Recall Alert: 2015-2016 Ram ProMaster City
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 24,000 model-year 2015-16 Ram ProMaster City vans
The Problem: Snow buildup or inordinate water accumulation near the front of the driver-side seat track may expose a connector to excessive moisture intrusion. Over time, this may cause corrosion and potentially affect signals sent to the vehicle's transmission control module, causing an unintended shift to Neutral when the vehicle is brought to a stop and increasing the risk of a crash. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles stated that it discovered the problem during a routine review of warranty data and is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.
The Fix: Dealers will relocate the electrical connector away from exposure to moisture.
What Owners Should Do: The automaker did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or go to www.safercar.gov, for more info.

No real news here small no big deal inhouse handled recall by Fiat... everyone has them... no need to brag or put down... not even newsworth.
Wait for a real recall like the Ford Cruise Control, The Great Fiat Truck buy back, or the GM death machine ignition trap to get excited...
Kia Soul?
Sounds like they need to fix the hole in the floor to prevent snow from getting under the seat or water. Strangest recall I have seen yet.
Odd recall. Must be from debris brought in by footwear. Most of these are delivery vehicles so access/egress is frequent.
I have a 2015 Ram Promaster City Wagon SLT,I'm not in the least bit worried.
@toxicsluldge
No need to worry. As hideous as that thing looks, no one will get very close to you, so when your van does go into neutral everyone will have plenty of time to stop. I think the risk is very low. Lol
Fiat engineering.
Easy fix. Just relocate the connector. It's good to see, that FCA learned from their past recall mistakes and discovered this issue and will fix it in no time. FIAT engineers stepped .
I would be more concerned with this Fiat recall;

Fiat stepped in something alright!!
One great thing about owning a vehicle of this type--you'd never need to worry about birth control.
People who drive trucks and vans that are this g-a-y really don't get around that much -- if you know what I mean.

Well they had to continue to reputation that the PT cruiser (Pu$$y Turnoff) and neon had.
No, we don't know, what you mean. Please do explain.
@Ram, sorry but if you are under the age of eighteen I'll need consent from your mother, ahem, excuse me -- written permission from your mother-- to explain what the grown ups on the site are making reference to. Ok?

It is pretty simple. You know that special tingly feeling and special "movement" that you always get in the high school gym showers when it is full? That is what we are referring to. Most of us just shower and go, you tend to "linger".
did anybody notice how the wiring harness ON THE F-150 is exposed outside under the front fender along the outside of the frame?
Plus it loops down off the frame to the ground !
You can run over a tree branch and it could hook on to the wire harness and cause some serious damage.
Before you F-150 Jim Jones cult Kool-Aid drinkers cut down another vehicle look at your own !
@papa jim
You got it wrong. I am older than you, but didn't experience anything like you describe, so please let us know , what's your experience, being this g-a-y when you drive truck or this van .
@Ram do you take yourself seriously?
Lou_DC - yes I have noticed and in 5 1/2 years of service it has not been an issue and my truck gets used frequently on gravel roads, logging cut blocks and remote fishing camping areas.
@ papa jim
I am just having fun , like you do , minus that g-a-y stuff, which I don't know anything about, but I am ok with that.

It's the voluntary recall, which will not change the behavior of the shifter.
I bought this van to carry my giant scale rc aircraft.Since I'm in my 60's,and have a large family,it comes in handy for that too.Sorry papajim,I'm not g-a-y.I just vehicles that suit my needs, with zero regard for what others may think.

What do you fly?
WHERE ARE THE FORD RECALLS ?
TRANSITS WERE RECALLED BUT NO MENTION ! ODD !!!
@ Lionel,
The shifter works fine, its not a conventional shifter and people are not used to it,thus they find it confusing !
The shifter springs back to the center, after use...people find it confusing that it doesn't stay in park, reverse or drive once selected...
I have not had a problem, its like years ago people found console shifters confusing, they liked the column..
Years ago people didn't like automatics and left them in reverse and the car didn't start, uproar everywhere !

Seriously? where have you been? that is old news. Already hashed out here when it was released.
It's just a reminder, if someone missed that.
Nope, old news. Not sure what your point is though.
The point is to protect Ford drivers.

Here's How Much Money The CEOs Of The 'Big Three' Make

I don't have a single problem with what those CEO's make. If they can earn it, good for them. I doubt I could do what they could do. Run a global company. But they better do a god job because I believe the share holders can do something about it.
@ LMAO: Senior telemaster, and soon a 1/4 scale j3.I may make the J3 into a lenape papoose.Look it up,really cool looking cub. There's only two flying examples left, and one is in a museum.

Is the 1/4 scale a stick build or is it an ARF? I do like the J3 Cubs. What engine?
Eric - when people get hurt or killed from an obvious bad design; you cannot take it lightly or simply brush it off & blame the driver...
Fyi -I've rented a Fiat products unfortunately (usually Grand Cherokee) but most recently a Charger just our of curiosity. I admit it was a fun car to drive but I did experience exactly the problem as mentioned several times & had to remind myself to double check each time I parked. I consider myself an experienced driver (well after 45 yrs) & further more; being a pilot, I believe it makes you a much better/safer driver due to training skills of being constantly aware of your surroundings, your controls, limitations of your equipment & scanning technics of your instruments.
So yes - this was a bad design, as simple as that & you fanboys really should quit the GUTS & GLORY bullshit when people's lives are at stake...
While I have not had any experience with the fiat products and their version of the dial shift, Ford does have a few Lincoln vehicles with a push button shift. It has been a while since I drove one but I seem to remember the vehicle automatically placing the transmission into park if the driver attempts to leave the vehicle running in gear. I double checked the MKZ owner manual and it does:
Note: If you attempt to leave your vehicle
while it is in gear, the vehicle will
automatically shift into P (Park). Safety belt
and door monitors determine your intent and
make the shift for you. During this time, a
Transmission not in Park message will
appear in the information display screen
prompting you to make the shift.
Looks like a simple programming oversight from the fiat guys and the purchased ZF transmission.
Maybe fiat can buy a Lincoln MKZ to copy the programming to reprogram their system to keep the fiats safe for everyone. Also from the Lincoln owners guide:
Your vehicle has a safety feature that will
automatically shift your vehicle into P (Park)
when any of the following conditions occur:
• You turn the ignition off
• You open the driver's door with your
safety belt unlatched
• Your safety belt is unlatched while the
driver's door is open
If you turn the ignition off while your vehicle
is moving, your vehicle will first shift into N
(Neutral) until it slows down enough to shift
into P (Park) automatically.
Maraschino making 73 million is akin to Nero watching Rome burn, am I right?

Then maybe they can get a Ford Transit and really learn how to build a lemon. Fiat needs some real problems, like the transit has, you know real hazards with various components, including the anchorage, door , equipment adaptive, labels and windshield wiper/washer.
@ LMAO: I don't do arfs.In fact,I ordered my BUSA J3 kit yesterday.Tele senior,powered by a ASP 160 4 stroke twin.I will sent it out to have CH electronic ignition put in.Radio is a Futaba 7C.HiTech servos.
The J3.IF I make it into a Lenape Papoose,it will be a 33cc Saito 3 cylinder radial.4 stroke of course.I don't do arf's as I said,and I don't do 2 strokes.Just a personal choice.
Fiat Doblo(Ram Promaster City) is one of the minor players here in Australia. Mini Vans dominated by VW Caddy. Do not sell the Transit Connect, but the full size Transit and the slightly less than full size versions.
Unlike the US, others dominate the full size Van market, like Renault.
Renault is very big in Europe, making the Nissan, Opel and Vauxhall versions of it's Trafic Van.

This hideous thing should be recalled for being so bloody ugly.
Recently i was charging my phone. Van sounded like battery low clicking. Turned everything off waited tried to start it. It started but wouldnt rev with gas peddle . van seemed stuck in 1000 rpm idle. Let it charge then po po. Can now rev engine but it will only shift into neutral. Won't shift out. Shut off again was able to shift into reverse but with a LOUD bang, moved back out of parking spot LOUD bang into D. Had message center say service hill holder system, servive engine. Anti skid light on check engine light on. transmission not shifting D on shifter blinking. Someone said it maybe in Limp home mode what ever that is? Still at dealer 3 days. All this for a low battery. Maybe they should leave cig lighter outlet hot. Not ignition on?
