Upscale 2017 Ford Super Dutys Get Heavy Duty Vinyl Floor Option
The 2017 Ford Super Duty will be different in many ways but offering a vinyl floor on top-of-the-line models is a stroke of genius because trucks with the option installed can be washed out the floor with a sponge, rag or hose if needed. Ford will offer an upgraded vinyl flooring on both King Ranch and Platinum models of the 2017 F-Series Super Duty trucks that go on sale this fall.
Vinyl flooring previously was offered on the lower XL and XLT trim levels, but this is the first time (for any HD truck maker) that the option has been extended to the more luxurious trims. Ford says that the "Super Duty customers... want the luxury of a King Ranch or Platinum edition, while maintaining their ability to use the truck for work without fear of ruining the interior."
Thankfully, the vinyl flooring in both the King Ranch (shown in these photos) and Platinum trim levels will be thicker and more durable than the base vinyl and will come with clips to install floor mats. Each trim's vinyl floor will also have a unique design to match the rest of the luxury interior.

Wow! Slow down Mark, your going to choke yourself. It's just a vinyl floor option.
I'll be interested to see if anyone will buy it.
If anyone else does it they are cost cutting and cheap. Ford does and Mark calls it "stroke of genius"
I'm sure this option will sell like hotcakes with gm and maybe ram to follow as usual.
Does stroke of genius mean it’s removable so you can take out and put it in the bed to cover up the holes
I'd rather Ford give me my premium floor mats. If I wanted or needed vinyl I could just go down to the local parts shop and buy them cheap. Its funny how Ford plays reverse psychology and this site soaks it all up.
It's been my experience that most people driving King Ranch trucks don't do much manual labor. My guess is they'll pay the detail shop the same either way.
i have a king ranch and really wish i had vinyl floors. I will get them next time! Would be great during hunting season!! Great choice, if you don't want it don't buy it
^ buddy if you wish you had vinyl floors then just go buy some. Walmart $19.99
I want a "hose it out" truck interior, but I don't want the rust under the vinyl floor. Took out the vinyl floor of my '70 K5, and found the hidden rust and holes (marketed as strategic drain-holes or flow through ventilation). Repaired the rust and painted the floor with non-skid bed-paint. Love the ability to just open all the doors when I wash it, and hose out the interior at the same time (OK, some of the rust holes were useful to drain the interior). I want the same "hose it out" ability in my next truck, preferably without worrying about shorting out sensitive electronics. Carpet sucks. Old carpet really sucks.
uh huh...
Vinyl flooring should be standard in all trucks in all trim levels with other stuff as the option...
I'm sure Chevy will have TV commercial where they drop heavy stones inside the cab to show that the military grade vinyl floor won't stand the test of time. LOL
Nope.
I want thick, nice carpeting in ALL my nice vehicles (including trucks). Why?
1) Sound deadening;
2) Thermal insulation;
3) Esthetic appearance.
THEN, I cover up the carpeting in foot wells with top quality, good-fitting, muck-retaining floor mats (with high edge ridges), such as those for Weathertech, or comparable offerings. Unless you have a Jeep made for this purpose, you DO NOT want to "hose out" the inside of pickup truck! Just take the mats out and wash them frequently. You'll be all set. And splash-over muck can be allowed to dry and then vacuumed.
This Ford idea is nonsense. Who would want to spend $75K on a King Ranch for luxury, and then look at vinyl? If you're work is that dirty, get a 2nd, cheap work truck: that's what they're for. I've got two of them for just that need, and, boy, they get beaten up far beyond any goo on the floor (^_^)...
==================
Ya I would def go with the heavy Vinyle, need something to grab onto when your falling thru the floor?
I'm amazed it took them all these years to figure this out.
I won't own a truck without a vinyl floor so I typically buy work trucks.
2017 FORD SUPER DUTY
The most capable heavy duty pickup the world will ever know.
LOVE
FORD!
I use a pressure washer when hosing out the floor. Kinda messes with the electronic under the dash but that's what my warranties four.
I know a lot of guys that buy these top level trucks and then use them exclusively for work. Increasingly farmers and ranchers are doing it. They will love this option. My buddy runs a calf ranch and his truck is a top of the line gmc 2500 but it has a permanent smell of manure from his nasty boots staining the carpet. A lot of guys like the leather seats because they are nice and easy to clean. My old f250 is a lariat with leather and it is a great work truck. Still very nice even though it is used exclusively for work on the farm.
Ford is a Powerstroke of genuis !
Just wait till chebby comes out with this and then it will be like sliced bread. The best thing. Just be careful like the guy saud above, said it rusted out his chebby. Imagine that!
Ford is smarter.

Just wait until they add twin turbos to the Silverado and they will say GM did it in the 1980s.
Nice job Ford, great idea.
Maybe ford could put the vinyl in the f150 bed?? Says a ford guy... I can poke fun at my brrand too :)
That would be called a bed liner. There is no problem with the Ford bed. Aluminum + the Ford bedliner is stronger than any other bed.
@dan
Agree. Chevy was just looking for something...
Based on recent video, those vinyl floor mats will be the only thing heavy duty on those beer can pick-ups.

We'll all be laughing when the GM Trucks are all Beer Can, you do know they already use Beer Can material within their trucks, right?

Yes, they use aluminum in the hood not the truck bed. GM is just smarter than FORD. What were those FORD engineers thinking?
Maybe Ford can also put vinyl mats in the bed to help stop it from becoming swiss cheese. If you're serious about not getting mud everywhere, get weathertech mats or something similar that you can take out and rinse off quickly and easily. You don't have to bend over and smear mud around and grind it everywhere with a rag like Mark suggested. You also don't have to spray the inside of your truck with a hose. Who does that anyway... honestly?!?!?! Even if you did that your floor pan should slope to the middle and have a removable drain plug and not to the rocker panel and the plastic coverings that I assume cover up electrical and would trap liquid mud.
@gmsrbad, maybe they (GM) should focus on fixing the rust problem with the new trucks.....alot of good a bed does if the rest of the truck rusts apart..

Gonna need that Vinyl flooring so a pebble stuck in you boot won't tear the used beer can floor in half HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
No matter what marketer calls it a hose-out interior, do NOT take a hose to the inside of a modern truck. I could have sworn this was offered in the past. Still can't compete with fitting a case of beer in the floor of a Ram crew cab.
I mean soda- of course.

You're aluminum foil hat tore just like you're bed HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely not a Ford fan but I've been wanting this for years. Hopefully the others will also offer this. I applaud Ford for doing it. I'll take a silverodo hd with vinyl floor that looks like hardwood.
I figure if you are rich enough to afford a King Ranch then you don't need to drive into the muddy parts of the ranch and get it dirty. You can hire workers to get muddy
My 2012 Tacoma had this, great feature. Specially if you have hairy dogs that make carpet impossible to get fully cleaned.
I know Chevy and ram also offers these... By exactly a new thing in the pick up truck segment
@ Lou_DC - base model trucks are the exclusive domain of fleets. High end trucks are very common among all of the small contractors and subcontractors I know. Those guys do the same work as any labourer. Some of them say that because they live out of the cab of their trucks they want something comfortable.
New Super Duty is gunna be a bigger beer can. Don't throw those boxes of tampons in the bed could cause dents. Make sure you tow a forklift behind it so you can load it gently. Ford Blows.

@ LMAO ,
Ford has major recalls that this site doesn't print...
Fords are always in the dealer getting repaired...Stop with your biased ignorance !

At least Ford owners get issues repaired and taken care of. fiat owners get nothing but out of pocket expenses while fiat gets record fines for NOT doing recalls and HIDING data that shows failures, injuries and DEATH.
Don't see all of the fuss about this.
