Ford Shuts Down F-150 Line to Improve Output

IMG_0038 II

Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant, which makes Ford F-150s, will shut down the half-ton production line for a week starting May 9 to make mechanical changes to increase daily output.

According to Automotive News, the Missouri F-150 production line does not produce as many pickups as the one at the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan. And Ford needs more F-150s to meet demand. The production line for the full-size Transit commercial van, also produced in Missouri, will be unaffected. Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of the Americas, says the goal is to squeeze out as many F-150s as possible, getting the Dearborn and Kansas City plants to produce at similar rates.

With F-150 sales strong for the first quarter of the year and on pace to sell just less than 600,000 units this year (not to be confused with total F-Series sales, which includes the Super Duty and is on pace to sell upward of 800,000 units by year end), Ford believes that the time is right to make the changes to the Missouri plant. The shutdown comes at a time when there’s a good supply of all models and trim levels of F-150s in the pipeline, allowing Ford to accommodate the limited changeover.

This change comes just ahead of the Super Duty plant in Kentucky undergoing major improvements later this summer as Ford gets ready to launch the all-new 2017 Super Duty this fall. The 2017 Super Duty will incorporate many of the material and design changes made to the light-duty pickup for the 2015 model year.

Ford is killing it!!!

Why don't they just shut down forever.

Buy a Tundra.

I did buy a Tundra. back in 07. But I own alot of Ford stock.

neighbor bought a tundra, kept it 8 months and traded it. it was a POS

I guess somebody needs to buy a Tundra. Hardly anybody else is.

Why don't they just shut down forever.

Hey Dildoe, who's making more profit, people want a real truck, not a POS GM shaking trucks.

Ford is making more profit than GM with much more less model trucks and cars.

Thanks for showing your ignorance today, we missed you.

Oh wow they barely made a Billion more bucks, probably got that when they dump the over flowing lots to the rental companies the pass 2 months.

"people want a real truck"

Yup that's why people, retail customers are buying more GMs then Fords LMAO!

Here is my actual post, I think your Helmet is covering your eyes. We, as in real truck owners missed his idiocy.

Strange, every month PUTC post Ford selling the most for the last 39 years.

I think Dildoes helmet is blocking his ears/eyes.

dildoe is wearing a factory defective built helmet, GM probably engineered it.

Where is BigDorkfromOz and his aluminum F150 is a mistake BS?
Ford needs to increase F150 output due to demand. That wasn't his prediction.

Yeh, I ordered a new tundra in 07, waited 109 days. It was the biggest Pile of S..t I ever owned. Toyota spent $7000 rebuilding it under warranty. After every thing was fixed and with a re designed front differential, i sold it with 15k miles on it.

Yawn, who sold 900,000 plus trucks last year? Oh yeah GM did, how many for Furd? What only 700,000. LMAO!!

HAhahahahahaha, even if you say GM sold that many trucks, this isn't nothing to gloat about as they lost millions and millions in profit compared to Ford.

Dude, your helmet is loose again.

Get over it, GM lost money, I don't care if they paid tax payers back (LMFAO, yea effen right) or paid the deceased families for building inferior and poor products.

They lost money PERIOD. Don't matter where it went.

You can continue to put lipstick on your pig, it's still ugly as fvck. You're a TOOL.

Is the GM CEO still Mary Barra, I think so, all the GM products have gone they way of the vagina, the pooosie.

Not around here. I still have a few good friends at some area Ford dealers and they are slow. The GM dealer I use for our GM products are taking in between 50-65 cars and trucks a day.

Oh, I see you said pep boys and NAPA. I guess the Ford guys are filling up on washer fluid and replacement wiper blades. Maybe a nice little scented tree for the rear view mirror. My bad.

Beebe who cares what the imbecile "Frank" or the "dunce" johnny thinks. Both pencil dicks are trying to figure out who got the biggest "hands"...lol

Hey Frank Ford sold over 3 million fire death trap pinto's, Lamborghini made only a handful of Gallardo's. Based on your bonehead logic, the number of units sold of the of the fireball Pinto were far greater than the Lamborghini Gallardo. That fire trap Ford must be a better car!

Ok truly show. Thank you, you are a boob as well, it takes one to know one. Keeping building those Fiestas and Focuses in Mexico.

Spider-Man is stronger than Batman. Got it

This might be a side note, how relevant or not, I've seen several new fords being sold by collison repair companies.. Guessing the insurance companies totaled them but they were repairable??? Not really sure honestly...

Not uncommon at all for any brand of vehicle. A buddy of mine bought a wrecked Uhaul pickup truck that they didn't want to fix. Less than 7K to fix it and the truck was less than a year old. It was cheaper for them to auction it off and get another because of lost rental revenue.

I would just paint the word CHEVY on each side of the truck and hope the owner feels a little more pride in his vehicle. A great place to start the process.

Saw this quote and reminded me of all the dunces here. "It's difficult to win an argument with a smart person but it's damn near impossible to win an argument with a stupiid person"

@ Beebe
That's why I didn't post anything on this thread , because it would be pointless.

too many people that have no need of a pickup are buying them
the used market for these F-150's are going to explode in the next 2 years and the resale value will go down-down-down

buy a new $48K F-150 now and in 2 years it will be worth $18K to $22K
If you are one of those people that buy a new truck every 2 or 3 years expecting to get a high trade-in value the new F-150 is one of the worst.
You can buy a used 2015 F-150 4x4 crew now for $25K.
If you want great resale value get a Toyota Tacoma or the new Nissan Titan XD

The headline for this story cracks me up.

It's the last weekend in April and Ford dealers want more 2016 F150s on their lots like they want a hole in the head.

From now till September is normally a slow time of year for dealers and the last quarter America's economy was really in the ditch, with less than one percent annualized growth.

Any business that has to carry retail inventory wants to be lean right now and Ford is giving the dealers what they want. A shutdown in production.

Now that is funny. Considering I was just dragging you along in the other thread. Just give you a little and boy did you react. Just like clockwork. You are just a predictable moron.

Nah. I hope you enjoy watching V6 EcoBoost tailgates fly by you in your Old School V8!

The shutdown was supposed to be in the Fall. But Ford moved up the shutdown because they want to be able to run better for the rest of the year when the new 2017s come out.

I want heavy payload in a small truck and the 2017 F-250 would appeal more to me since it has the same cab as the F-150.
Also the 2017 F-250 has a more powerful 6.2 engine instead of that wimpy-wimpy-wimpy V6 plastic turbo monstrosity that's overrated

take my advice, wait for the 2017 F-250 instead of a new F-150

@LMAO
Yes. And you forgot to mention, that I didn't post anything on ford recall thread, until you used my nick name to post some crap om my behalf.
You where disappointed, so you have to use my nick name and even reply with my nick name. Ubertro!!. Only one person did that before. Ole One.

Looks like Ford's fleet dump fire sale is helping to keep the plants running. Once they merge with Sergio maybe they'll go fleet sales only.

You are just a predictable moron.

Thank you for being my loyal fiddle. Hahahahaha

Notice in picture there all white, very suspicious. We will see if fleet sales are high agian, real soon.

You guys need to grow up. Pickuptrucks where is the moderation? It's like a middle school forum here with all the name calling. Viewers are going elsewhere where people have good non immature debates.
