Recall Alert: 2016 Ram 1500 Pickup Truck
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 100 model-year 2016 Ram 1500 pickup trucks manufactured between Feb. 19 and March 3, 2016
The Problem: The front half-shafts may have been incorrectly manufactured, causing them to fracture without warning. A fractured half-shaft may damage underbody components and create road debris, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the right half-shaft free of charge.
What Owners Should Do: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has not yet announced an owner notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info.

Let's hope the folks who bought any of these (including trucks that RAM dealers have actually been sold yet) are aware of the risk of having a shaft grenade all over the road, esp, in traffic.
Still a better truck then anything Furd Junk Motors could ever build!
Junk
JUNK = Ram = gm
FIX IT AGAIN TONY.
That's a potentially very exciting recall... only 100 trucks? Very limited mistake. Get it fixed, no big deal.
@Lionel
What would you suggest for me to buy, instead my perfectly fine 2010 RAM 1500 without any Engine, Trany, Airbags or Brakes recall ? I don't need axle wrap as well.
I am listening.
RAM - it's your choice/your $$$.
But I've experienced so many bad products from Chrysler even from way back before Fiat; just too many/too long to list here. But I briefly note the cases I'm personally & currently involved to assist/getting parts from US;
A best friend 1996 RAM 2500 Cummins; the whole dash board crumbled into pieces - still trying to find a replacement - do you have any suggestions?!
Wifes newphew; 2011 RAM 2500 cummings (only 40 000 miles; ball joints to be replaced & they discovered oil leaks from transmission)
Friends brand new SRT8 GC with less than 2000 miles; engine blocked & the dealer is still not sure what happended.
Company cars Chrysler 300; all models 2012-15; toomany to list here but endless brake problems & discs/pads changed countless times (woobles at high speed brake). Unfortunately my company just ordered new '16 models & crossing fingers they will be better...
In conclusion, I'm convinced they use shoddy parts or poor designs or both. The only good thing going for them is Ralph Gilles for soem of the best designs out there, HEMI & CUMINS engines...the rest unfortunately is junk...sorry my 2 cents...
@Lionel
Typical. But what would you suggest for me to buy, instead of my perfectly fine 2010 RAM 1500 without any Engine, Trany, Airbags or Brakes recalls?
I don't need axle wrap as well.
I am listening.
RAM - you've just being lucky; best advice I can offer is get rid of it before trouble starts. Here is another true story & close comparison of a Chrysler/Ford product;
Back in 2004, I bought my wife a new black GC Limited & I got myself a black F150 Lightning;
1st yr: GC had small issues from brake/signal light bulbs burnt out, 2 electric window motors burnt out (rear right/front driver) Struts for rear hatch died..yeah amazing all this within 9 000 miles.
2nd yr: Struts for engine hood had to be replaced, brakes went out & discovered after the fact there was a recall/dealer promised these new replacement ones will correct the problem....NOT.
3rd yr/approx. 25 000 miles: 2nd set of brake pads/discs to solve the wobble problem again when braking hard or down hill. At 28 000 miles, transmission went out & had to be replaced; reason seals were bad & transmission fluid had a slow leak. A/C went out shortly after & condenser had to be replaced.
Fast forward today; GC was sold eventually to some sucker & discovered recently it's sitting in someone's garage used as spare parts. Wife is happy with her Porches Cayenne & I kept the Lightning (81 000 miles now) & running as powerful as the day I bought it. Only parts I've changed were head/brake lights, one set of brake pads (still the original discs!), O2 sensors & at least 4 sets of tires...that's it - the A/C is the original including condenser!!
Well, that's nice story about your Grand Caravan problems I don't have with my truck...I wouldn't consider myself lucky, but experienced buyer, who buys proven components , like HEMI, 545 RFE Trany,, Multilink with coils ,similar to my Durango I had before RAM .You didn't answer my question ,what would you suggest for me to buy, instead of my perfectly fine 2010 RAM 1500 without any Engine, Trany, Airbags or Brakes recalls and with 180 000 kms ?
I don't need axle wrap as well.
Give me some adviadvice please. I am listening.
RAM - firstly, GC stands for Grand Cherokee & secondly; I know you want me to recommend a Ford product & knowing your response; you should just keep your RAM while it lasts but just remember you were warned.
To finish off my last story; my wife's nephew finally admitted he should have listened to my recommendation not to buy the RAM. Believe it or not, I actually recommended a Chevy 2500 instead. But he was a sucker for the looks & I do agree the RAM looks tougher than the Chevy...
My other persistent friend with the brand new SRT8 GC, he didn't listen to me when he bought his 1st GC '07 model that had almost identical problems as my wife's GC roughly 3 years later with exact transmission & rear axle change...
@Lionel
No, I don't want you to recommend ford. I have a friend I warned about ford and he didn't listen . He is in brakes recall program. I am warning you too. Stay away from ford . Engine, trany, brakes, airbags recalls. Most important truck components. Google it.
@RAM - perfect, just don't forget you were warned...heh heh
Warned of what ?
Ford recalls and axle wrap ? Thank you. I am well aware of that.
Ram doesn't sell many trucks but they are they have the most different recalls for 2016. Maybe sergio getting his pee pee slapped by obama about not fixing his garbage and given sergio huge record fines is finally having an effect. These ram are like the oldest truck out there. They are like have been the same since that tornado movie came out many years ago.... Its amazing that such an old design isn't sorted out by now that they have to have gobs of recalls on 2016 models while its only 1/2 way through the year.
Makes you wonder what kind of defects Fiat is hiding on older models if the 2016 ram is plagued with such lack of quality issues???
Well, my 2010 RAM 1500 has been sorted out well. No Engine recall, no trany recall, no brakes recall, no airbags recall. How many years will take to sort all those basic things out for ford ? Eh?
Are you gonna be bragging about 100 pieces to fix ? It's not perfect, but RAM learned the lesson . GM , I am not so sure about and Ford, well we will see how long it will take to fix 270 000 of them. It's not going to be overnight and it will cost them lol of money and honestly I don't know how that could slip through their service department for so long, without headquarter noticing it. I don't believe, they where not aware of that. I am not buying that. Ever.
@RAM - I admire your loyalty for a sinking brand but don't try to convince others to buy their crap; I'm the wrong guy with 1st hand experience dealing with Chrysler/Fiat/RAM crap over the last 20 odd yrs.
I've spent at least $20 000+ besides wasted time at Dodge/Chrysler dealers parts department (I refuse to buy aftermarket/PETBoys junk). The Dodge dealer on Hawthorn blvd, Redondo beach knew me well/made lot's of $$$ off their product failures. I'm now trying to help family/friends with their defected Fiat crap & really pain in the butt...OK!!?...go to bed now.
@Lionel
I admire you are the loyal ford guy, even with all those major recalls introduced recently., something I don't have to worry about with my RAM.
Ford service department was hiding this brakes defect for very long time, but they are not worry, because of customers like you.
@lionel
For your comments/exp with jeeps--they're very unreliable. This is commonly well known. To blame all of Fiat for this and state that every Fiat vehicle is crap is completely biased. You have next to no credibility. Nice try.

@Montands - another Fiat supporter; not sure where you came in but I also mentioned issues with RAM's (4 cases) & I've owned one + Dakota's (2 cases with close friends). I really don't have the energy to go through the details now nor anything to prove to you guys as it seems you are blinded just like a Trump supporter - so good luck & keep hugging that Fiat crap,,,the writing is already on the wall & I've warned all my family/friends to keep their distance until their future/finaance is fixed. Unfortunately my company needs Chrysler 300's for the VIP service business (next adequate model are AUDI's or MERC & double the cost) so we're kind of stuck....
@Lionel
My RAM doesn't have any engine, trany, brakes or air bags recall, like ford does. Does it still mean for you it's worst than ford ?
Where is the logic in it please ? You really are blinded ford supporter bro, calling my 2010 RAM 1500 a fiat crap. Give me a break. Why would I chose ford with recalls and axle wrap over my truck ? Give me one reason, or shut up finally.
I will stay with my RAM, because you didn't say which one is better. Thank you for your advice bro.
I feel good about my decision.
@RAM - yes please & do us all a favor. At the same time, suggest full coverage insurance just in case knowing RAM's crash ratings...
@Lionel
No worries. My brakes won't fail, airbags will work properly and trany won't shift at 65mph to the first gear suddenly, like my neighbors right beside me F150 he was very proud of . He drives Tacoma for 1 year already , because of that . It happened to him at Hwy and his wife switched from Escape to Renegade 2 months ago. I drive RAM and my wife Cherokee. I inspired him I guess. I see them smiling every day.
You can drive what ever you want to. No one cares.
@RAM - wow a happy Fiat family...wish you all good luck!
Thank you. Too bad luck won't help you, only recall.

He is delusional Lionel. 2010 ram 1500 reliability is in the toilet. Very poor ratings for braking system, suspension, HVAC, driveline, exhaust, paint/trim, interior and exterior integrity. Basically, 2010 rams suck. He just comes here trying to feel good about his poor purchase decision and he is so upside down in his post truck he cannot get rid of it.
Oh and his so called wife's (man lover) jeep. He already had the transmission replaced on it twice. Those 9 speeds are plagued with issues that still are not sorted out yet. Those Cherokees are just junk.
New Chevy truck commercial starts today showing a pay loader dropping 825 pounds of cement blocks from 5 feet into the beds of the new Ford and Chevy pickups. See what it does to the pop can Ford. The pop can Ford will leak for sure!
My wife got upgraded 9 speed trany replaced just once , a one year ago and it works great since then.
Maybe they should revise trucks reliabiliti for ford from 2010 to 2015, because of engine, trany and brakes recalls. My 2010 RAM 1500 would be on the top without those issues ford experiences.

Hahahahaha that is the latest update for reliability. Face it, ram trucks suck. Your ram really sucks. Jeep sucks, your Fiat Cherokee really sucks. People are still having mass problems with that Fiat pos. Sorry but your brand just sucks.
Ok.

That's a poor attempt at trying to bash Ford, in the end, GM will eat crow when they go Aluminum, as always, GM, foot in mouth and headup a-hole. Who drops that many blocks into a Half ton. Get a dump truck, GM is dumb.
GM will not go all Aluminum.

I guess with a Ford half ton you can't carry 800lbs in the bed,, or drop a tool box. So yeah Ford F150 owners should buy a dump truck to haul 800 pounds of blocks home LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys pick on some Ram trucks for only having 800 pound payload ratings, but at least the bed won't crack or have holes in it like a new Ford would.

@ Frank - thanks & copy; I just realized how far some of these idiots on this site are really, I mean really blind sighted by pure loyalty...just like for a Rep nominee.
I mean it amazes me even after a catastrophe 9-speed tranny change on his wife's junk jeep, it should have certainly raised some red flags.....I'm certain he has had many problems with his dump RAM truck & will not admiti it.
I guess they live by Fiat & die with Fiat....Hey RAM; "viva la Fiat"...ha ha ha
Talking smack about a brand new 9 speed transmission, that the first year just needed a reflash on, but if someone brings up the continued miss fires eco boost engines get in the rain 2011-current you guys cry. Talk bout blind pure loyalty.
I can't wait for ford to start mapping new 10 speed and reflash it every month, Why do you think you'll get a paddle shifters under the steering wheel ? Because they have no idea how to program it properly.
I have a huge problem with my RAM. Where to find the same new one, when I am done with this one I have, for the same money. LOL.
And now for some real news...
