2017 Nissan Titan Half-Ton Video
Posted by Mark Williams | March 31, 2016
We had our first chance to see the all-new 2017 Nissan Titan half-ton at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, where we took the opportunity to take a close look inside and underneath. The new pickup will be smaller than the 2016 Nissan Titan XD, but it has many of the same exterior design details and interior look and feel. We won't see this new heart-of-the-market competitor until later this fall, but from what we've seen it will cut into somebody's marketshare.

I have to admit, this will steal a lot of F-150 sales from Ford.
@GMSGREAT: Don't underestimate brand loyalty.
I think it'll flop. It's over priced. It's unproven. And it's not going to win with the brand loyalty guys.
Over and over and over again for the last 25 years Toyota and Nissan have underestimated brand loyalty for full size pickup trucks.
The XD is a joke. This version has better potential IF they price it correctly.
@ Captain Critical, Gmsrgreat doesnt not know what brand loyalty is, remember, he bashes ford but will never say how great gms are.......
This new Titan will cut into Silverado sales in a big way, especially with the news of the "Chevy shake" for which there is apparently no fix.
Wow, just read about "Chevy shake", bummer.

Seriously? Re-read my posting name. Does your Ford have those brilliant rear bumper corner steps which kept vehicle weight the same and possibly even lowered it ? The Ford man step engineers are now constantly slapping each others heads and saying to themselves, duh, why did we make such a heavy complicated step. No wonder Ford had to go to aluminum construction when they are obviously not that innovative.
Why does everyone always call a halftons smaller then their HD counterpart when the only difference is height.
Why does everyone always call a halftons smaller then their HD counterpart when the only difference is height.
because its cars.com aaron bragham who is a car guy and knows nothing about trucks. i hope he starts taking his health more seriously!
The manstep is awesome much better for use with the tailgate is down...
When the tailgate is up the GM corner holes are no better than the good old step already in the "step bumper"...
Well since Ford is the sales leader in full size truck as usual they have the most at risk/to lose. Since Toyota and Nissan don't even count on full size truck profits to stay alive at all they have almost nothing to lose and the most to gain in the full size truck world. Fiat and Gov motors fall inbetween.
Just as in 03 (when it was advanced then) the TItan will take customers away from the Big 3 minus 1 who unlike someone with mindless loyalty will buy an alternative brand based on a negative experience with his last choice. Considering that there have been people getting burned by the Big 3-1 for a very long time that's not a small crowd and Titan and Tundra have been subsiding on it.
Since 03 every Titan and Tundra sold used to be a Ford, GMC, Chevy, or Fiat. It would be safe to say at this point that the distribution of lost sales hasn't had any real impact on the sales ranking over the last decade. With that being true its safe to say any impact the new Titan has will be pretty evenly distributed just as it was for the 03 Titan and the Tundra.
The new Titan will sell better than the last one... I mean really what wouldn't? And if Nissan doesn't take almost a decade and a half to update/redesign this one and keeps it relevant and skillfully evolving they may start to see respectable sales numbers. But don't look for them to slide into #1 or change who is number 1,2 or 3 in sales in the next 10 years or so.
The current contenders also continue to evolve and advance. And short of a MASSIVE mistake/misstep don't expect MASSIVE changes in the sales rankings.
This will not steal sales from Ford, nobody cross shops a Nissan and a Ford. Nissan owners cross shop GM/RAM because both are unreliable and in the gutter.
Nissan had to copy Ford Door Panels, window seals, Rear Tail Lights.
The saying goes. IF YOU CAN'T BEAT THEM, COPY THEM.
Chevy Shake, what an utter P.O.S
I've seen a few Titan XD's on the road already. They look pretty good in real life.
I suspect that the Cummins Titan will hurt Ram the most since there are a lot of Cummins fans out there that have had dismal experiences with Ram.
To Frank:
Its funny how you only state the items Nissan borrowed from Ford. What about looking at it the other way around? Before the Titan, a bed was just a bed:
1. Soft down tailgate
2. Factory Spray in Bedliner
3. Bed Rail Cargo Management
4. King Cab Wide 180 Degree Opening (Ford now offers 170 Degree)
So whats your saying about this? Its guys like you who the Big 3 will continue selling to. Regardless of whats better out there, you'll keep your blinders on as long as it has the right badge on it. You seem to think the auto makers dont know and capitalize on this fact. I was taught not to be a sheep, it sounds like you are more then happy being one.
if people are smart, they will stay away from the titan. I would SELL this truck ASAP if they were to give me one. google nissan titan cracked exhaust manifold. google nissan titan rear end problems. Nissan's customer service is a joke. read these customer postings at consumeraffairs.com: https://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/nissan_titan.html
I predict 500 units of sales for the XD, yearly.
I had my 05 Totan for nine years and the only issue it ever had was the cracked manifolds fixed under warranty. Thier are a lot of people with 300k and more on the Endurance v8's. Can't say you will see that out of a GM or Ford because you won't.
Blah, blah, blah JIM

While your at it, Google ford 5.4 cracked exhaust manifold and Ford rear end / axle problems. Yeah, I thought so.

Oh please tell me you are not that stupid. Well of course you are, you are a trailer park queen. GM 6.0L, 8.1L 7.4L, 5.3L all have thever same issue with bad exhaust manifolds. None of our GM V8 have the original exhaust manifolds. My buddy works for UPS and he is constantly replacing the 4.8L and 6.0L exhaust manifolds in the gas trucks. You really are just a complete tool without a clue.
Yep my F150 has always had a step bumper. Right there in front of the tag. let the tailgate down and then Fords tailgate step comes in to play. Chebbys side bumper steps are useless. Chebby ate massive crow with that deal. They will eat more when they go to aluminum. Its coming fangirls so might as well get your taste buds ready. I think you'll be eating a lot more than CROW though!!
Blah, blah, blah,

@gmsnotsogreat, Hey how did you know Frank has a brother???
@fedup, the Chevy sidesteps are way more functional. You have to open the frreeking tailgate then pull the step out to use it on the Ford. It's a sales gimmick
I actually like the look of the old titan way better then this...god what an ugly truck. the front end has that beavis- butthead forehead look to it.
I see ford and ram in the truck but like the worst of it? is that possible?
Older titan was fresh,different....this is just to copy cat cookie cutter.
I like Nissan but the older truck looked 1000 percent better then this...could have the best drivetrain, ride and capability but I'd puke having to look at it everyday.

SOOOOOOOO, it is safer to step in the tiny bumper cutout with your work boot that barely fits and then step and balance yourself on the small bumper or then to straddle your leg over the closed tailgate to get in? I wish gmsrgreat could demonstrate his old fat out of shape body doing that. Now that I would love to see. One leg lift and his incontinence would kick in and the corn from last night would be spraying out. Unless he decided to wear his gm logoed depends for the show.
Sure in some cases the Ford step does not work well and neither does the gm step. Both have good and bad points.

The GM bumper side steps works better, tailgate up or down. Let's see the FORD man step work with the tailgate up. HAHA! I'm sure you will try and prove me wrong. Make sure you video tape it. HAHAHA.............LMAO............HAHAHA
I agree with most of what clint said. Also agree that the old titan looked better. The body looks like a mix of ford and ram. The front end is unique but not in a good way. Definitely the beavis and butthead mention is accurate. I think the half ton will do ok, but there is no doubt in my mind the XD is a flop. I still haven't seen one in person and don't expect to anytime soon. And where I live there is a truck in probably 5 out of 6 driveways.
Let's see your video trailerparksrgreat. I would love to see you blow excrement in your diapers on YouTube while you step over your tailgate.
The powertrain is what is really missing to me. The truck seems fine, but the powertrain is far from exciting. Kind of like the old titan. The diesel is disappointing for a diesel, the gas is probably going to be a hog on fuel but otherwise reliable. Ram has a diesel that is exciting because it gets great mileage. Ford has the super-quick twin turbo engines. GM has the amazingly efficient yet powerful big V8. GM and Ford have the exciting new 10 speeds and ram has a great 8 speed. Without an exciting powertrain Nissan is going to have a really hard time stealing sales. The truck itself seems nice enough.
I should say the 10 speeds aren't here yet, but will be within the next year.
@WXman. In reference to your statement "it will flop...... Titan XD is a joke." I would like to know what you are basing that assumption off of. As a dealership employee and I would like to hear "the word on the street" about this truck. Thanks

Hey man, try and keep your comments focused towards the trucks. I know you like to attach the commenter when you find yourself on the wrong side of a topic or debate.
Attack the commenter
@jim, never had a problem using my step bumper on my Ford. Let the tailgate down and there's a step and handle for me to use. Those stepsides get really slick in wet weather. Got to be careful using any of them but from my experience Ford does it best. Always have.
At least the Chevy bumper steps are free, last time I looked the ford tailgate step handle cost extra!

You start trailerparksrgreat. You always start on your post as antiford bashing. In fact I have yet to see anything remotely technically accurate come from you. Come to think about it, you really do not post anything great about your favorite brand through complete blind loyalty. It is a shamed your such a blind sheep.
a shame

It should be, you are not getting anything but a huge hole to collect dirt and mud to clean out.
@LMAO : rear bumper side steps, magnetic ride, heads up displays, stabilitrac, built in WiFi, automatic headlamp standard equipment, duramax, . Just a short list of firsts and segment changing offerings from the leader, GM.
The ford will always break
Or you can do the Chevy shake
while the Toyota is a fake
only the Nissan takes the cake
Enjoy the ride
LMAO : rear bumper side steps-----who cares. Just step on the bumper. More gm propaganda.
magnetic ride, yet I have seen 2 not so good reviews in major car review magazines. I posted them just yesterday for you.
heads up displays----- used them and hate them. Don't want it or care about it. Who cares.
stabilitrac---everybody has there own version of vehicle dynamics. GM version was behind Ford for a while and finally caught up.
built in WiFi---- Dumbest thing from GM yet. In order for it to work you have to have a data subscription for it to work. Ford uses their system as a hotspot. Use your phone as the wifi device and no extra cost to the user. GM BS gimmick.
automatic headlamp standard equipment-- not on some of the GM products I sent out to bid.
duramax--- great engine, still has its own issues with the rest of the new emissions diesels.

Sorry loser, your still a putz.
GMSRGREAT, why can't you ever stay on topic. You are getting annoying.
Hey trailerparksrgreat, how long did it take GM to copy Ford and Rams trailer sway control?
Sure would have been nice to actually talk about this truck. Instead GMSRGREAT just takes another article to his own hate bash. Maybe you can stay away from all article unless it pertains to GM. What do you think GMSRGREAT?
I think RAM made a huge move in the right direction not accepting then Nissan Cummins. This diesel is not good for a half ton or 3/4 ton. Ram diesel in the 1/2 ton at least provides decent economy and seems well suited to the 1/2 ton. The 6.7 cummins gets better fuel and power in the 3/4 ton ram.
I cant wait to see once ford and gm put diesels in their trucks.
All the hype of the new Nissan and I see absolutely nothing game changing at all...if anything they are not competing against older designed trucks and the big three seem to offer way better advantages and costs.... I think this will flop.
Can't see the rumors of Tundra wanting this Cummins in their tundra...
@ Nissan guy : I have talked about this truck in the past and even praised it on occasion, I have never knocked it. In fact I opened the comments section on a positive note. If your really a Nissan guy, you should appreciate that . Ask all your FORD commenters to talk about your Nissan with you and see how that works for ya.
Sorry GMSRGREAT, I do not agree with your claims. Almost all articles you lead off track with your Ford biased comments. Please leave them out of these articles that has nothing to do with Ford or GM.
