2017 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Review: Photo Gallery

Even though the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show is typically not a pickup-truck-friendly environment, Chevrolet took the opportunity to debut one of its most capable off-road vehicles ever: the 2017 Colorado ZR2. Chevy converted a downtown L.A. movie studio back lot into a punishing 4x4 obstacle course where journalists enjoyed thrill rides inside the new mid-size player.

We thought you might want a few more detail shots of the new truck, so here's more to look at. Although we haven't driven the ZR2, we like its looks and the technology that's packed inside. We'll have more to say once we get behind the wheel.

Check out the gallery below.

Nice, now all the old guys that buy this truck can just jump the curb at grocery store parking lot.

That suspension and hood scoop are great! Also like the more aggressive grill and bumper on this ZR2! Great ground clearance and off road worthy tires, good job GM!

Sour apples for the Ford, Dodge and Toyota fans. Enjoy

Nice truck -- so nice, now it just makes the GMC Canyon All-Terrain look silly.

TRD PRO Taco is still better, I love FOX and have fox stickers on my windows. When was the last time you saw bowtie shock absorber stickers on truck rear windows? YEE YEE

Just another nail in the Ford and Taco coffin.

Sorry, I do not see anything ground breaking here, the Tacoma will shut it up and it won't last at high speeds in the desert.

The frame is already rusting.

Dear Ford, please help this LOSER CAR COMPANY.

Sour apples for the Ford, Dodge and Toyota fans. Enjoy

@jason, What am I sour over? I drive an AEV Power Wagon.

BANG UP JOB by GM! Didn't NOT think they had it in them!

If there's anything to complain about, it's the goofy looking front end. It has the clearance but just doesn't look right. Taco and Raptor did it better

That's what Mustangs are for!

The diesel is a huge advantage over all other mid size. Fuel economy and gobs of torque for hill climbing and off roading.

@sean, I disagree. It's about weight to power ratio. Diesel has less power and more weight. Diesel delivers it's power at low R.P.M low wheel speed. Mud, snow, sand requires a high R.P.M engine to cut through it with the tire.

Agreed, torque rules in those situations.

Gears slow the wheel speed. Now your stuck too.. HELLO! Are you still there?

It can do what a Tacoma could do back in 1995, way to be late to the party GM!

I would rather have a Tacoma TRD Pro because it has a proven track record with a reliable manufacturer and has higher retention of value and much lower operating costs!

Waiting on you, Thats why there is HIGH and LOW.

HELLO?

I need a light duty truck to do super duty truck jobs such as payload, towing, and plowing where the F-150 does the job.
The F-150 has HIGHER payload and tow ratings than many super duty trucks
The F-150 has the highest torque
The F-150 has the best gas mileage
The F-150 has the best resale value
The F-150 has the best crash tests

WHY would you even consider any other brand?

Because i was unfortunate to own one.

@cooper, Nice, now all the old guys that buy this truck can just jump the curb at grocery store parking lot.

now thats funny!

@Hemi V8. You owned a mustang not a F-150 and you were to stupid and too cheap to have insurance on it. Get over it already. Stop whining like a little girl. Now run along and go play in your not a real hemi PW

F-150 has the good gas mileage until you hook to something then it plummets then you start losing hp and tq because the turbos heat soak. They're a nice sport truck tho

After I bought my 2016 Tacoma SR 4x4, I swapped tires from factory to BFG A/T KO2's and they are 32" tires with no mods.

So I have better approach, break-over and departure angles than this Colorado!

Shocking!!

Is the extend cab in the first couple of photos GRAY or a new shade of GREEN? It's hard to tell from these pictures, but the Chevy-provided video makes it look a new shade of light GREEN.

Waiting on you, Thats why there is HIGH and LOW.

HELLO?

You have to stop to switch into and out of low range with t/cases. I take the lead. See ya!

You do realize that it doesn't matter what range you are in, a Chevy Truck will always out perform off road. A power wagon is nothing more than a sticker kit. Those trucks are junk and weak. Hello, time to be a real man and buy a Chevy truck. Beverly get stuck again. No matter where you go.

When will GM offer the 2.8 diesel in the extended cab?
