Recall Alert: 2017 Ford F-150
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 6,800 model-year 2017 Ford F-150 pickup trucks manufactured from Oct. 4 to Nov. 23, 2016, at the Dearborn Assembly Plant in Michigan and Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri
The Problem: The instrument panel cluster display may not illuminate the transmission shift position indicator upon startup in cold temperatures, which could result in unintended vehicle movement and increase the risk of injury or a crash. Additionally, a malfunctioning instrument panel cluster display may prevent warning chimes, messages and warning lights from activating. Ford is unaware of any fires, accidents or injuries related to this issue.
The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the instrument cluster display for free.
What Owners Should Do: Ford has not yet released an owner notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 866-436-7332, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

No wonder Ford F-150 is not even in the top 10 of KBB re-sale value!
Toyota Tacoma wins that award again retaining over 71% of value after 36 months, impressive!
Yesterday KBB handed out their awards and the Tacoma was not only the best pickup but best overall vehicle of any kind in retention of value!
Sorry Colorado, you are more than 10 points below the Tacoma!

great job ford, number 1 and catching things unlike the gm shake issue and broken plug issues that continue to plague GM
Wonder why it is a software issue cause it is cold out? and how cold is cold?
Don't see how a PRNDL not lighting up would constitute a recall but hey, ....

The operator not knowing what gear is selected or if it is in park.
Remember the Ram recalls?
Ford owners shake in their high heels in fear of no cluster display HAHAHAHAHAHA
Ford JUNK! Send them to the junk yard.
@, and theres johnny, I mean GMS I mean Sierra.......I love how he complains about a pity Ford recall such as this, when GM had the key issues which affected peoples lives in a bad way..
@Joe smith
"Don't see how a P R N D L not lighting up would constitute a recall but hey, way to get the job done instead of waiting for a dealer complaint"
Oh yeah thanks Ford for making junk again.
So many recalls across all manufactures! I have 3 Honda cars and all 3 recently had recalls for different reasons! My 2004 f 150 never had one that I recall but all the newer vehicles need it
I hope this causes a huge drop in F150 sales, I want one and need 20K rebates to make it happen.
@mikey, thats because technology has exploded since 2004

Not enough real world testing. Manufactures are relying too much on computer simulations. Secondly, many manufactures are trying to be the first to market with something new without thoroughly testing the products.
Love how when anyone else has a recall that vehicle/brand is junk for the ford muppets, but when it is their fabled F-150 they are "catching things and taking care of their customers" and that its no big deal. People on here seriously need to look past brands and rejoice the world of trucks that we all love.

@Frank, you beat me too it, I was gonna say what r u talking about it? Its mainly only GMSrgreat and his many names that complain, with a few from the fiat guys
@Dan
I was thinking the same thing. I can't believe how upset people get about truck brands other than their own. They all have pluses and minuses. I own a Ford, Chevy and Dodge and they are all great in some ways and not great in others. I just buy what fits my needs best at the time I need a truck. Who cares if someone likes a different brand? Why so much emotional energy spent defending your perception of what is best when it is mostly subjective? I won't mention any names because you know who you are!
wonder how Lionel is going to respond to this latest FORD recall. I remember him slamming Ram with their shifter issues.
I doubt software can fix this. Sounds more like replacement instrument clusters i$$ue.

Great job Ford for catching & fixing this minor electrical issue; unlike Fiat's lame shifter issues that actually killed & maimed many & not to mention shaky GOVT motors ignition switch issue with many lives lost...there you go GMSUCKS...BAM!!! :-)

If only Toyota could come up with a Tacoma that could protect 71% of its frame from rust rot.
Silverado, Sierra, Ram, Tundra, and Titan have never had recalls.
@ C Norris... sure thing.... never a Silverado recall.

Fyi I never look at the dash display for shifting. F150 has a console shifter and I have to grab shifter to move it,,,, I look at console display. What's the big deal???
And recall is for such a small amount of trucks..
Not every f150 has a console shifter just saying
Silverado, Sierra, Ram, Tundra, and Titan have never had recalls.

Which rock are you living under?
Ford is number one. At recalls. Im sure this is only the beginning with the all new Ford. Im glad i don't own one. Who wants to buy a truck for fifty grand and then continue to take it back for recall after recall. What a joke. I owned one Ford and after it burnt to the ground from one of its millions of fire recalls i was done. Never again. You can have them. Wont make that mistake again. Now on my second Ram in 14 years. RAM the Longest Lasting pickups on the road. Stay thirsty Ford boys. lol
Ram trucks have more fire recalls and more recalls per trucks sold. Just so you know.
RAM IS ON LEAST reliable recent list FYI...read it..

Oh then FAKE emissions???

Quiet time now..
I am not going to bash a ford. I won't buy any anyway.
@supercrew02, How soon we forget. Just review Fords long list of recent recalls. Or just stay thirsty. lol
everybody is having problems of LED screens in extreme cold weather
@BankruptinPA
And ford will fix this problem for everyone.
I have one of these 2017 F150 10 speed's that are recalled. Get in the truck on a cold February morning, 0-20 degrees F, and the 8" Touch Screen stays black. No reverse Camera, No Radio, No Navigation Display, nothing... Don't necessarily need it to drive but for what i paid for this truck i have an expectation that it work when it is cold outside.
As far as the gear select..
I can shift into Drive but the Gear indicator that marks 1,2,3,4,etc... - 10 doesn't display as the transmission shifts through the range of gears. I don't know that it matters when you are in D but the M (manual select) on the column shifter with the + or - for up and down through the gears definitely becomes unusable. You can still shift the transmission manually but you better keep track of what gear you are in in your head. Otherwise watch the manual RPM gauge.
lol...
Again... It drives without it.. but in 1969 a new ford cost $2500 dollars. Spending 55,000 for a truck makes you want everything to work without error..
Unless of course you all have a lot more money than me and it just doesn't matter to you..
cheers!
New 2017 f150 xtr supercab . $55,000 truck and brakes are screeching. Every time I hit a light and brake at low speed it's like nails on a blackboard . Driving me insane and takes away all the enjoyment of driving a new truck. Brought it back 3 times and they just said they can't hear it. They must be deaf so I took a video and showed shop foreman. Picked up truck and they said it happens sometimes and is an acceptable problem . It's not acceptable to me ... anyone have any fixs or similar issue

@Darren
Fix it on your own dime. A single trip to a qualified brake shop will take care of the noise.
Too bad your local dealership is unwilling to pursue customer satisfaction.
