Recall Alert: 2016 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500

2016_Ram_3500
By Tom Torbjornsen

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 900 model-year 2016 Ram 3500 pickup trucks manufactured between July 24, 2015, and Jan. 7, 2016, and model-year 2016 Ram 4500/5500 pickups manufactured between July 24 and Oct. 8, 2015

The Problem: The transfer case may have been manufactured with a misshapen main output shaft, creating voids that may cause a shaft fracture. If the main output shaft fractures, the vehicle may lose power, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the driver may be unable to place the vehicle in Park, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the transfer case for free.

What Owners Should Do: The recall began Aug. 10. Owners can contact Ram parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or go to www.safercar.gov for more info.

Funny, this is exactly what happend with a buddies '02 2500 RAM Cummins besides many other stuff that went wrong including the whole dash board falling apart.
In fact, I was at a machanic friends garage the other day & every single RAM from the '90's to 2000 had now dash boards!!...completely wide open with wires running everywhere. I guess the owners don't mind it as long as the rest of the truck looks decent or maybe they simply cannot get a replacement...that sucks.

LMMFAO what a moron!!

What is a now dash? Hell that has made my day, 4:30 am and busting a gut already LMAO!

That's an expensive one to fix. Good thing they caught it relatively quickly. Bummer but glad they are taking care of it.

Every dodge dash I have seen over 10 yrs old is cracked. Wow johnny, with all the spelling errors you make, pot meet kettle.

I owned a 09 ram 1500 with the Hemi, and loved that truck, it was one of my favs.....but after 2 trannies it was time to move on.....

And the hits just keep on coming....I thought these units were
manufactured by Borg-Warner; not exactly a schlock
outfit.

lol...900 trucks...why is this even news? My local dealer fixes more vehicles in a week!

If you are going to do it go big or go home.....

Now we're talking real junk!

@really? Why are you only showing Ford recalls? why dont show all of the recalls by company? You know like how GM knew about a problem that ended up killing a lot of people then tried to cover it up?

Yeah your right Nitro GM sucks...but they learned from the best.

Remember the Pinto...In a rear-end collision, the fuel filler neck could separate and puncture the fuel tank, spraying fuel into the passenger compartment and igniting. In an exposé in Mother Jones in 1977, it was revealed that Ford had known about the defect before the car even went to production, but decided it would be too expensive to fix — the cost to safely upgrade the fuel system would’ve added $11 to the cost of each car. A shield to protect the tank from rupturing would have only cost $1.

On the ropes after paying out millions to victims of the Pinto debacle, Ford faced another disastrous recall in 1980 after the NHTSA announced after a three-year investigation it found that Ford automatic transmissions built between 1966 and 1980 contained a defect where they could slip from park into reverse, causing them to roll unexpectedly.

After reports by Mother Jones and the Detroit Free Press, it came out that the company had known about the defect since at least 1972, and rejected a design improvement that would have cost $0.03 per car to fix the issue. Instead, the company chose to quietly pay $20 million to victims and their families.

Yeah Ford is number 1....how about the Ford Exploder? In 1990, when Ford released its all-new Exploder, SUVs accounted for 7% of the U.S. auto market. By 1999, they accounted for nearly 20%, and were continuing to grow in popularity. The Ford-Firestone rollover scandal of 2000 didn’t stop the popularity of the SUV, but it set off a nationwide panic and drove home just how prone to rollovers the high-riding trucks really were....lol

The Exploder was introduced to replace the dangerously rollover-prone Bronco II in 1990, and it went on to became one of the one of the best-selling vehicles of the decade. For tires, Ford partnered with Firestone, which had been its preferred tire supplier for nearly 100 years. But when the NHTSA asked both Ford and Firestone to investigate a high rate of blowouts that led to rollovers, Ford blamed Firestone, and Firestone blamed Ford....heeeheeee

Yeah you gotta love Ford!

Not "Really?":

You are right! Over 600k F-Series sales in '15. Apparently Ford IS loved by most.

Redboneheaddxy you are right they sell a lot of junk...Ford is the McDonald's of automakers.

That would be GM, they sell the most Cars/Trucks, per your statement and TRVLL Comments.

Yes, McDonalds is equal to GM as they sell the most TRUCKS.

is this correct, TRVLLS???

Frank is right....Ford is more like Burger King!

Nah, it's GM all the way, overpriced crappy tasting burgers.

Grab a Ford Expoder and mop,
Scrub the bottom and top.
There is nothing so clean
As my Exploding machine!

With a broom -- and a brush
Clean it up for the rush
Before you open the truck,

Put a shine on that grill!

When we’ve finished, what then?
Start all over again!
Tell me, what does it mean?
My Ford Expolder it’s clean!

You deserve a break today!
So get up and get away!

To McDonald’s!
McDonald’s!
McDonald’s!

RichardNY66,
Look at the stick shift 6 speed Mustangs gear boxes. They are German designed, Ford licensed built in China.

Even Ford 6 speed automatics tend to have problems.

Borg Warner also has plants in China as does Dana, American Axle, etc.

You just don't know where this stuff is coming from.

this is "ONLY 900" trucks!

just like the election, only bring up the bad things on the truck you don't like and "ONLY" talk about the good things of the truck you do like
