Five More Pickup Truck Things to Be Thankful For

5 Things Thanksgiving

From all of us here at PickupTrucks.com, we want to wish you and your family a happy and relaxing Thanksgiving. And just in case you haven’t thought about the reasons why we should be thankful for pickup trucks in a minute (the last time we did this was quite a while ago), here are a few to get you started.

No. 5: No More Presidential Election Talk

It’s time to get back to the important matters at hand: figuring out what new aftermarket part to install next.

No. 4: Fuel Prices Are Down

The average price of a gallon of regular fuel in the U.S. on Nov. 23, per AAA, is $2.13.

No. 3: Great Deals on New Pickups

According to US News & World Report, there are quite a few smokin’ deals on full-size pickups. This might be a good time to think trade-in.

No. 2: 2017 Will Be a Good Year

With all of the new pickup trucks coming out next year (a new Ford F-150 Raptor, Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, Nissan Frontier and more), we’ll be busy.

No. 1: Thank You for Taking Care of Your Pickup

We’re guessing you take pretty good care of your pickup because you understand that the maintenance you put into it means it will help you (and likely others) when you need it later. Additionally, the care you put into your truck now will also benefit the next owner, or the next, when you trade it in for a new one.

We want to say thank you and happy Thanksgiving to you and your families for all of your support

Nice message. And "Happy Thanksgiving" to you too!

What about the van people?

Happy Thanksgiving to my all USA friends. Eh ?

I'm thankful for direct injected v8's, turbos, locking differentials, manual transmissions and solid axles :)

This place is for pickup trucks.

The van people are over at the van website:

Happy Thanksgiving! (^_^)...

===============

I'm thankful for the good ole pushrod v8's and i6 diesels. I'm also thankful for the gas prices getting lower since I have a pushrod v8. Lol happy thanksgiving to everyone!

And are vans considered trucks? Lol

Our local Chevy dealers Black Friday deals say $14,000 off 2016 Silverado 4wd crew cabs. $10,000 off F150's

Nothing off the Colorado's though, as they do not have many to seel since they started shipping them to China

Good info Dave I can get a screaming good deal on what little 2016 GM trucks are left. Tons of Fords (104 day supply) but no good deals since they gotta try and get at least one good quarter of profits in for the year hehehehe!

Happy Thanksgiving

"And are vans considered trucks? Lol"
Well, this is a can of worms.

Strictly speaking, no, a van is not a truck. It is called a "van" because it is a van. An SUV is not a truck, because it lives in a separate category called "Sport Utility Vehicles" (hence, SUV).

For me, here are some traits of real "trucks", as we currently know them:
a) a solid, separate robust FRAME; and
b) a CAB SEPARATE from a hauling compartment, either bed or trailer.
c) The ability to fill the hauling compartment with cow manure, and then wash it out with a high-pressure garden hose later --- without fumigating the rest of the vehicle!

HOWEVER, logic had long since gone by the wayside when the DOT decided to call Pickups, Vans, and SUV's all "trucks". This was probably to our advantage, since these vehicles had different and less severe EPA fuel mileage requirements than cars did. And apparently there were only two categories way back when: one called "cars" and the other called "trucks". So Vans and SUV's got lumped into "trucks" since they definitely weren't "cars".

But for those of use who actually use these vehicles, the distinctions are obvious...

You should also be thankful you don't have one of those ecoboost V6's. They have a rabid thirst for gasoline.

New 2015 F-150 Lariat
MSRP
$78,537
Discount
$18,662
Sale Price
$59,875

Be thankful you can actually buy a truck and not have it be an unaffordable novelty like they are in many other countries.

Franky

That is one insane dealer. Or else it's a misprint. There is no way that trucks msrp is 78k. In fact I'm pretty sure it's actual msrp is less than the 59k asking price which means they are adding adm. It's a very dishonest practice that some dealers employ. Inflate the msrp so they can give huge "discounts".

(Disclaimer: I didn't look where the dealer is located. If it is in Canada then that totally changes the picture. I have no idea what Canadian pricing might be)

OH! and enjoy the lesser discounted 104 day supply even after plants shut down and paying ulaw works 80% of their pay sitting at home for 2016s HAHAHAHAHA! Fools

Wasn't sure. I always called then a van but occasionally I hear people call them a truck. Lol there's a lot of similarities or shared technology tho.

You should also be thankful you don't have one of those ecoboost V6's. They have a rabid thirst for gasoline.

I believe there good on mileage as long as you try to get good mileage, it's when you drive it like a sports car or are towing is where the ecoboosts mileage plummets. A few friends of mine that have the ecoboost all say just regular driving they get 20/23 mpg but if there goofing around or towing they get 7-10 mpg.

Franky?
I smell a rip off on the link you sent about the discount on the new $78K F-150
It's a 2015
They blocked from viewing the window sticker of the vehicle

That's an aftermarket truck. It's not a stock F-150. And it's a 2015. Try again Johnny.

Grateful the $1.66 Reg (Austin) gas price didn't spike for no reason except it's the second biggest travel time of the year.

"Funny, even ford is on the Dodge street."

Ironically, it was the Dodge Brothers in 1903, who built the underpinnings* for Henry's successful "Model T". It was Mr Ford's 3rd business attempt, and he just had to "get it right" this time (^_^)...

My God! It's heaven!

Thank god for #4 (lower fuel prices). Let's hope the prices stay down for a while.

stable fuel prices

@Mrob

Worker incomes are slowly heading back up. in a year we'll look back on this period and be amazed at the better wages and salaries.

Politics aside, starting in 2011, Obamacare drove up the cost of hiring blue collar workers.

If the new government comes up with a better solution on health care, salaries (and hiring) will see a big boost.

papajim - same ol' scumbags still lurking in the hallways of power. In other words, don't hold your breath.
If anything changes for the better it won't be due to good government.

Good Government .......... Alex, what are oxymoron's?
