Best-Selling Pickup Trucks: November 2016
With total automotive sales down for the last three straight months, the industry is poised for a small turnaround, thanks in large part to the long Thanksgiving weekend and a wide selection of Black Friday specials. In fact, some industry experts are predicting this could be the biggest November sales month in 15 years, with a huge chunk of that gain centered in the full-size and mid-size pickup trucks segments.
Most of the big pickup sales winners for November were the usual suspects. The mid-size segment gained more ground with the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon and Toyota Tacoma making big jumps over November 2015. And the Honda Ridgeline outsold the Canyon in November. But the biggest winner in monthly and year-to-date sales so far was the Nissan Titan, which now has a full pipeline of full-size trucks (both the half-ton and the XD) heading to dealerships. The other big full-size pickup sales news is Ford experiencing a more than 10 percent gain over November 2015 sales — that's big improvement over October's small monthly gain.
Expect the race for year-end supremacy to get more aggressive in the full-size pickup segment, as low fuel prices, a relatively steady economy and one final incentive push during the December holidays continue to lure customers to dealer lots. By year's end, it's possible the industry will set an all-time record of more than 17.4 million units sold, with an approximate 60/40 split between trucks — pickups, vans, crossovers and SUVs — and passenger cars. We'll know more by Jan. 4, when December 2016 sales will be reported.

I really need to get out and test drive the Ridgeline, might be my next truck
Congrats to GM for selling a total of 851,689 pick-ups so far this year. Over 130,000 of these are mid size trucks which happens to be the direction that pick-up truck buyers are heading. That's just a dominating performance from a forward thinking company that offers more choice for the consumer. Great job GM. Making America Great Again, one more GM truck sale at a time.
Wow! GM sold more mid-size trucks (Colorado/Canyon) than Toyota sold Tundras. Thats insane!
Nissan Frontier up almost 42% this year. Pretty amazing considering that it's now 12 model years old.
Ram up 8% and closing in even more on Chevy...despite the fact that it's 8 model years old.
This proves that having a "new" truck on the market every 2-3 years is NOT what drives sales.
Ford # 1
Ford's average transaction F-Series price up $1,000 over this time last year, well ahead of the industry average of $320
Also retail sales up 10% and fleet sales down 9%
Great job GM you are #1, and sucking the life out of Ford as they throw incentives to keep their Al junk trucks in the black sale # wise.
Hey Ford how's that 104 day supply working, plus the cheap fleet sales you done all year working for yah, Oh and the weeks you cut the plans while paying all the Ulaw workers 80% of their pay for sitting at home HAHA! Oh yeah, and the the fact your offing the most off trucks with the newest trucks HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

Great job Ford, number 1 again, increasing the lead, and not needing mid sizer.....I'd be worried if I were the competition and they do come out with the Ranger
Where are the Raptors?
I'd be worried if I were the competition and they do come out with the Ranger

How many years have you been saying this? LOL ! Seriously though, you sound more worried than the competition.
Why are Chevy and GM full sized trucks flat lining while the others are thriving? GM is really pushing the advertising hard for full sized trucks, and offering huge incentives right now too. Are the mid sized sales stealing their full sized numbers?
Good job Ford!!!!! Ford out sold chebby by more then 22,000 trucks in november!!!! Ford iut sold gmc by more then 52,000 trucks. That is what you call blowing away the competition! !!!!
Good job ford leaving the competition on the dust. I saw a couple of FORD F250 and they are nice way better than the but ugly ShaKY shaky and the gmc garage motors company.
Way to go ford the best never rest keep spanking the competitions butt.
Ram up 8% and closing in even more on Chevy...despite the fact that it's 8 model years old.

FCA's strategy of subprime 96-month auto loans and $13k in incentives is clearly paying off.

The General sold 851689 trucks in ONE month. The next closest was Ford with 733,287 trucks.
GM, the King of Trucks. Ford is the Queen of Trucks.
Colorado and Canyon outselling the Ranger by about 133,000 to none so far this year. That equates to a lot of profits for GM. WOW! FORD really dropped the ball and still can't seem to get anything going in the mid size truck market. Are they asleep over there? By the time a Ranger shows up, it will be at least 2 generations behind in development compared to the GM twins and the Tacoma. Maybe it be best if FORD keep investing in incentives for it's F-series rather than idling it's plants.
Hey BRONCO2020, nobody does shaky better than Ford!

I own a 2015 Ford F150 Platinum. It is everything I would want in a truck and car. I am soooooooo happy with my vehicle.
Congratulations to Ford's No. ONE brand F-series still kicking shake 'n bake GOVT motors TWO ugly butts (aka shaky cheby & GMC) combined; over 14 000 units YTD & over 7 000 units for the month...wow talking about rolling over the competition. All this even when they halted production & Ford's new Raptor & HD sales hasn't even kicked in yet...WOW!!! 2017 will certainly be another record year for Ford :-)
I don't feel too bad for the cheby/GMC fan girlies cause they're used to it now; Ford's being kicking their butts for over 40 yrs & counting & now they're starting to LIKE it...ouch :-))....KEEP following the leader!!!!....HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Ford junk is allot like McDonalds, They sell lots of the crap but its very low in quality.
Speaking of profits; last time I checked, shaky GOVT motors was 2nd to RAM recall for having the biggest discounts to try sell their heap of steel crap...LOL

"Those days of supply often correlate with factory incentives. For the October time frame that Automotive News' data covers, 2017 model cash rebates ranged from $250-$2,250 for Ram, $300-$2,000 for Ford, $500-$1,500 for GM, up to $2,500 for Nissan and zero at Toyota; you can roughly double those amounts for 2016s"

Blinded by jealousy Lionel sure is. Boy they sure don't come much dumber.
Anyone see the new State Farm commercial with Aaron Rodgers? https://youtu.be/uRFrH8z57VY Take notice the brand of truck used......
@heyyouguys
I can't stop laughing. It's not a commercial, it's a real life.

Yep!
Ford is selling 7,909 more F-Series than Silverado and Sierra combined!
Bam!
F-Series had its best November since 2001! 72,089 trucks sold - up 11%!
Bam!
If Ford goes over 800k units that will be the first time since 2005!
Happy days are here again!
Bam!
Probably had the Ford shakes so bad it cause friction then light it self on fire HAHAHA!

I am still laughing, because you don't know difference between predictions and reality.
FCA US, the former Chrysler Corporation plus Fiat and Alfa Romeo, remains in fourth place in US sales, even during a month when competitors gained.
As usual, General Motors, shorn of Buick, Oldsmobile, and Saturn, came in at #1, without any dispute and with gains for Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC alike. Toyota edged out Ford for #2, 197,645 vs 196,441; Ford had a very good month indeed, with boosts in incentives paying off. FCA’s seven brands came in at 162,207.
Ford is #3
The old Chrysler Group’s US sales fell sharply in November 2016, compared to a very good November 2015, but that’s not the end of the story. Retail sales for November were down just 2%; fleet sales fell by 42%. The fleets took up 21% of the total for the month, a lower percentage than normal this year, possibly because some fleet sales were pulled forward.
There were some bright spots, notably Ram, which saw a 12% gain compared with last November. Ram pickups saw an 8% hike, and the rest came from new-ish vans. The Pacifica gained 13% from October, and the Renegade shot up by 30% from last November.
I am still laughing.
I looked at the RAM numbers again and I am satisfied and comfortable.
Have a great day, if you can. I sure have one.
FCA will be just fine. They are following GM road to proven profits, ditching fleets, and working on retail sales.
It's still better to cut small profit small cars no one buys, than struggle with brand new truck model.
Old RAM is doing pretty good compare to the new ford and new gm.
Ford has horrible numbers compare to the last year and Year-to-Date numbers are down.
I don't have a GM numbers, but I don't really care anyway.
As long as RAM is up, everything is all right.
It look like Ford have another fire sale ,,,maybe in December the truck will be free :))
It appears PUTC needs to update the picture to have the 2017 Ford Superduty
Posted by: GMSRGREAT | Dec 1, 2016 5:04:36 PM
PUTC is putting together a picture of both sets of GM twins so that the picture more accurately represents the top selling manufacturer.
It is outstanding that ram is still competing with an over 10 year old motor design and doing pretty darn well too. Just like when they were still using the 545rfe transmission from 99 and was still keeping with the competition 10 years later when they were using six speeds with superior gearing. Lol and gm seems to be doing exceptional with the mid size twins. Looks like they need a new strategy for the full size twins though.
Wouldn't gm be losing profits though if all their customers are switching to mid size instead of full size trucks?
I will be removing my 'Chevy Colorado Rescue Vehicle' decal from my Toyota's because GM is not a worthy competitor!
At 174,000 to 99,000 not even close!
Meanwhile, another typical day at FCA w/RAM blunders LOL;

Hey bro, you should replace it with a '3rd Gen Tacoma Rescue Vehicle' decal. With the 'new' Tacoma at the bottom of the reliability survey over at Consumer Reports and judging by the volume of 3rd Gens with busted diffs, oil leaking onto the exhaust manifolds, glitchy automatics, and bad engine sensors leaving owners stranded, you'll be rescuing Taco's day and night!
Wouldn't gm be losing profits though if all their customers are switching to mid size instead of full size trucks?
Posted by: Gasser V8 | Dec 1, 2016 10:20:39 PM
Their selling the midsize at full price and a lot of their full size trucks too, with one trim package they offer big bucks off. 50 % of the gm midsize twins is coming from Ford f150 buyers and Tacoma buyers alone. No doubt that has grown with the 8 speed, diesel, and soon to be ZR2.
http://www.autonews.com/article/20151102/OEM/311029965/gms-told-ya-so-small-pickups
I bet this time next year nissan will be selling more titans than toyota sells tacos and tundras in total...alliteration aside.
NO matter what happens to FCA, RAM and Jeep are going to be just fine. You can junk most of FCA's offering but gosh darn I love my mexi-built Ram. What a great truck.
I now have a looping audio track of a Hemi playing in my house 24/7.
I read recently that fca is not abandoning fleet sales, fleet sales are abandoning them. Police agencies are not buying their products because of recurring problems. Duh, what were they thinking, fca is the lowest of the low quality manufacturers.
@gms/johnny , I love how you guys now add in all the small car trucks to help make GM look good, maybe you also add the toy gm truck sold at walmart, maybe that will help too hahahahahaha
Last year GM sold 9.8 million vehicles world wide vs Ford's 6.6 million, who's the loser now?
http://www.autonews.com/article/20161201/RETAIL01/312019989/ford-5-1-gain-spurred-by-incentives-suvs
Dang, I wish Ford was not doing this good. I'm sure the Ford clowns are happy.
Posted by: GMSRGREAT | Dec 2, 2016 6:32:22 AM
Fortunately, Ford has to offer hugh incentive discounts on the F-150 in order to sell it to people who would otherwise buy a mid size truck. Meanwhile GM is getting near full retail for their mid size twins. GM is hitting FORD hard by offering a mid size truck to buyers. Fortunately, Ford has "NOTHING" to counter their profit losses on the beer can truck.
@Nitro,
I no longer will push the dumb idea of combining 4 different trucks to beat out Fords single truck line up, it simply hurts too much. Let's face it, GM has a hugh lead and FORD has nothing to help our cause. The time has come for us to bow out and concede defeat. After all we still got each other.

I agree with you Lionel for once. Here is a little extra salt for your wounds........Congrats to GM for selling a total of 851,689 pick-ups so far this year.

If that was the case then why are f150 and Toyota sales increasing? Lol
Also, if you build a midsize truck for $20k and sell it for $30k and build a full size for $40k and sell it for $60k wouldn't you make more money on the full size + if they give you $10-20k for your old full size to sell you a $30k midsize wouldn't they lose money there as well?
Ford is the best period.
Tundra strongly needs a good diesel mill. Why not the Cummins V8 that is serving in Nissan Titan?
Rumours has been around since years but whats happening?
