Top 10 Most Popular PUTC Stories of 2016
We're not sure what 2016 will be remembered for: violence at home and abroad, our divisive presidential election or the numerous celebrities who died. But the end of the year is always a time of reflection, so we're taking a moment to think back on the year's pickup truck news.
In the automotive world, pickups, SUVs and crossovers were king on dealer lots, thanks in part to relatively low fuel prices, an uptick in new home construction and an economy that has been stable in most parts of the country.
Here at PickupTrucks.com, we've had a strong year keeping up with breaking news and testing new trucks. So, in the year-end tradition of looking back, here are the 10 most popular and important pickup-related stories — based on readers' comments — from 2016. Feel free to offer your favorites or suggestions for 2017 in the comments section below.

That's a good lookin super duty
My favorite was the Texas Truck Showdown : Max towing.
PUTC did a great job covering the highs and lows of the vehicles tested. One thing that is important is how well the tow vehicle handles the max rated loads recommended by the manufacturer. It was clear in that article, FORD had very much overrated the f-150 towing capacity. The light duty F-150 was clearly not on par with the winner of that the contest, the GMC. Once again, Congrats to GM for providing such a dominating light duty truck.
So the most popular stories are the ones where it is just constant brand bashing and no one has an actual clue or discussion about trucks? Good thing for other places to have actual discussions with people that actually like to talk about trucks and not brand bash.
@Thomas
Did you actually READ any of the articles you're putting down?
I often complain about content on this site, but the stories that PUTC did regarding MPG and Towing (Texas Showdown) earlier this year are excellent reports that are chuck full of facts/figures and real research---not just opinion, or seat of the pants conjecture.
Read those reports and then tell me you're not impressed.
@Thomas
100% spot on. Nothing but bashing here. Fortunately, you and I have found a better Site to visit.
@papajim. You did not READ my comment. This article is about the articles and how popular they are based on comments. I would ask you to read the article again and then my comment. It will make more sense once you READ it all. The articles are fine. I like the articles even though many are old news. The comment section was my grip.
The articles themselves are good, but some of the comments by fan boys get a little carried away which is not only true of this website but many others. You don't have to read the comments. I don't see any real biased by Mark, but then everyone has their favorite brand and no one is totally objective. Happy New Year Everyone!!
@Thomas,
You are right. papajim did not read. But then again not everyone can read. The other site people are talking about has huge illiteracy problem as well, as well as problems testing vehicles. At least the tests over here are good. Happy New Year Everyone!!

@Andy, I agree that Super Duty looks sweet! I would totally swap my duramax for that!
@Thomas
You're a bit touchy. Try a hot shower or a back rub. Calm you right down.
When PUTC does stories on their vehicle testing it's usually very good and very detailed. Compared to Truck Trend and Motor Trend it's very rich content-wise. Compared to Consumer Reports it is obvious that the PUTC writers actually like pickups--I'm not so sure about the reviewers at CR.
The commenter Jeff (not Jeff S) seemed pretty quick to jump me over my reply to your comments. Does he always do that?
I cannot wait for the Canyon Denali and Colorado ZR2 reviews/test drives. Wife wants me to get the Denali and I am thinking the ZR2. Probably cost about the same then put a leveling kit on the Denali and remove the front curb feeler/snow-plow and good to go.

That truck has a front end that only a mother could love.
@ GMSRJUNK DON'T HATE BUDDY KEEP YOUR GARAGE MOTORS .
WHAT!?!?
None of the recall notices or the sales updates were in the top 10?!?!?
I cant believe it.
Thomas, Frank, Jeff
Read again, it's based on reader comments. Doesn't say anything about amount, could mean content driven comments. Clint put it perfectly, if it's based on amount, those articles prevail. Here you are putting done bashing by bashing. How about steering comments the other direction.
All ten articles are great highlights of the past year here.
2017 big news will be the duramax,,,this engine it's so good the army and boat industry will use this engine ,,
I find it quite ironic how some here are questioning the reading abilities of others. Those who are questioning papajims first comment clearly lack comprehension skills. With respect to selecting stories with the most comments, if that were true the top 10 list would comprise of January thru October total monthly truck sales articles only.
It's interesting that of the ten most read articles, four were about midsize pickups and two were about the new Titan. I'll be watching to see how that's reflected in sales in 2017.
Thomas, Frank and Jeff are 100% right. Nobody said it was just based on the "number: of comments.
I just read the #1 Super Duty story that is supposedly based on reader comments and the first 10 comments were from butt-hurt brand-bashing fanbois from Ram and the like.
Thanks but no thanks. The reader comments on this site mostly stink and Ram, Hemi V8 and GMS are the problem.
