Recall Alert: 2016 Ford F-150

2016 Ford F150 recall
By Tom Torbjornsen

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 4,000 model-year 2016 Ford F-150 pickup trucks manufactured at the Dearborn Assembly Plant in Michigan Feb. 20 through Feb. 25, 2016, and the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri Feb. 17 through Feb. 24, 2016

The Problem: The driver's seatback may have been improperly welded and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of an injury. Ford said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver-seat backrest frame for free.

What Owners Should Do: Ford did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 866-436-7332 for more info.

Oh gee, I get to have my driver's seat rebuilt in my new truck!

HAHAHAHAHA! I love this!

And once again Ford does not disappoint. Yet another recall. Now the Ford fan boys will say how greatful they are that Ford is taking care of the problem. Instead they should be asking when will Ford build a reliable truck.

@sierra, damn ford site! Just as you guys said......and yes the Ford guys will say they are greatful, why you ask? Becaue if it were chevy they would know about it, wait until there are many deaths then say oh yeah we knew that.....now we will fix it....I would brag about that if I were you....

At least the drivers seat doesn't wabble when you turn or hit a bump like I experienced in my 14 Silverado.

Actually, Ford found the problem, that shows you who can build a better truck.

GM can't figure out the Chevy Shake, that's more pathetic and embarrassing. Good Luck with your Brand of junk.

Ford wins this debate hands down. First, Ford found the problem, knows how to fix it, and properly issued a recall before any injuries occur.

GM on the other hand would cover up the problem, fix the broken part if possible but then not issue a separate parts number. They would then wait until a dozen or so people die before issuing a recall and then settle out of court to the poor families who lost loved ones. That's if they know how to fix the issue. Even better, if the problem occurred before 2009, GM would claim that it was before their bankruptcy and attempt to not be responsible for any claims. What a worthless company!

Or GM would say that their own analysis and testing gas shown that the seats don't need to be welded properly and doesn't create a safety problem and dispute any findings from any other source.

Some Chevy's may shake, but its better than spontaneously catching fire!__________________324 complaints of F-150 catching fire_____________________One example ---On May 9, 2016 in Manchester NH our 2015 Ford F150 Lariat spontaneously caught fire and destroyed itself and a car in the adjacent parking spot. The vehicle was parked a few feet outside our office window when smoke came pouring out of the hood of the truck. The truck was unattended, was NOT running, just suddenly started burning out of control. It eventually burnt to the ground, destroying the front of our office concrete walls, office windows, pavement, and the car next to it.__________For 323 more fire stories click here_______________https://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/

I am not sure about the article. I know a couple of Chevy owners who burn 1 quart of oil very 2 to 3 thousand miles. Quality is not quite there. I will stick with my Ford F-150 Thank You

@heyyouguys,

Congrats on learning how to use google search. Now, do yourself a favor and google Chevy AND GM fires. It's not pretty. You'll notice the 1.4 million cars recalled by GM for fire risk last Oct. You'll also notice another 300K trucks recalled in 2014 for fire risk. In 2010, GM recalled 1.5 million for fire risk. Consumer affairs has well documented the number of complaints for GM vehicle fires. Hell two weeks ago I passed a Chevy truck burnt to the ground near Fort Smith, AR on I-49. Try another attack line next time.

Come on Guys Ford had a good day today!

Ford's first recall of the day covers the 2015-2016 Ford Focus Electric. The differential pinion shaft might wear, which could fracture the shaft and cause the vehicle to lose the ability to move under its own power. Putting the car in Park might also be affected. This could happen while at speed...lol

Second the 2016 Transit Connect cargo van were recalled.
This problem involves the braking system. Reduced performance of the brake hydraulic control unit might cause issues with safety systems, including electronic stability control, roll stability control, anti-lock braking, curve control, trailer sway control, traction control and hill-start assist -- without warning. Yipes!

And finally the F150 and Exploders seat recall that this article is about.

Hey in hockey that would be a hat-trick!

No worries Ford has got their top guys working on it....

AND YOU CAN'T CHANGE PEOPLES MIND BY POSTING ALL THE RECALLS FORD HAD IN THE PAST THEY ARE ALWAYS GONNA BE LOYAL TO FORD WHICH MAKES THE MOST RELIABLE TURCK IN NORTH AMERICA ,MEXICO AND CANADA. BUT YOU CAN STAY WITH GOVERNMENT MOTORS WITH THE "SHAKEVROLET" WHILE OTHER PEOPLE ENJOY THEIR FORD F-150'S.

Posted by: Dave | Jun 29, 2016 7:30:46 PM ____________________________ I put a lot of facts out there but you Ford boys refuse to read it or can't. So I figured you guys may understand pictures and video a little better, I guess I was wrong. You people cant even get through your thick skulls that GM sold more full size trucks last year than Ford , I even posted a chart that showed the sales break down of light duty and heavy duty. In case you missed it GM sold 44,329 more full size trucks than Ford in 2015, and yes I'm counting 150-750..................6 models beat 7, way to go GM! I guess that's why Ford goes after Chevy. They cant compete head to head with GM or Howie Long.

That could also be the reason the F-150 wasn't the 2016 truck of the year, guess who won that prize.

Nice try. But next time, know what you're talking about so you don't come across as a fool.

Posted by: Ford orgullosa de ser mexicana | Jun 29, 2016 10:17:47 PM_________________So fool why didn't the Ford F150 win in 2014? All the Ram and Colorado had to do was add a diesel engine to win. And why hasn't the Mustang (all new in what 2014) won since 1994?

Why do GM guys act like girls on here? Is it because GM makes girly trucks ? Get a Ram girly guys.

Posted by: I am Ram therefore I am going to take it where the sun don't shine._________________________ No the meanest looking trucks out there are Chevy, GMC. and Super Duty, no one thinks manly when they see a soft rusted out Ram.

To be eligible for the award, a car must be an "all-new" or "substantially upgraded" vehicle that has been on sale within twelve months from the previous November, vehicles that have been on sale for over five years are ineligible for the award.

THE CRITERIA

Advancement in Design

Well-executed exterior and interior styling, innovative vehicle packaging, and a good selection and use of materials.

Value

Each vehicle's price and equipment levels compared with those of vehicles in the same market segment.

Performance of Intended Function

How well the vehicle does the job its planners, designers, and engineers intended it to do.

Efficiency

Fuel efficiency and carbon footprint size relative to the vehicle's competitive set.

Safety

The ability to help avoid a crash, plus secondary safety measures to protect occupants during an accident.

Engineering Excellence

Total vehicle concept and execution; clever solutions to packaging, manufacturing, and dynamics; and cost-effective technology that benefits consumers.........................

_____Motor Trend"s eligibility requirements

Ford orgullosa de ser Mexicana............ So why didn't the aluminum F150 win, its has not been on sale for over five years yet. The new mustang also has not been on sale over five years yet either.

It must be the F-150 with the bucket seats instead of the bench seat.................right?

Well, while I'm not one to take glee in other people's problems, this just confirms my feelings about Ford's quality in general. I will never buy a Ford, though as of now I have owned three and driven many. All three, in their way, have been a money pit either to get into running condition or to keep running.

I just heard from the guy who bought my 1990 F-150 XLT Lariat and discovered that even he had to spend an extra $1500 just to pass state inspection, after I had spent $2500 for the same purpose when I purchased it. The truck had only clocked 4000 miles between inspections.

Everyone knows a guy or had personal issues with every brand of truck - including Toyota. Others have had no issues with their brand of trucks. This message board accounts for a super narrow percentage of owner expirences. Think about it in the macro sense - how many millions of pickup trucks have been produced over the last 5 years and how the relatively small number of people who post on this site can effectively attest to brand x being better than brand y. There are comparisons, etc but when it comes down to it, it's about personal preference. Therefore, people take it personally when you are critical of their brand. Let's be honest they are all pretty decent trucks now - even the Tundra (jk). Enjoy the variety and respect others choice too

What state requires 26 yo vehicles to pass emissions?

California.

Ha ha ha ha ha he he he ha ha ha ha ha ho ho he ha ha ha!!! Man Ford sucks.

In light of all this evidence, we have to conclude that when parking in a lot, don't park next to a Ford. Rolling fire hazards. If you have get-togethers at your home, ask that any F-150's be parked away from the other guest's vehicles. Preferably in the street, near a fire hydrant if available.

For those of you that own an F-150, it'll soon be required by law that you own a fire extinguisher that's easily accessible from your truck. Best practice would be to mount it in the bed so passerby's can attempt to put it out if you're not around. If you own a 2015 or newer F-150, be careful not to drop the fire extinguisher in the bed, evidence suggests it will probably tear a hole in the military-grade bed.

This has been a public service announcement.
