Recall Alert: 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon
Vehicles Affected: Model-year 2016 Chevrolet Colorado pickup trucks manufactured between Jan. 19 and Feb. 2, 2016, and GMC Canyon pickups manufactured between Jan. 21 and Feb. 4, 2016; model-year 2016 Chevrolet Malibu sedans are also included in the approximately 1,600 recalled vehicles
The Problem: The driver frontal airbag may improperly inflate during second-stage deployment in a high-speed crash, increasing the risk of an injury.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the driver-side frontal airbag module for free.
What Owners Should Do: GM did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, GMC at 800-462-8782, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info.

Sooo... Even though I'm Ford driver, not going to bash GM because all mfg have issues.
What I really like is the fact that most oem's get this info out now really fast.No more burying it.I'm not brand loyal so as long as the oems bring the recalls to light,I'm happy with it.
Hopefully it isn't another Takata air bag issue. Takata has had too many issues to remain a going concern.
I don't like this fighting between FORD and GM for the most recalls in shortest period.
Why do you keep RAM out of it ?
Get a Tacoma.

RAM is greedy. They want to wait till their body counts get high enough or they get caught again.
Just what I figured. A continuation of the stop build from 2 weeks ago.
it's a new model, we expected a few minor problems of Motor Trends Truck Of The Year
We didn't have air bag before and the truck was not buil like today ,,,today it's a big deal if a companies have airbag recall,,
lou dc, yeah expect plenty of problems because its a new model. What if it was a Ford?? would your comments be the same??
31 rail road cars full of Colorado's and/or Canyon's just went buy my house. Happens several times a day.

Rico Suave, what a loser.
There is obviously nothing to talk about when the dreaded recalls come out and its news worthy......I agree with grnzel1, although I have no loyalty to any of them, not going to bash them for a recall, like they would for Ford.....
A small caught in house and as long as its handled properly and the first time no big deal recall.
How many more, how many more?
Well, at least they fixed their ignition switch module so the airbag will inflate...
Another example of GM being quick in responding to defects in a system which is only a supplementary safety system. Other manufactures are dragging their heels in responding to defects in mandatory vehicle safety systems like.........I don't know .......... like BRAKES!
All the companies have issues with suppliers, but this is ridiculous they have now 6 recalls or more in such a short time.
They should of tested the truck before launching it.
It could of used a torture test to work out the kinks.
Gm is using their customers as guinea pigs .

@David read the actual NHTSA filing and get educated: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/UCM499177/RCLRPT-16V125-9868.PDF This particular defect didn't begin with the first trucks off the line in 2015. Not a lack of testing issue. The airbag supplier (Key Safety Systems, Florida) missed loading a chemical enhancer in a batch of airbags. Maybe GM needs to pick a better supplier?
How long is this going to slow production down? Waiting on order
Wow GovMSRGREAT... you are spin Dr... dragging ones feet...
How many KILLED by an ignition spring so far?
