2017 Ford Super Duty F-450 Sets Guinness Flag-Pull Record
In celebration of the final NASCAR race of the season, Ford set a world record Nov. 19 and repeated the effort Nov. 20. An all-new 2017 Ford Super Duty F-450 pulled the largest U.S. flag — 45 by 92 feet — around four laps of the 1.5-mile Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Fla.
The Guinness World Records flag-pull record was previously held by the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, which towed a slightly smaller flag around the Texas Motor Speedway before the 2016 State Fair of Texas. The F-450 had to travel more than 328 feet without allowing the flag to touch the ground; instead it pulled the flag 360 feet.
To make breaking the record possible, a 45-foot, bed-mounted piece of tubular rigging held the flag in the place. A team of 20 support crew members held the flag up to make sure it never touched the ground.

Like in real world numbers, How much torque/hp did it take the Ford and Chevy to establish world records? Maybe something a Colorado diesel may have done, or a Nisan Frontier? Does not seem to be that hard to me.
Wow? Thought it would be the fastest Recalled vehicle ever produced.
2017 Recalled for Fire Risk!!!!
drain valve may open resulting in a fuel leak. A fuel leak, in the presence of an ignition source, increases the risk of a fire. Under certain conditions, significant liquid fuel on the road surface may cause a slip hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Another FIRE problem Houston.

I have an stunt idea for Ford; have a 2017 HD tow 30-50 RAMs!!...that will certainly bring some media attention :-))
LOVE
FORD !!
A nice little PR stunt to show up chevy once again. Since chevy copied Ford a month ago when Ford did a flag pull in 2014. I like how Ford decided to add 1,000 square feet more than chevy did. All PR for sure but good marketing.

They do on a weekly basis. It is through the AAA towing program.
I gotta hand or to ford, they excel at marketing their product. Lol

However it's kinda odd they used an f450 to beat a record set by a sierra 2500 kinda like when they compared an f450 to a ram 3500. Lol
I'm a Canadian and I'm wondering why they pulled the American flag upside down? Isn't that kind of an insult?
Lionel, remember even FCA cannot understand the difference between a name badge and the vehicle weight ratings. It was funny how a Chevy spokesman called out FCA for building a short 4x2 truck for marketing to claim best in class towing. That was 10lbs more than Fords F450 class 3 truck.

For people in the stands the stars are at the top.
Yeah yeah that whole crap where they took off the spare tire and jack and a bunch of other stuff to make it light enough to compete with the next class down. Lol
And so the f450 is apples to apples with the sierra 2500? Lol
Haha! Look at all the little Ford pick-ups running in front of the flag puller. They were there to create a drafting effect so that the powerstroke didn't bog down from the head wind. HAHA!

The Chevy ran without any vehicles in front of it, otherwise, that Duramax would have run over some . That's the difference in engineering by GM and marketing by Ford.

Maybe you could try and back that up. That truck has been certified J2807. In fact Ford stopped that practice years ago. Even before GM stopped.
GMSRGREAT, I assume you do not understand aerodynamics very well. Actually, not at all. There is way more turbulent air following so many trucks vs the clean air in front of the Chevy Truck. It is pretty much basic science.

Interesting, you not being able to recognize the benefits of drafting at a race track and an event that is all about drafting.
Pfft really? It takes a 450 to do the same as a 2500? Not good marketing to me.
Turbulence has less effect in forward motion then do clean head on wind. Following a semi truck created a lot of turbulence but less drag. Running in front line has less turbulence but significant more drag. So your logic is flawed.

It is interesting my friend, but you are wrong. Those trucks are to far apart. You need to be close in the slip stream. Not in the turbulent area. Your dad likes Nascar. Ask him how close those guys are when they draft. I bet they are not 50 yards away from each other. Please, look things up before you write. Really will help your credibility.
Bobby, stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

Why with your heavily flawed statement about turbulent air right is easier to flow through.
You can stop anytime you want.

Looks like uh huh is GMSRGREAT alter ego. He has not posted at all and look, a few minutes and he is on here hot and heavy. Nice try GMSRGREAT
Bobby ---
Flag Rules are that for a hung flag (meaning from its smaller dimension), the Union Field has to be on the upper left when seen from the preferred direction. Here, that means from above, with the driving motion of the Ford as "top".

No surprise they needed to use an F450 to pull it
Funny heh.....remember how many posts there were about the air dam in front of the GM's, hanging down....damn ford now has it.
@Bobby,
I wouldn't get into it with them losers, they'll only beat you are their own pathetic game.
What does it matter what pulled what, this could have been done with a Ford Focus.
@Hemi V8
You're pathetic Dude, first you praised We should Buy American or say buy to America, it was cool, now you're just annoying. Posting every recall on Ford makes you look more foolish.
To All,
I don't want to distract you from your usual workflow, please continue as is.
Tis all.
@Frank, their is more than Ford to buy American. lol I wouldn't recommend a Ford to no one. They are famous for FIRES!!! Have been since the Ford pinto. Keep in mind i only post F series FIRE RECALLS!!! while the rest of Fords models are burning at or an accelerated rate. Fords are FIRES waiting for a place to happen. Now that we have the internet Ford can't hide their dirt any more.
Toyota pulls a space shuttle and Gm and ford bicker over who can pull a bigger piece of fabric. Lol!!!
@ Gasser V8 & uh huh clown - meaning huh?..duh??
Guys (or girls) - it would help if you wankers do some research before posting; it would save us all time & space on this site for more constructive discussions than your usual Ford bashing with false claims and/or with no backup...thanks.

Welcome back LAMO. Why did you change your name to Bobby? Was it that LAMO no longer had any credibility? Your well on your way to discrediting the name Bobby. As for uh huh, I have never posted under that name, I have too much respect for that person.
That is funny GMSRGREAT, you have no credibility here at all. None what so ever.

LAMO, you really have to stop that name changing game. You will discredit every name that you use for posting.
@ HEMI V8; I know you're constantly grabbing straws but dude, we all have better things to do than surfing the NET to acquire/post negative stuff about Ford or any other brand for that matter just to make your fanbois brand look better.
I just googled RAM trucks & their issues & holy $hit!...heaps of crap including fires too! But as I don't want to come down to your level/posting anti-RAM stuff all day & night (like some sic #%&*$ on this site)...I'll give you the benefit of doubt to reconsider my point.
Meanwhile, I will admit & we all know all truck brands have their issues...just some have more than others (like Fiat for example:-)

Haha this is true. Plus the engine in the 450 is a Mexican diesel engine.
Ford should come up with their own ideas for once, yeah sure is funny they needed a f450 with a Mexican engine to do it HAHAHA! Poor track crew probably spend all day cleaning the leaking diesel fuel up from that recalled junk.

Can someone send me a link of the video showing a man tearing off the aluminum fenders with his bare hands on a new Ford Truck?
Everybody is talking about it but I can't find that video anywhere!

So whoever can get the biggest flag wins this contest?
While they play with each other, Toyota won NASCAR's manufacturers title for 2016!
I believe Chevrolet won the championship
Uh, for the record, the low pressure air that allows for drafting is really only a couple of feet behind the vehicle in front of you, otherwise it's just turbulence, sometimes noted as dirty air. Look it up or see for yourself by drafting someone on the highway - which I DO NOT CONDONE.
@ Kyle Dennis,
Toyota not only won the manufacturers title for the Sprint Cup, Toyota won the manufacturers title for the Infinity and truck series taking the full sweep of Nascar titles!
Do you even follow racing? Toyota was crowned the 2016 Nascar manufacturer champion!
@ Kyle Dennis,
Simple math:
Toyota won 16 races...
GM won 12 races...
Ford won 8 races...
Explain how GM won?
Congrats to Toyota for winning Nascar's 2016 manufacturer championship!
Didn't GM just pull this stunt?
So whos gonna buy a bigger flag to pull next?

Thanks Frank. I am not to worried about that gm clown. I see he has resorted in calling me names and now he thinks I am Tom. Funny how I have not posted since yesterday evening because the wife, kids and I left for out of town but he kept posting through the night. I think he proved himself as the multiple name poster. Non worries though for real conversation we all go to another truck site that is not filled with brand loyalist that call each other names. They keep up a pretty tight ship over there.
@ Frank,
Come again?
While you guys obsess with how big of a flag you can easily pull on a simple racetrack, Toyota won the manufacturers championship in Nascar!
