys are all upset over GM using glue to hold a nut from backing off a bolt. I rather that then glue holding the whole outside of my truck together LMBO!

See. Everyone has their issues.... To all the fanbois no matter the stripe should just be glad these things are getting fixed... ahh who am I kidding... The same crap will go on here......

At least it was caught early enough. You have to wonder why something like a lock nut was not used in the beginning. By the sounds of the recall it was found at the dealership level with complaints of loose brake pedals. At least the engineers are looking at these things and getting them resolved.

Recall notices should automatically have the comments section closed.

I read your post titled "Recall Alert: 2015-2016 Chevrolet/GMC 2500/3500". GM is recalling an unspecified number of model-year 2015-16 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 and GMC Sierra 2500/3500 pickup trucks; they are part of a larger recall involving approximately 426,500 GM vehicles.

There must be a lot of Dodge and Ford fans watching the GM sites. Let's see. Dodge has crap transmissions behind a cummins engine, oh yes, lets not forget the rear end recall on their 1/2 ton truck my dad had on his which the dealer told him was too dangerous to drive down the interstate, yet let him drive it home. Among the other issues Dodge has.
And let not fotget you Found on road dead ford fans. They got rid of the only good 7.3 liter diesel years ago which was dependable, had power, and got good fuel milage. The problem was that they were keeping their trucks instead of trading them in for new ones so ford decided to replace it with the CRAP 6 liter diesel. I know a service tech who payed the morgage on his house from the constant repairs being made to thoes trucks.
GM FAN........ DARN RIGHT!!

Ok...... How many of you Ford and Dodge mechanics put your crap together without the use of licktite adhesive?
