Recall Alert: 2013-2014 Ford F-150
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 225,000 2013-14 Ford F-150s equipped with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine built at the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan from Aug. 1, 2013, through Aug. 22, 2014, and the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri from Aug. 1, 2013, through Aug. 31, 2014
The Problem: The brake master cylinder can leak fluid that can move into the brake booster, affecting the ability of the front brakes to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is aware of 10 incidents related to this issue.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder at no cost to the customer and replace the brake booster if they find any leaks.
What Owners Should Do: The automaker did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call Ford at 866-436-7332 for more info.

Looks like Ram was wrong again about his superior insight. Atleast Ford customers are getting a potential issue resolved.

Looks like the NHTSA investigation actually amounted to something.
Is the brake master cylinder different for the 3.5 and 5.0 engines?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
@ LMAO
Are all recalls not "potential" issues? Too bad for those 10 people they were not. Perhaps you should choose better grammar, and a better truck :(
I was right, that Master cylinder is defective and Ford is gonna recall them.
LOVE
FORD!
Stayin' on top by being the best!
Where are all the Ford fan boys dogging my post on the Tundra article??? Yup your Ford is reliable....NOT!

Not to mention the 900000 GM trucks recalled for seatbelts problems.
And don't even start with Ram !!!!
@Cool
RAM is immune to brake disease.

It looks like master cylinder was poorly cast with bubbles or has been made from aluminium with wrong tolerances and when seals goes fluid goes.
This looks , like ford will needs to replace all 420 000 of them. Best never rest. Follow the leader. Ford is #1 and always will be.

Actually no, you said the master cylinder casting was defective, it is a seal that is the cause of the failure. OH Man, I would hate to be you, you know, wrong all the time.

well we really do not know that. fiat has a nice little history of hiding issues under the carpet while butt humping goats. Kinda makes you wonder why no one wants to merger with that sad excuse of a car company.
This is no big deal because even if the brakes go out you won't have to worry about getting your legs amputated because Ford's MILITARY GRADE cab is strong enough to survive. Unlike ram and gm( government motors). MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE,!!!!!!! Woooooooooooh!!!!!!

Try telling that to your neighbor after you've run over their kid because you military grade brakes failed.
your military grade brakes failed.
Ford is aware of 10 incidents related to this issue but stopped short of assuring that nobody has been hurt. That's not a good sign. Ford should immediately arrange for all affected vehicles to be towed to the nearest dealer.
Actually, I just read there was only 1 reported injury.
Wasn't this under investigation by the transportation department around March?
FORD IS NUMBER ONE!!!!!
RECALLS STEERING TRANSMISSION BRAKES ENGINE FIRES TIRES JUST ABOUT COVERS IT.

I was just about to post part of the info but I decided to let you stew around a little before I do. It may be public but honestly I could care less into finding out if it is or not.
I wonder why they wouldn't just replace the seal. Possibly a redesigned master cylinder was required.
Ford owners love the new Aluminum. So much easier to push it home.

Probably because it is not standard practice. There is no service procedure in the WSM to rebuild a master cylinder or replace the internals. Just like power steering gear boxes, alternators, starters, etc. They could write instructions specific to this recall but I cannot imagine it being to wise in a recall for a tech to possibly have a chance messing things up to try and safe a few $ for a recall.
save not safe
Ford customers stew around. Not me bro. I am going to drive my RAM right now, without a fear to push a brake pedal. You should try it once.
Hmmm. I wonder if they're using the same brake master cylinder as they used to use with their clutches in the 90s. My own '97 Ranger had a master cylinder leak that resulted in a rusted spring around the slave cylinder boot, forcing a total rebuild with less than 20K miles on the truck. Moreover, an acquaintance of mine had a similar issue with a full-sized F-150 where his clutch needed rebuilding and that truck was less than five years old at the time.

Meeh, it's funny when ford horde beg for mercy.
I wouldn't drive a Ford if you gave it to me. To dangerous.
@ Ram
You got your truck back from the shop ? Did they have them jelly donuts today ? They ran out the other day to many people there I guess.
Sucks it up ford horde. Ford is #1 in recalls. I mean Military Grade Recalls.
Slaping pistons, transmission issues you name it. So stop talking crap about ford when something positive comes out on the # one BEST SELLING TRUCK OF US AND MEXICO.

Wow this has to be the worst yet. Oh double wow. Someone badly needs to monitor this site.
Back to the subject of this article, it surely is a bad deal when brakes fail. It's good to see manufacturers admit they screwed up and be willing to make it right. I think most automakers actually do care about the safety of their customers (although I'm not sure about Sergio, he's a little weird).

“We have had 3 wrecks in this truck from rear-ending people because the truck would not stop or the pedal would go to the floor,” reads a complaint submitted in March by an owner in Arkansas. “I still own this truck because I still owe a lot of money on it. I can’t afford to get rid of it. So I just hardly ever drive it unless I have to.”

For sure the Ford lawyers are earning their keep on the poor Ford brakes issue. Read the last paragraph from the link below. This recall is to address a second issue with these pick-ups.

I must admit, Ford owners are a brave bunch.
So are GM owners... After all they don't mind their cars shutting off due to fault ignitions switches. Lets see. If a car shuts off you lose power steering and power brakes.

True, but you still have manual steering and brakes. Fords, not so much.
@ HEMI V8, FCA recalling 400k Jeep Wranglers.
In the Wranglers' steering wheel, excessive accumulation of dust and dirt from open-air driving off-road could compromise the clockspring in the steering-wheel assembly and prevent the airbag from deploying in the event of a crash

Military Grade Brakes beat Professional Grade Ignition EVERY time.
Caught in house 10 incidents 0 deaths 0 injuries, Get it fixed right and fast unlike some other far more fatal recalls...

If you noticed no issues were found but Ford did extend the warranty on the pump. A friend of mine just had his replaced on his F150 and he said there was a change in the pedal feel but he could stop no problem. But because he received the letter and the pedal felt different he took it to the dealer.

Maybe because they need to pay attention to the road. It has been confirmed that the low fluid warning light and chime goes off when the fluid goes to low. If it was related to this recall then they would have had to have the issue fixed on the first incident because they would have had no brakes afterwards. They are looking to pawn their mistakes on someone else common sense tells everyone but you that.
LMAO
Bad drivers always find someone or something else to blame for their inability to safely control their vehicle. A prime example of this was Toyota's unintended acceleration.

Did I not say Ford legal team was earning their keep. There is a problem if there is an increase in braking effort. I'm sure measured stopping distances would have increased as evidenced by the poor guy who experienced those 3 crashes. But the legal team did their job and was able to strike a deal with just extending the warranty and notifying the customer. I'm sure the FORD customer is so full of gratitude that FORD has extended their warranty on this item that they will blindly purchase another one of these trouble laden Ford products.
