Best-Selling Pickup Trucks: April 2016

Sales-Header_Fords[1]2

Traditionally a strong sales month, April looks to be one of the best on record. Many analysts predicted that this month's total sales would put the auto industry on another record-setting pace, with as many as 1.5 million vehicles sold, and that has proven true. Much of that increase, once again, is due to the increased demand for midsize and full-size pickups, and SUVs. And from the number of all-new and redesigned pickups in the pipeline due in the next six to 12 months, that pace is not likely to subside anytime soon.

Of course, the facts that fuel prices remain reasonable in most places around the country and the economy continues to slowly grow definitely will keep pickup truck sales rolling. Another good predictive sign is the growth of the commercial van segment, traditionally a strong indicator of how well the economy is doing. That segment is benefiting from a fresher product lineup. GM is the only vanmaker that has not redesigned its full-size vans.

Midsize pickups had a strong month, with four of the five competitors — the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma — experiencing double-digit increases in month-over-month and year-over-year numbers. It's worth pointing out the midsize Colorado outsold the full-size Tundra for the first time. In the full-size arena, the Ford F-Series improved its numbers compared to March as did the Chevrolet Silverado. The Ram and GMC Sierra both posted solid increases as well.

We expect sales for pickup trucks to continue to be strong deep into the summer and fall as more new models come to market. Just some of the new entries will be the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, the 2017 Ford Super Duty, the 2016 Nissan Titan XD with the gas V-8, the 2016 Nissan Titan half-ton and Honda's segment-busting 2017 Ridgeline.

Ford number 1 again, nothing new to see here

That Picture will never change.

Gm is killing it with truck sales again. Ford again # 2 truck manufacturer.

LOL GMSSALESNUMBERSSUCK! Really what GM are you talking about? i see FOrd number 1, not even chevy or gmc can top the total sales of ford ytd

Those Nissan XD numbers are going to cause head aches.

Gm has sold 294,202 trucks this year, how many has Ford sold, oh wait, I see it now, 256,895. Geezz, that must be embarrassing to be the # 2 in sales and even lower in quality.

Anyone else see a problem with the Titan sales decline?

Breaking news: Silverado 1500 outsold the Ford F 150 in 2015. Ford is silent on the story and this website won't publish the numbers.

Good job ford for producing the best, most capable fullsize pickup on the market. #1 in sales proves it. On same note congrats to toyota in the same respects in the midsize segment. Good job gm for being number 2 in each segment. Congrats to ram for outselling toyota and nissan full size.

Ford in second place once again, even while having fire sales to low paying rental/fleet companies. Nothing new to see here.

Where are the FORD RECALLS on this site ?

Powertrain defects and more.........Ford on this site has no recalls, but reality they are recalled weekly !

Titan sales are down because thier is no regular duty Titan for the 2016 model year, only the heavy duty XD out in crew cab diesel until this week.

NISSAN TITAN IS A FAIL !!!!!!!

Nope, sorry, you're still brain dead. Please return when you get one. The list shows the best is Ford, at #1.

Ford #1 again in full size pickup trucks. Must be that Military Grade Aluminum.

GM #2 again behind Toyota in small Pizza delivery style pickup trucks. LOL

WOOHOO!!! I made the list, I bought the Honda! LOL

Preach it, Scott and Frank!

Ford F-Series outsold combined sales of Silverado and Sierra in April for 58th time in last 80 months.

Also for those in Canada, Ford Canada sees Ford F-Series sales up 32% in April - best month ever on record Ford F-150 sales up 46%!

Oh Frank please do not donate your brain, as they were comparing 1500's to F-150's....Not the entire F-SERIES...sheesh!

Detroit 3 full-size pickup sales in April:
Ford: 70,774, +13%
GM: 70,521, +10%
FCA: 41,079, +8%
Total: 182,374, +11%

Ford is leading the way.

Oh Frank please do not donate your brain, as they were comparing 1500's to F-150's....Not the entire F-SERIES...sheesh!

WTF are you talking about. Another clueless poster.

@davez
Ford is doing awesome in canada. It out sold FCA in canada for the second month in a row. F series is also the best selling pickup in canada as well!!!

@davez correct all good Ford still number 1.

@GMSSALESNUMBERSSUCK, yes I do own a camaro because I like them and am not brand loyal like you, actually my vehicles in my driveway, 2014 Kia optima, 2012 45th Camero SS , 2011 F250 Diesel CC 6.7l I like all vehicles except for GM trucks(gmc and chevy) becausee of bad experiences with them(plus the square wheel wells), will never buy another except for the diesel 2500's.

back on topic, Ford is number 1 as predicted lets move onto another GM recall

Looks like GM throwing 10k on the hood of their trucks helped with their sales.

New pickup releases normally create anticipation, excitement, and exponential sales growth. For some reason the anticipation for the XD diesel didn't cause excitement or exponential sales growth.

Taco still killing the ugly GM twins.

LMAO, I know this only mentions trucks as its a truck site, but the bad thing about this, I was reading how GM as a whole cars including sales were down, the only thing keeping them going was trucks, whereas Ford(number 1 in trucks sales), gained market share in sales as a whole, so the bad sign for GM could be that again they are placing their wagers on trucks, and we all know what happened back in 08 when they did that, again that time period they started loosing auto sale shares to the imports and Ford, then when gas prices went up they went bankrupt and Barry bailed them out along with us taxpayers who have never been repaid, anyway, the future looks bright for Ford, and very dim for GM, lets hope the gas costs stay down or gm will be in the gutter again, this time we will let them fail.

Let those GM clowns say what they want but if you look at the top of this page what brand of truck do you see?? Sure aint nothing from gm. Its FORD again baby!!! #1 truck will always be FORD. Looks like Ram is nipping at chebbys heels. And the next recall for gm is the next thread over.

Nitro You got that backwards moron. Ford cars fell 12% 17% for the Fusion.

http://www.autonews.com/article/20160503/RETAIL01/160509999/jeep-ram-propel-fca-to-6-gain-in-april-gm-drops-4-while-ford-rises-3

Ignorance abounds with the GM clowns!!

Dildoe, I hope you never breed.

@Frank, he may already have. That's the scary part.

@fed up, yes he did his kid is gmsrgreatat#2

I'm not sure if it's funny or sad on how the monthly sales numbers bring the fan boys out to the yard. They defend their brands and trash other ones like it's something that matters in the big picture of things. Sorry boys with sorry lives.

Paging BiGal, Paging BigAl..................

Oh........ he was banned.

Paging DenverDIM, Paging DenverDIM..........

F Series up 12.6% year over year.

Must be because of all of those Steel F250's and F350's being sold.

NO.

That isn't it.

He said the Titan XD was going to hurt Ford HD sales.

Gm was down 8.7 percent as a brand in canada for the month...... Ford brand was the sales leader in canada for the month!!!! Huge rebates isnt helping gm at all.

The Ford clowns are so ticked off GM is smoking them in truck sales, 80,000 plus sales in one month for GM. Ford could only dream of selling that many trucks in one month.

They forgot to put a whole Fseries at that picture on the top of this page. Some ford fans got confused again , because of that and they think, they won something , if they drive 2012 F150. LOL.
This makes me happy. Everybody sells like crazy. I will buy one year old truck for very cheap again.
Keep buying them suckers !

The real winner... Toyota Trucks

Tundra: selling a 2007 truck with minor updates, still posting up ~10 units a month (~120k a year) with no discounts or cash on the hoods.

Tacoma: selling a mid-sized truck with no height adjustable seat, majority of the underpinning is a carry over and the selling price is higher than previous generation. Again no discounts or cash on the hood. And it's almost outselling the other mid-sized trucks combined.

No wonder Toyota posts up record profits, they put minimal work in and the trucks still sell regardless. Selling so many trucks they had to move some Tacoma production back to Mexico from Texas.

Good job to everyone. I wonder how much longer the "gold rush" on pickups can last.

WOW!!! You'll never see a ram picture at the top of this page let alone a gm or chebby. Look out chebby, ram is nipping at your toes though!! OUCH!!

WOW!!! Look out Furd, FCA will be passing you for second place when they build the mini Ram and Jeep truck OUCH!!

Furd clowns will really cry then, being in third place!

Just look gm ,,,they share the market Whit the big truck and the small truck,,,,gm dominated the pickup market ,,

WOW!!! Look out Furd, FCA will be passing you for second place when they build the mini Ram and Jeep truck OUCH!!

Furd clowns will really cry then, being in third place!

Hey look, johnny dildoe is now rooting for FCA, he want's to combine Jeep and a so called mini Ram to totals sales so he can say FCA sells more than Ford.

Winner, Winner, r3t@rd of the year!!!!
