2017 3/4-Ton Premium Truck Challenge Video: Track Testing

It's not every day that you get to see how fast (or slow) heavy-duty pickup trucks are down a quarter-mile track. Yes, we know that's not what they're designed to do or how most pickup owners use them, but it does give you a good understanding of how each of these big trucks (and engines) directly compares with one another — empty and loaded.

Just in case you missed out on the 2017 3/4-Ton Premium Truck Challenge — our latest head-to-head competition where we pit all the newest 4x4 crew-cab three-quarter-ton pickup trucks against one another — click here to find out who won.

LOVE
FORD!

Nice beat down DURAMAX!!!!

Nice and shaky with crappy interior, yeah I'd be proud of that too

@trucky, so what your saying is, if you want a truck to race at the drag strip, with old tech and lackluster interior thats not comfy, buy the GM and Durmax, if you want a truck that can tow anything with ease, do work, and be as comfy as ever with the latest technology buy the Ford, I can agree with you on that, well said, well said.

@Nitro These tests give you an idea of how the truck is going to perform on the road. Wait until TFL takes this truck up the Ike gauntlet. I'd put money that it puts the Powerjoke to shame based on PUTC's testing.

Blah, blah, blah....the Duramax can wins all the races in the world but smart people buy and think with their wallet.

Ford SD #1. GM Duramax soon to be #3 & #4.

@Frank No kidding. That's why anyone that thinks with their brain would buy the silverado that's $8500 less than the F250 ($67,940 vs $76,545).

It's quite obvious you don't know nor pay attention to the Monthly Sales.

When you decide to do your own research, you will see and find why many people prefer the Ford SD Diesel over any other Brand of Trucks.

GM can't give them away at THAT discounted price.

@Frank Monthly sales don't include break down of heavy duty vs light duty, nor gas vs diesel, so your statement is quite ignorant. The power stroke option is $8800 and the duramax is $9,000- basically the same. You're probably right that the SD sells more than the 2500, but that's because ford has always catered to the fleet market. This doesn't necessarily mean a better truck, just that they offer lower trim level trucks at lower prices, all gassers- which is exactly NOT what we are talking about in this article.

"catered to the fleet market." Wow, what a genius we have on our hands. Clearly you know nothing and can't do simple research.

We're done.

Do your homework F250/F530 Diesel sales pound on the HD2500/3500, if you can't find it, there is no way I am going to keep having a discussion with you.

My apologies for calling you a genius, I was left with the impression you knew what you were talking about.

Like 99% of all you GM humpers, it's cool.

The Chevy did well considering it was running Duratrac's.

I am impressed with GM's ability to put the power to the ground. Ford needs to figure out the inefficiencies in thier drivetrain. If the new GM's fix some of legacy issues the testers consistently complain about they will be a serious contender in the HD market.

@Nitro, Never heard anyone complain about the "Chevy Shake" in the 3/4 and 1 tons. Pretty sure they thought the Chevy seat was more comfortable than the Ford's. Let's face it- the Chevy should have been picked over the Ford, but it wasn't. Better performance and thousands of dollars less. Heck, the Ford should tow better than the Ram- but it doesn't.

Good job GM, and they beat the ford with less torque.
LOL, fords junk, always has been and always will be, Quality is job none. Pure crap.

Speaking of shaky, how is that superduty death wobble working out for ya?

GM's 2500s crushed Ford's F250s in the sales numbers. 111,191 GM 2500s sold last year, while Ford only had 85,500 F250s sold. Over all HD sales 250 350 450 Ford only had only a 1,967 lead over GM's 2500 and 3500s. Ford will be second place in the HD market next year when GM's 4500s hit the dealer lots HAHAHAHA!!!!! Ford is far from pound GM in any kind of sales

As far as diesel sales go Ford aint no where never GM's 6.6L in volume

Better luck next decade Ford HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

It's nice to be fast, but there is a lot more to owning a truck then speed. Every one of these trucks is capable to do what is designed for - except maybe the Titan :)

Too Bad the Chevy had the smallest cab. Ford's extended cab feels as roomy as Chevy's wanna be crew cab. Hey did they ever center up the steering wheel yet or they still next to the navigation screen? By the way anyone ever see how pathetic the front wheel travel numbers are on a Chevy HD?

Frank makes love to GM trucks? What a weirdo!

HEY yeah the Ford Superduty might be a death wobbling junker but the interior isn't that bad.

I guess gm should of had the denali there , with street tires instead of duratracs , braking , gas mileage , also acceration would of been a touch better. It really baffles me that chevy dominated all of testing , they even said fords seats weren't comfy . And ford still gets the win , I don't buy truck for fanciest interior also we all know fords history with diesels , spotty at best, except for 7.3 international motor. Ford invests so much in tech there market shares are 10 dollars a share but they sell all these trucks still can't get stock up .
