2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Runs on New-Tech Tires

Raptor_White_Hero_01[3] II

With all the buzz surrounding the debut of the all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor (coming later this fall), we thought you might want to see more details about the types of tires the pickup truck use. These are the same tires that are doing such an impressive job in the 2016 Best in the Desert race series in which Foutz Motorsports is crushing the competition driving a 2017 Raptor.

The 2017 Raptor will run on new BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires specifically developed with the truck's newly modified chassis and suspension. Ford and BFG went through dozens of iterations to find the right balance between optimum off-road performance and real-world street dynamics. The new tread pattern puts more rubber on the ground without sacrificing dirt-grabbing traction. The new tires reportedly have vastly improved tread life as well.

To see the new tires in regular and slow-motion action, check out this new Ford video below.

Johnny Don't: YOUR JEALOUSY CONSUMES YOU.

Don't worry, johnny moron doe is waiting for a new paint color chevy. It will probably be frame rust brown. LMAO.

Why would I be jealous? Ton of videos of stock Ram/GM/Toyota trucks taking way harder beatings, and all are thousands of $$$$ less than this used beer can truck.

Ok.... For starters these tires have been out for awhile now..... I have 30,000 on my set as I type this...... LOVE the winter traction but I'm afraid these will wear out LONG before the original TA KO's.... I'm thinking about 15k more and mine are done..... 275/60/20s Load D....... I love the tire and they are durable but I don't believe they will have better tread life. Maybe its just me and my truck causing the wear....

yeah it's your truck...I have these on my '93 Renegade & approaching 30 & still looks good /probably last another 15-20...

I wonder when BAFO is going to trade in his Ute for a Prius?

Sounds like you need a tire rotation or proper wheel alignment. lol

Where's the competition?? No wait, there is none only jealous fans boys and girls wishing they're company had something that could only come close to the Raptor. Grow up.

Military Grade Tires.

The Craptor gets smoked by every day common stock 4WD trucks, don't hear bout Ram/GM/Toyota truck A arm bolts shearing/breaking from pebbles hitting them.

If you want a real offroad truck you would spend the same amount of money and get one of these

This was not posted by me.

^^^^^ Um yea, that is just weird bro. You have some serious issues.

BFGs are junk, tons of my off road buddies won't buy these. The KO2s wear much worse than the original KO and the BFGs are much more expensive than better tires.

The GoodYear Duratrac and the Nitto Exo Grappler are both snow flake rated and much better than the new KO2s.

The BFGs are known for turning into slicks with any mud, these are great tires for someone that spends 95% of the time onroad and 5% off road doing very light offroading. Don't rub the sidewalls on rocks, the BFG sidewalls are very weak.

Only tires I can attest to being very good offroad with no punctures or tears are the Nitto Trail Grappler, Nitto Mud Grappler, Nitto Exo Grappler, Toyo RT and the Toyo MT. Those are all fantastic tires and all wear good (except for the Nitto Mud Grapplers)

More like you have serious issues kid. using my name to open up about yourself, like I've said what a tool.

Your butt is hurt, remove the dildoe.

I aint butt hurt, but you sure are kid.

Johnny stick anything in my butt doe is right Frank. it would take nothing short of a VW bug up his anus hole to hurt his well worn butt.

You two must have dildoe and anus fetishes, you should open up and just let it out weirdos.

Um yea, you are always talking about being butt hurt. You are the one with the man anus fetish. I mean that is ok that you like big, loose, hairy butt holes with a set of balls in front of it, but please, keep it to yourself.

Don't know what your talking bout kid, but whatever it is you have/need to say to make yourself feel better. Go for it.

It's sad LMAO has to use my name.

And 3/5 sets of bfg ko2s always take a ton of weight to balance, some had to be swapped out for another set as they wouldn't balance. All of my Nittos and Toyo tires took very little and some that took no weight to balance. Toyo/Nitto make very uniform tires, something that can't be said for every tire maker.

Funny you where talking bout anuses, then just a bit later the post of @n@l lube pops up. Anyone with more then 2 brain cells can tell it was you retardo.

Hey Jack - thanks for the NITTO recommendations - I started with NITTO's a few yrs back ('04 Lightning) & only discovered recently they make good off-road tires too.

I wish to replace current BFG K02 on '93 Renegade Wrangler & which one would you recommend (Nitto Trail Grappler, Nitto Mud Grappler, Nitto Exo Grappler). I would like to limit max size 33/12.50) & only off-road approx. 30-40% of the time...

Thanks & cheers

If any of you could comprehend what was written you would not be comparing these New tires that are not out yet to tires that either you have, have had or heard someone had...

Unless they come in a 4ply I am not interested in them, I do not need a set of four tires that just one of them is rated for more then my vehicle weighs...

MILITARY GRADE tires have to be built for a MILITARY GRADE TRUCK because the MILITARY GRADE RAPTOR has so much power it will burn a ten ply tire down to the rim with just half throttle. GM(government motors) and fiat need special tires because their front ends eat them up because of broken welds.LMAO!!!!! MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE, MILITARY GRADE!!! Wooooooooooooh!!!!!!!

When do we see a video of 2017 Raptor Axle Wrap ?

The best tires are the Cooper Discoverer AT3

Got to have a V8 option in my book. Why not supercharge a V8 say 6.2 Get R Done!

Those of us who've been offroaders for decades know that the BFG all terrains are the most over-rated tires on earth.

They are horrendous in the mud and snow because the interlocked tread cakes up and turns into a racing slick. They have high rolling resistance on the highway which hurts fuel economy. They are over-priced. And they really aren't that tough either. I've seen them flat on the trails many many times.

BFG KOs are the BEST!!!

Hey johnny & Gms, you guys can always go back read about the all new hood on the chevy/gmc twins, news worthy for sure

@Lionel I'd get the trail grapplers or the new exo grapplers if you offroad only ~30-40%. The exo grapplers are snow rated, so if you live in a snow climate I'd opt for those. I currently have ~34.5" Exo grapplers on my 3" lifted tundra and they cleaned out very well in the mud. The exos will probably last ~10-20k longer than the trail grapplers. The Exos have more spies, which will be better in wet conditions. Both the trail and exo grapplers are great tires for the weekend warrior that spends a good amount of time on pavement.

the Exo grapplers are also studable, if you wanted to install winter studs on them.

I also forgot the Cooper STT Pros, I have a buddy that actually wheels his lifted Trail 4Runner and he has 285/70r17 Cooper STT Pros and they are another great option for a hybrid MT. They are comparable to the Trail grapplers but I believe they weigh a few pounds less. He has had nothing but good things to say about his Coopers.

@jack,

Do you have any experience with General Grabbers?

@Frank I personally do not, I had a friend that ran the Generals red letters (not the AT2s) and they didn't last very long on his lifted tundra towing a trailer. He went to Micky Thompson ATZ and he has been happy. Expedition Overland (youtube channel) loved the AT2s on their Tacoma, 80 Series Land Cruiser, and 2 4Runners on their expedition through Alaska and South America and they were very happy with the tires. Noted that in season 2 (South America) they got sponsored by General to use the AT2 tires.

I've used Nitto and Toyo on my vehicles for awhile, the fact they take nearly zero weight to balance is awesome.

My past 2 tires I have got good tread wear from my Nittos. My last set of Nitto trail grapplers had 45,000 miles on them before I replaced them (2/32") and I had 25,000 miles on my last set of Nitto Mud Grapplers and they had 1/2 tread left when I traded that truck in. I rotated each set every 5,000 miles.

I just got my new set of Nitto Exo Grapplers so I can't comment on tread wear, but in wet conditions they are much better than the Mud Grapplers and Trail grapplers due to the extra sipes. The Exos were also ~$45 cheaper per tire than the Trail grappler I was looking at in the same size.

Plus the Exos come severe snow rated like the BFG TAKO2s and Duratracs.

Thanks Jack!

@Frank No problem, I'm sure others have good experience with other tires that I've mentioned, but in my personal opinion I am not a big fan of BFG. And I cringe every time a manufacture puts the KOs on their trucks (Raptor, TRD Pro Tacoma, ETC).

The V6 is fail and I'm a big Ford fan.

I guess some folks are having a hard time reading. These are a revised design. The design went through optimization for this specific application.

They need to be 18" wheels for adequate brake cooling.
Ford really should have used a supercharged 5.0 V8, much easier to modulate when running under 1500rpm.
