2016 Ford F-150 Special Service Package Now Available

F150_SSV_34 II

In order to provide for the largest, most demanding fleet buyers in the country — federal, state and local governments along with law enforcement agencies — Ford is announcing the introduction of the latest Special Service Vehicle Package for model-year 2016 F-150s. The last time Ford first promoted the SSV Package for the F-150 was in 2012.

The new SSV F-150 option package will be available in both 4x4 and 4x2 drivetrains, with a choice of either the SuperCrew or SuperCab configuration. As you might expect for a vehicle likely to see punishing duty cycles, this package includes long-wearing and easy-to-clean vinyl seats and flooring, a high-output 240-amp alternator (necessary for extended idling times) and a center console delete option to allow for more space or customization.

Ford already offers SSV or Interceptor packages for the Explorer and Expedition SUVs, and it even offers a full-size SSV Transit Prisoner Transport van for law enforcement and correctional facilities. In fact, the Ford Explorer Interceptor is the best-selling police vehicle in the country.

The SSV F-150 can be ordered with the 5.0-liter V-8 engine or the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost; all SSV pickups are available in the no-nonsense XL trim level. Both Ram and Chevrolet offer special police packages as well.

Very Nice!!

The poor canine looks like he already misses the Suburban canine vehicle he was previously assigned to. Wouldn't you?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to have a cab/chassis Colorado/Canyon with a purpose built back to do this?

You would still have enough room for a Paddy Wagon to manage the criminal elements as well.

Denver, room may be an issue. I have talked to many state hwy patrol and they hate the chargers because of no room inside. A full sized truck or suburban offers a lot more room inside for gear and equipment.

yeah, and alot more fuel too!

Military grade for our troops and for everyone in uniform! Love it.

Plus it's good to have 5 star crash rating for safety, something that you can't get with Chevy or Ram trucks. LOL

Chevy's have a 5 star crash rating. What planet are you from?

Really? chevy does?

If you wanted to be consistent you would call for law enforcement and other government agencies to use the same small minivans like the Transit Connect that you claim contractors "need" instead of traditional trucks.

Show me the article were 2016 Chevy with 5 star crash rating?

From last week PickupTrucks News

http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2016/04/iihs-testing-has-truckmakers-scrambling-to-respond.html

Blueman, stop replyin to people who have no clue.....he is sucking you in, again these guys will never show you or even tell you their opinion on their GM trucks, they are only here to bash others, because their trucks are so behind the 8 ball they have nothing to say.

Well, they need 5 star crash rating, because you never know, if the brakes master cylinder is gonna work or not. I wouldn't feel comfortable to see any F150 tailgating my truck. I'd rather move aside. That's what I do lately.

Or that Ram truck gets loaded up on a rollback while your sucking down a donut. Recalled and bought back.

^^^^^ You don't have to worry about an F150 behind you. F150's are always in front and your trying to catch up.

I'd rather move aside. That's what I do lately.

Posted by: RAM | Apr 19, 2016 10:28:43 AM

That's because you drive an underpowered pos. Heck, you even had to add airbags to the suspension to prevent the truck from dragging down the road carrying your fat back side.

Hahaha. You made my day to pizz you of. Let me know, when they replace all the master cylinders, then I will drive in front of f150 as long as I want, because you cant use your power braking at HWY speeds, but I still have to be careful not to park it closer than 100' , because it might catch a fire randomly.
It's good practice to stay away from f150 police car on the HWY and parking lot as well.
I am happy ford horde has something to talk about, because Smart Suspension is not a topic , they could grasp on anything.

Ford is sucking up these extremely profitable fleet sales. Huge money made on them. Heck a gm town that had laws on the books to buy only gm's switched to fords recently. Police demand better vehicles and that is what they are getting with ford.
http://www.autonews.com/article/20160222/OEM01/302229971/ford-nabs-gm-towns-police-cruiser-contract

yeah 35 ford trucks had an issue with the master cylinder....

FIAT/RAM 105 million dollar fine ...largest in auto history levied against them!

1.4 BILLION in damages for FIAT to buy back vehicles!

Sergio circle jerking his way around GM,Toyota,VW and other brands looking for a merger....getting told to take a hike!

FIAT /RAM more innovation and problems that our dealer and us cannot fix.

Ram truck...worst brand for safety and least reliable of all the truck brands.

At least FORD and GM care about their customers unlike the Italian brand!

Well, they need 5 star crash rating, because you never know, if the brakes master cylinder is gonna work or not. I wouldn't feel comfortable to see any F150 tailgating my truck. I'd rather move aside. That's what I do lately.

The only thing tailgating your fat butt will be a F150 Coptruck pulling you over for littering the HYW with loose parts coming off that POS Ram Truck. LOL

RAM is not investigate by NHTSA like ford is for defective Master cylinder failings.

@ Blueman :

The 2016 Ford F-150 also is one of three half-ton pickups to receive the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's highest rating of five stars in overall scoring as well as in other crash tests in all cab configurations. The other two are the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. We'll have more on this important safety subject and we reach out to the different pickup truck makers who did not score well.

No turd rammer, nhtsa is already balls deep in them right now.

People, organizations and towns make poor decisions when strapped for cash.

So lets see:

F-150 - Master cylinder, auto braking glitches, air bag sensor
GM 1500s - GM Shake
Ram 1500 - Electric power steering
Tundra - Supercharger air-flow issues

Seems like all have issues, some more intense and dangerous to other drivers. I'd wager to say the supercharger issue is the least threatening, followed by the GM shake, Ram EPS and the Ford issues.

You can't let a Ford tailgate you or tailgate them. They may not stop, or the truck might brake check you on accident.

RAM is not investigate by NHTSA like ford is for defective Master cylinder failings.

Fords may have defective master cylinders, But I wonder what company has to buy back there POS trucks for the last 8 years or so? LOL

I'm looking at the safety chart an I see 7 green lights boxes beside F150 and only 4 green lights boxes beside Chevy/GMC trucks. LOL

you ford guys are a Joke... apparently you are not aware, as most ford fans are oblivious to facts.. that the NHTSA and IIHS are two completely different organizations...

Hey, Chevy still has a 5 star crash rating.

@blueman
FCA doesn't have to buy them all back. It all depends what customer wants to do. If he wants to keep it, he can get it fix and keep it. I would like to know, how many really FCA bought back. So it's not like it's unfixable. FCA will buy them back, fix it and sell it then.

Ford Pinto is another story.

They shoot horses, don't they? Well, this is fish in a barrel. Of course the Pinto goes on the Worst list, but not because it was a particularly bad car — not particularly — but because it had a rather volatile nature. The car tended to erupt in flame in rear-end collisions. The Pinto is at the end of one of autodom's most notorious paper trails, the Ford Pinto memo , which ruthlessly calculates the cost of reinforcing the rear end ($121 million) versus the potential payout to victims ($50 million). Conclusion? Let 'em burn.

That's how ford took care of their customers.

Sad you have to go back over 40yrs to find something. What year and what day is it where your at??

Didn't some Jeeps burst into flames when hit in the rear too? Seems like fiat didn't want to hear that one either??

Fiat has nothing to do with that , but fine USA engineering. Ford, Jeep and RAM . All engineered in the USA . You are not realizing , that you blame your own engineers for failures . Keep posting your other failures. LOL.

Needs more Raptor SSV.

Chrysler did. This was not that long ago either. Put down USA engineering if you want but don't bring up stuff until your own backyard is cleaned up first.

@Fed up
Really ? Why do you put down FIAT ? You know nothing about FIAT and you constantly bash them , even they have nothing to do with Ford, RAM and Jeep engineering and past problems USA engineers produced. No one else. So clean your backyard first bro, because I will always ask. Which engineer designed that last piece of marvel . And it's not going to be FIAT, but some of USA engineers. Even in Toyota, Nissan and GM.

You put down USA engineering, by constantly bashing them left and right. Not me. I just happened to be one of the USA engineered truck driver. It's RAM, engineered by USA engineers. Not FIAT. You should appreciate that.

Fiat has to pay $150 million for 4yr old boy dead in jeep fire!

wow interesting read to say the least. Fiat is digging themselves a grave never mind a hole.

many insiders predict the FCA is spiraling out of control and could be done by 2018.

I can see it...the 1.4 billion dollar buy back or repair, the 105 million dollar fine, now more fines and huge lawsuits...then there is a class action lawsuit against jeep..... wow a world of hurt is coming for this crap auto maker!

FORD OUT PULLS HEMI RAM WITH OLD ENGINE,THANK GOD THEY DIDN"T USE THE ECOBOOST AS IT MIGHT HAVE PULLED THE FRAME OFF THAT WIMPY RAM!

@Fedup
You are sick, bashing USA engineers constantly.

@canadianthoughts
I agree with you . Poor USA engineering. FIAT needs to step in.
One customer told me ,they know to make just bombs, but I disagree with him. Third pounder from McDonald is pretty good too. I might buy a Mercedes. Getting sick of this USA pos.

Police aren't stupid, they want MILITARY GRADE!!!!! Way to go ford. Once again leading the way. They won't need to put bullet proof panels in the doors, bullets can't penetrate military grade aluminum.

That reminds me, wonder if Ford finally got the geometry right on the front of the new Super t*urd duty so you don't have to deal with death wobble or buy parts to a line the front caster.

@Mikey Fuel? On an emergency vehicle? Do you really worry about that?

I want the fire captain thinking about putting out fires. I want cops and canines catching bad guys.

GAS MILEAGE? Are you nuts?

Is RAM some retarded 3rd Worlder? Reading his illiterate comments that praise the worst truck mfg gives me a head ache.

Ford needs to find away to get these f150"s off there lots, no one is buying them so why not sell to the government.

I would love to be able to option a truck like that- even if I had to wait for a batch build- Cloth front, vinyl rear, rubber floor (although THIS rubber floor looks like hell), console delete, huge alternator... great start.

They seem to be doing a pretty good job at it right nkw. Even with GM offering $10K off off their trucks right now.
